Why people rage about RIFT

idonotpanicidonotpanic Member Posts: 4

I should probably start from saying that I was playing for around 1 year both in pve and pvp  ending my story with RIFT recently. During that time- I did a lot raiding in SL times, was halfway  tier1 - half tier 2 with rapid-achievements for all the tier1 raids and Grim Awakening when 3.0 started. For the NTE expansion - I did 4/4 RoF, and 4/5 MS, plus for the last days of storm-legion I was 89lv prestige rank - with 4 parts of orange Myrmidon gear (best pvp) and rest of purple grade myrmi (aside from weapon/ranged - didn't hit required 90). I had the fastest mount, unlocked AH .... moment I left I had ~3k cp with over 1.1 k hit on my main char

I'm would gladly avoid that posing - forgive me if that's how it looks like -  I just wanted to clearly show I wasn't some dude that hit 40-something lv in RIFT and decided he's been there all and seen it all.  I surely wasn't  but I've seen a lot -and I did  that without paying any money to anyone  - no beggary, no friends when I started that could provided express route to late game content - I was grinding that hard and I'm sure som1 casual couldn't do that  - at least - not in that amount of time - I know ppl who were using money fees, did play even be4 I started and never finished Regulos (last boss of hardest  t-1 raid)

After all the discussions u ppl had - if it's or isn't  p2w - I hope no1 will pull this part topic further - enough to say that som1 wisely noticed there could be several interpretations of what is p2w or f2p - by my definition - I probably could get all that's available w/o payments therefore it wasn't  p2w. From the other hand - no-one  would be that dumb to pay for something u can get for free easily and I would say that even in f2p - or p2w- both types of ppl are required. These who pay - can pass grinding phases to do late-game faster(and pay for hard work of game creators + maintenance), someone who is that persistent (or smart...whatever) gets a chance to do it all for free providing extra people to pool - what would be point in paying to get to some content if there won't be enough people  to  coop or compete with. Imo - that's win-win situation for all. Only that it is past.

For current RIFT and Trion situation:

They had problems with other games that turned fiasco. Not sure for Defiance. I can tell You reasons for ArcheAge - most free2play oriented ppl left because of limits for non-premium users, forcing them to wait either for login - or after they finally managed to do that -to wait more in-game  afk to farm precious currency that You need for  any action. Does it sounds like fun for u? For these folks that would like to pay for monthly subscription,  allowing them to skip that - if u don't know why most left -  search youtube for : ArcheAge farming bot.

That;s just all my opinion, I don't know any  developer and don't have private intel from inner circle but as consequence -  they didn't have time and resources to make a proper expansion. They were rushing to finish before the latest expansion for WoW. Output - the 3.0 nightmare tide - was covered by cheesy story with water-dream-world. Right, right - in dreams  u often see places and people u have seen be4 - perhaps little twisted. In practice - u get reuse of every-little thing that was before, dungeon instances, texture of most enemies -total recycling. I would give 10/10  for such idea it it were municipal waste - not "new" in-game content. At least they knew that some new raids had to be done. But that wasn't the last nail to coffin really.

That last nail was hit when they realized that screwed on Archeage, screwed Defiance and that fast-made something that some call expansion -  won't  provide stady income for more than several months. Ooo-sh*t" - therefore they drastically increased the dificulity of end-game content in hope that more people will buy upgrade parts and some gear from store (for real money). Well - some probably did- most started to rage,  some guilds that were doing raids for years dissolved and these people that remain are getting feral trying desperately farm by any means they can think of. Current situation InEU cut any cooperation to minimum. Only way that benefits is acting predatory - me-me-me!!! Most team-oriented people has already left and one of the last things that made me leave as well - was that people started to looking-for-party for farming other people. Np if we are farming the dungeons- AI responsible for mobs don't mind but what kind of person it takes to farm other people on regular base, that's not competing if u get one party that could deal with people that would be twice stronger and still fail - I mean, not that I sorrow them, way is free.

I"m not raging - don't feel much grief, had really fun and I'd like to say thank you ! - to developers, guild, team-mates, competitors, even to the Abinzur. Today - while I was searching for new MMO  - I started browsing RIFT topics -many people wonder what's that bad noise all about - didn't find any explanation - mostly rage, insults or whipping  "whyyyy", some small portions of above only - therefore, I decided to write whole story I know.

Buddy it was awful to read, not only the english was not proper for writing an article(shorthands is for chatting), grammar was awful too. And what was worse a thread about Rift and you talked all about how they messed up AA. That is just sad man, just sad. Only one paragraph about Rift and even that was just painfully written as to how they look like "re-skinned" of older content. And then you returned to AA again.

You also mentioned they "fucked up" defiance, i don't find anything related to that. My cousins who play defiance in console are having plenty of fun playing the game. And even in defiance forums the complains are usual ones like bugs and exploits or how the game could be better , not "You fucked us up TRION!!" type of complain.

What i understand that you are one of those "sandbox will save us all" crowd and thought AA was the answer to your pathetic weeping. Guess what, Trion thought so too, thus they bought publishing license for AA, i have nothing against the game design but the security system of  AA is like any other korean made online game; abysmal. The only place where AA is even receive a little bit of respect is Japan where basically people LOVE to pay outrageous fee for their online gaming fix.

Well let's forget that, this is Rift forums and you even named your thread "why people hate RIft", you claimed you played RIft, i played the game until a month after release of Nightmare tide and had lots of fun. While playing rift for nearly 16 months  i never for a moment saw any gold seller ads, found bots in world and pvp, reported and saw all of the names vanished from my ignore list after 2 hours, quick action against botting. Go to AA and you see all of those crap running rampant. You still gonna say Trion is responsible for botting/hacking in AA?

Now let's talk about f2p shop, in AA they have APEX, in RIft they have REX. REX was never ever exploited or duped in Rift while as soon as AA came live APEX duping was the favorite activity of many people who bought them. So why is that?

2 different games, same publisher, 2 different developers.

Rift developed and published by trion, don't have botters/hackers/exploiters running rampant.

AA developed by XLGames, published by Trion, filled with all kind of crap.

Who is responsible?  Can you take a guess as an intelligent person?

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

It read like something passed through google translate...  clearly english is not his native language.

The location of the post and the title are wrong.  This is about Trion as a company, not about Rift as a game.  It belongs in general at best.  Unfortunately it would have been better presented in a foreign language as it would have been easier to read.

His English is better than my Polish. Honestly, I manage to read opinions from people from the states who don't really do much better.
  • idonotpanicidonotpanic Member Posts: 4

ty for Your precious feedback -was trying to type that fast rather than enjoying moment and after I saw volume...well - be a good guy plz and correct that so others might  not feel such horror and agony while reading..,  respect You showed for ur language is admirable -because that's the case here, right? I'm sure it was - if could hurry, I would send the improved text asking to overwrite  if it will be 2late for manual edit - no rush for me but others might not take it

as for screwing AA or Defiance - I never tried  Defiance - I'm not judging the content or personal experience from game and I respect Your cousin taste

( it's not a Polish ! )"de gustibus non est disputandum" - like they used to say

"screwed" was used in terms of business venture, gross-income and economy  - would You like to tell me I'm wrong? if You (or any member of Your family) can provide better info - I will update that asap - best to avoid such confusion

also- I could swear that I didn't use word "fuck" - I'm getting old I guess....nvm, will check in for that corrected text in 1 or 2h, can You also update that  f*  with some better phrase - I was trying to avoid  such language

yes -it might come as a  surprise but in Poland native language is....Polish  - your guess was right - it's not EN

    edit :  as for "

Rift developed and published by trion, don't have botters/hackers/exploiters running rampant.

AA developed by XLGames, published by Trion, filled with all kind of crap.

Who is responsible?  Can you take a guess as an intelligent person?"

does it matter - such intelligent debater should know that if we are thinking about financial problems - the clue is not who has caused  but who has these

"The location of the post and the title are wrong.  This is about Trion as a company, not about Rift as a game"

yes indeed - only that it was explanation regarding why people rage on Rift.- I'm sure it's relevant for You, I - think it's in right place, if no1 would know any product from Trion - why would any1 rage on them, I could tell you the name of my local shop but I'm sure that on whatever's that name - I'm sure You never raged on lady that's working there? she might be impolite but You had no no idea of her existence

edit2 - I knew it's just a troll and  level of conversation  will be something like : "I hate you because you are stupid... and because you are so stupid -  I hate you" but  but I'm a man of my word and it's over 1h later  so I guess it wasn't about linguistic purism after all

    TL;DR

Rift is dead and has turned into a microtranfesting dress-up MMO. it had it's chance to be up there with EQ2, at least, but the F2P move killed it with a slow death. one cluster now for USA and the only peeps playing are endgame raid guilds (same as EQ1/2).  ESO has a lot of potential and will be B2P in a few weeks, just hope they dont fall into the farmville mode too.

Not really why I rage but game just seems way to easy, Just macro everything to one button and press it over and over, YAY how exciting.....

And yes that's sarcasm but you get the point, way to easy to macro in this game.......

Wow, that was a tough read. But anyway, Trion is pretty lazy. So I'll agree with you there if you actually wrote that somewhere in there. I actually love Rift and think its full of alot of things that many games should take note from even though its the definition of a WoW-clone. The level scaling is done pretty well, which a lot of games dont do well (FFXIV imo), actually making you feel like you're high level when you do low level content, without sacrificing new abilities, only having the damage scaled down. Takes a lot of thought imo and I wish more games did that. GW2 needs more skills, even though it does the same thing.
  • JaedorJaedor Member UncommonPosts: 1,173
I love Rift too, and play the entire game - PvE, PvP, raiding, Dimensions. I know there are a number of folks who remain unhappy at the decision to remove PvP gear, but a lot more players are doing PvP now (though they may all be scrubs like me lol).

Good luck OP and I hope you find a game you like better.

I don't find too much rage about the game.  There are ppl who don't like it, but it isn't in the league of  'rage' compared to many games.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but they removed all PVP gear?  As in players now fight each other on equal terms?

If so, then that's the best possible PVP in an MMO.  As soon as you remove all the gear you find out who the good PVP'ers are and who the terribads with high level gear were.
  • GardavsshadeGardavsshade Member UncommonPosts: 907
I like Rift, enjoyed it. Rift was never a problem for me.

Trion is. I won't ever play one of their game again. Trion really pissed me off.

(nope, not gonna talk about it)

They removed PvP gear but there is still a huge gear disparity. Those who mostly pvp are at a huge disadvantage against those that raid often.
