Hi, anyone playing this game right now ?
I saw a new patch , is it worth to pay the sub and go back after 1 year?? (darkfall unholy wars)

At launch it was okay because there were people to fight. Now it's boring as hell.
Not worth a sub IMO. Wouldn't even play it if it was f2p but that's jus me.
I think the game will go under this year, so I don't advise people to waste their time on a mmo that may be gone soon.
Game is totally worth it, more after the last patch which added LOT of great changes to combat skills (they needed balance), conflict regionalization, made harvesting more active, and promoted more clan warfare with a reason for clans to conquer nearby hamlets. BUT, I think I should tell you that if I were you and you are really willing to try the game and stay, you should wait till the end of March or June to try it out. Why? Because all this new patches are part of a bigger plan which will end in June.
Aventurine, the company behind the game, is changing the game after many many player imput, being this patch the second one of this kind. The next one, which is planned for March, is going to add Enchanting (using mats skinned from diffent mobs around the world, you can add stats to armors and weapons, which add TONS of value to mob spawns in the game and consequently, to player cities near those mobs and also makes a huge impact on economy making it better and trading is going to be massive between players and clans), dinamic events around the world marked in the map (pve events that become PvP hotspots for everyone each hour), new armors, balance to current armors and crafting recipies. And the one in May-June, will finally add a trial system (you have the whole game to try and all the content to play but you will have restrictions in trading, creating clans, how many prowess you can earn, which is the equivalent of character progression in this game, etc), an alligment system to help new players and create consequences in being PK outside of clan warfare, and a new tutorial.
So for old players, now or March is a great time to return to the game, but for new players in my opinion it will be in May-June when that patch comes.
Anyways, the game has a system similar to Wildstar, EvE etc where you can buy 1 month susbcription with ingame gold from other players (who bought it with real money and sold it ingame), so once you pay the game (the game just costs the month, you don't have to pay for the box anymore just pay a monthly subscription and you can get inside the game and play fully) you can earn money and buy your game time with ingame gold.
People here bashing the game are usually people that played the old darkfall, or played darkfall unholy wars at the beginning but I have to tell you that the game has changed A LOT in the last year, and by a lot I mean it is a totally different experience, which will be fully great this May-June with the last 2 patches I explained to you. The game is in NO WAY going down this year, in fact population greatly increased in NA server this last months, also in EU server but less because EU was always less populated than NA, and after this last patch population has increased a lot, you just have to read the official Player Subscribed Forum and read how many old clans have returned and how people are praising Aventurine for this last patches and how many friends have returned to the game or how many are going to return in March or June. Add to that the trial system, which will make the game get tons of people as every trial does. That can't make the game go down, totally the opposite

What do you mean comments? Te D.U.E.L system is a system where you buy 1 DUEL for 15$, then you can sell it ingame for ingame gold in the auction House. Using 1 DUEL gives you 30 days of subscription time.
So you can play the game without expending real life money if you earn gold ingame
Darkfall its one game you need forget
Barely survive , and core public has gone after changes from DF to DFUW
In this point i recomend mortal online another game with low low population but fun
I like Face of Mankind also but its other game with population issues
And finaly Darkfall its ARENA
Not sandbox at all

This is true. The only reasons I don't play are becaues (1) I don' t have time to develop my character and commit to a clan, and (2) I get vicious ping from where I live and that matters a lot in this game.

I disagree that Mortal Online is better then DF. I have to admit though that I have not played Mortal Online for a long time. Face of Mankind is a good recommendation though. I did however not play the current version of the game. So not sure how big the population is at the moment, but it does not need a huge population (not as big as a game like Darkfall needs) to feel populated.

i resubbed only to find you that its still a far worser game then df1..
Not only that but its a ghost town on the servers...
For an average gamer the combat is way to complicated to pick up, far to many bindings and you have to aim.
You have 16 skill buttons, 3 or 4 weapons to swop between, pots food ect and you have to aim. So around 25 driect buttons to press and aim.
Average joe aint gona be bothered with this hence low pop of uber kiddies.
Darkfall it's for sure the best full loot game right now, Mortal Online should be better, but it's not because the update / buggy its so damn annoying.
Darkfall getting better if people don't thinking to much.

Its not the number of abilities that is the issue, it is the extremely unintuitive and hard to use UI. Many mmos have a large number of skills to choose from, especially if you add in potions and the like. However, I haven't played any with as awful a control system as DF.
I wouldn't be surprised if I did the 6 months sub once they patch alignment and enchanting
