Hi guys
just started playing the game and made a short video about it.
tl;dw: the combat is fun, the graphics are awesome, although not support by nvidia, so not so awesome on my rig
atmosphere is the strongest point so far
I review lots of indie games and MMORPGs

This will all happen once it goes live like with AA, especially as its f2p theres absolutely no incentive not to. Get banned? No problem they'll be back in 5 minutes with a fresh account.
I have to completely agree with this. I have a couple friends from my normal TS server that are extremely excited and waiting for this game however I am still a bit wary because of the whole Archage debacle. I do recall it being posted on this site that the actual devs are setting up a office on the west coast for the NA release, so that makes me feel a bit better that the actual developers will be the ones releasing it here and not another company that doesn't have control over the code at all like Trion with Archage. However I'm still not convinced and waiting to see what it looks like closer to NA release.
I agree 100% but being a sandbox and f2p i'm staying far away from this.
When its f2p the farmers and botters and hackers don't have anything to lose, so its completely rampant. At least in a sub game they have to pay the box price and first months sub and thats a huge deterrent rather then just being banned and whipping up another account 5 minutes later and straight back to botting and hacking in f2p.
I must admit that I agree with this great advice.
Can't ... do ... Asian ... mmos ... /wrists.

More like 30 seconds. Repetitive tasks are real easy for computers. Most of that time will be used determining the account has been banned.
whaT? because korean game reputation wasnt destroyed already ~~
This is the exact problem that TES and Wildstar had. I cant understand why anyone would believe that this would not happen to any hot new game.
hopefully it will be translated, otherwise it will just be massively confusing, much like the Youtube video, which, i am still not sure was meant to promote the game or was instead some kind of satirical statement on it.
other than that i tend to agree, i've never actually played one that i would recommend to a friend
But there is always the possibility of there being a first
Getting stolen credits cards is still harder then simply making a new account in f2p.
I keep an open enough mind to review a game once more details are released and try it if the opportunity arises. It is simply the long history of trying these games and being completely unimpressed by them. It often isn't even the game play itself but the systems and UI that drives me nuts. They LOVE grind. They apparently LOVE bots. Their cash shop and F2P approach is also often highly detracting from game play. They also tend to create games that can be dominated by the very, very small super hardcore minority and often even defend that play style. If their f2p system supports the small percentage who provide the most income for the developer this further exacerbates this issue.
So the end result is I follow a game and it's looking good ... keeps looking good ... release ... G'damn they done fucked it up.
You stay sassy!
I was interested to see if the game was going to look any good regardless of the f2p model but your right. After watching the gameplay it doesn't look good at all.
You are correct on that one. A game code is cheap and in most cases you can make more money with it than it costs. You don't really need stolen CCs but I must admit they are cheaper than I had thought. But then the whole breaking the law and jail thing seems a bit of a downside.
@TheGoblinKing, do you really think all the gold in "insert P2P game here" that is sold via 3rd party sites is farmed by players ?
@op thx for the open beta reminder. 18GB download, biggest game I downloaded so far.
Bots are always rampant at least when a game starts off. It's always been that way and will stay that way no matter if you're a US or an overseas developer. Honestly, if you play correctly they don't really pose an issue besides the potential in-game inflation.
I've never really had any issues with MMOs based on where they are from. Definitely had tons of fun in Rohan and 9Dragons and 2MOONS and RF and RYL and probably 20 others. Usually just played them during summer break and then had to concentrate on school.
I'd have to say I heard about the game in a Guild meeting and thought I'd check it out. I forgot but decided to watch this video when I saw the thread up. Didn't see anything enticing about the game so far.
The archer animation is bad in several areas.I don't like that ugly crouched position she was always standing in.The firing animation is also bad, looks typical of Asian super fast animation, meaning they were too cheapo and lazy to put more frames into the animation.I do at least like that it looks like she actually loads an arrow.
I can't stress this enough Character customization needs to go FAR past looks as looks means nothing since the ONLY thing you will see is the head.Customization needs to see things like traits and various ways to manipulate the starting stats and starting areas ect ect.
Hmm let me think there was a good thing in there, trying to remember what that was now,oh ya i applaud the map uncover idea, that is how it should be in every game.
I also do not see anything in the video describing the depth of combat, the op just says stuff like "it is unique or different" that means nothing to me,explain how.
Combat depth This is the kind of depth is have long been yearning for in game design and NOBODY is going this far. Then there is Elemental properties with the mobs as well as weapon type of damage playing a very large part.
I have yet to see anything in Black Desert that makes we look forward to it,that is not to say there might be some depth and creativity in there,i have just not seen in yet.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I might add that poor frame rates is just a bad game design.A good game engine will allow the designer to build hidden zones within the game lowering the bandwidth/system lag. Also we have heard the term Culling before, basically meaning nothing you can't see gets drawn into the scene.
With the systems of now days every single game should run smoothly, they are just whipping these games out too fast.I have full confidence that being a Beta test will change nothing at launch.
Epic games as well as a couple other's i have seen floating around, have shown videos on how a good tool/software set within the engine can take HD graphics/physics and dumb it down big time while not sacrificing the quality of the look.
HD on Mobile by Epic Games
This is what separates the big boys from the little guys.

I love when gamers think they know how to make a game.. Level design and lag from bandwidth are different things, you have networking. Game engines are just the base , or frame of it all. Its up to the team to prevent issues like Lag, bad performance.
Draw Call, Texture sizes, using LOD correctly. That is naming a few. The reason why teams wipe them out because they will be dated in a year. People will cry OMG the graphics sucks.. So this is another reason why games lag because they stretch the game out so they have a ton of polys on models and higher resolution textures. So you get nice graphics, particles, shaders is where its at today but that's why you may get lag since a lot of that is expensive, so you need to work on it a lot to look good and perform well, something that is not easy to do.
Also pleasing people today is not easy either no matter what a developer, company does, you will always have people who complain period.. no win there. A lot of devs no longer will make or work for companys with MMO's do to not getting any respect nor are they worth it as much as they once was. I see why after working on games professional ..
