What a huge rush of fond memories, lol !
The original Descent was played to death by me and my neighbour when it was released 20 years ago. LAN parties galore !
Playing this game with a VR headset is absolutely guaranteed to make you puke in 10 minutes, but it will be an absolutely glorious 10 minutes...
Ah, so this is why a dedicated team of fans recreating the original Descent with a modern graphics engine got d*cked over: So somebody could use the name for yet another MOBA-like game which has little to do with the original.
Sorry, no. I'm eagerly awaiting the revamp of the fan-made game (removing any references to Descent), but this one can go jump in a lake.
BTW, the fan-made version? Not asking for a single dime, no begging for cash on Kickstarter. Just a bunch of guys trying to bring an old favorite to a modern audience. I"ll support that over cash grabs like this any day. It would have been a true revival of the Descent franchise, which this is certainly not.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!
We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

"Descent: Underground will be a session-based action MMO in the vein of World of Tanks"
WoT is not an mmo its just a lobby based shooter but with tanks.. its like calling battlefield series an mmo...
Is anyone else sick of "crowdfunding" and "kickstarter" mentioned in pretty much every games announcement these days???
Its getting to be the norm and I don't think its a good thing..
Playing Descent in Deathmatch-mode against another human player/s is mayhem personified.
Six degrees of freedom allow for some really insane maneuvers and tactics in the twisting corridors and large caverns. Your mind insists on trying to impose the concepts of "floor" and "ceiling" but you are a weightless craft in a 3D space, so "up" and "down" is only relevant to your current orientation...
I doubt my reflexes are up to playing this game successfully nowadays, but I'll sure give it a try !
It's like selling pre-orders that you don't have to refund AND if something goes wrong during production and the game sucks or isn't completed . . .oh well, thanks for all the fish!
they only want 600K, and a single player campaign for 600K is unlikely.
There was some space game on Kickstarter that got almost 2 million and it's total junk and no single player although they had more than enough money.
Descend hinted on stretch goals though, I'm betting my shiny metal #%# that the million$ goal is "single player campaign"
I'll pledge later today
While there is always risk to a kickstarter or any pre-production project this is a game I really enjoyed and the developer team have a passion for this genre, listen to feedback from fans and stand a good chance of creating descent in a modern context which just raises the level of awesome.
I have pledged as if it is successful, the packages represent great value, good luck to them!
While I can appreciate many of the comments about D:U not being a Descent game in the purist fashion. It is a pre- Descent model they are working on. You can't expect it to be an identical clone. There needs to be something new and exciting for the old players and to captivate the new ones. I am looking forward to seeing the compromises they make between the old game and with what is currently popular and making development studios money.
This is their passion, but it is also their income and it needs to meet those demands as well.
