you have overarching story and campaigns are part of that story and inside campaigns players make their own
Thats about it from what they are saying
That was my takeaway, as well. Since the game isn't scripted and they don't seem to have any events moving ofrward the EK history/lore then I don't think there's much more beyond that.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Witouth story, a game is just a hollow shell and a bunch of mechanics...
i was hoping they had new and refreshing ideas about how to tell the stories of the worlds they created...

I can already tell you are going to not like this game after the first month of play...
It'll likely be a lot like UO in that regard, with pretty much no story attached to it except for some background/setting information.
A return to the classic sandbox approach. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily. It gives those that want those kind of games something to play.
It does mean however that to keep those who enjoy story content in their game, the gameplay would have to be so good to make up for it. (Which is quite the challenge)
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
