I actually think the opposite.
They'll shut down Landmark, and focus the developmental efforts onto getting EQN out the door - something, unlike Landmark, that might actually be capable of becoming a success and making them a good ROI.
Originally posted by Pepeq LOL, you have to ask yourself this simple question... how is shutting down a forum going to actually impact the corporate structure? Just look at this site... if they got rid of 100 sub forums, do they recoup any financial losses? Forums cost little to nothing in the grand scheme of things. I sincerely doubt they are heavily moderating them to begin with. Sound more like, this game isn't ready for prime time any time soon so we're just going to shut it down until there is a game to discuss.
Because the forums are under SOE, and belong to Sony Entertainment. Seriously you couldn't figure that out yourself? You do realize companies consider domains as assets, and that IS PART of a corporate restructure.
And if you actually took time to read the OP, you would realize that they aren't shutting down the whole site, just two forums on it. If it was a matter of not owning the site, the whole damn thing would have been shutdown/moved.

This. Unless they have some huge plans for content addition. Everyone I know who was playing landmark (focus on the word was) has moved on completely.

Yeah, if they still have some decent talent, and maybe a couple of new/interesting ideas to separate EQN from the pack, they may have a pretty good shot at a successful MMO based on the name recognition as well.
Hear that sound? It's a toilet flushing, as another game company circles the drain.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
EQNext will be cancelled, Landmark will be canceled. H1Z1 will be their bread and butter.
You have read it here first. Just wait and see...
I definitely agree with this, EQN I feel is never going to see the light of day. I think they will take what they can toward another project but I doubt we will see anything remotely close to what it was originally promising. H1Z1 is looking to be their main focus for now and while I think its utter trash as a game it seems to have built itself a decent player base on Steam. It has been consistently in the top 20 most played games for weeks now no doubt thanks to streamers plugging it like its the next DayZ.
That certainly will not calm the fears of the fans, on the contrary. It is a strange move, whose purpose is beyond me. Not really comforting that they essentially shut down communication. A bad 180° degree twist away from the policy that had before like "open talk about everything".

Before everyone gets too excited by this Forum Consolidation it is not being done to EQ Not! alone. It seems to be part of an overall restructure of forums by "They Break Games" On the 5th of March the EQ2 forums lost :

I suspect if people care to look similar things will have happened to the Everquest Forums too.
What it may indicate is a move to a single forum structure for all three games prior to a consolidation of some sort.
"A communication disruption can mean only one thing... invasion." Err...
I think if you restrict communication so heavily, you expect a shitstorm, because you have something to say that people won't like. Nothing else seems to make sense to me. It has "bad news hitting in 3...2....1..." written all over.

Yep something seems to be in the works it will be interesting to see exactly what.
If they are rebooting the title, maybe they will actually get it right. Instead of merely playing on the EQ IP, maybe they will actually make a proper successor to EQ1. You can't tell me I was the only one who was really let down when they released the initial presentation for EQN after all the massive hype buildup. When I saw the cartoony graphics, console-esq game play, and heavily GW2 influenced gameplay, I wanted to cry.

I suspect this is one step in the re-branding from SOE to DGC -- consolidate the forums prior to a new web host. It is imperative to move assets out of the SOE label (soe.com, soe.station.com, et al) as quickly as possible, regardless of CN/DGC's long-term plans for the individual titles / IPs. The SOE corporate entity is the past.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
Why even bother consolidating? First some head people are "let go" then they said storybricks wasn't happening and now forum "restructuring" which why even bother when all the topics could be left as is like Lore for those interested in that stuff, and events and guides sounds a worthy section to have around.
Was soooo hopeful for EQN but there has been just one thing after another that diminishes my interest and increases my skepticism for the game.

... but H1Z1 is terrible.
Should've been called Dayjob Studios.
So you never looked but you just thought there wasn't one, that makes a lot of sense.

"Corporate Restructuring"

This had me on the floor laughing!!
