A post on the ArcheAge forums continues, or hopefully ends, the controversy created last week with a gift sent out to former players. "Return to ArcheAge" packages included several RNG boxes, potions and Library access scrolls. However, several random boxes also included the $100 "Secrets Pack" and the Cynafin Dolphin which gave its name to the issue now known as "Dolphingate". Players loudly decried the move. Trion has subsequently admitted the error in judgment and is making good with players.
As of this writing, all ArcheAge players should have received:
All players will receive a "Community Appreciation Reward" (I might have missed a detail or two below)
Non-paying players (includes patrons who ONLY got patron via purchase of APEX from auction house):
4 Bound Pirate Yata Chest
2 bound worker's comp (500)
1 bound vocation tonic
10 Golden library index
1 Tyrenos indexPaying Patrons (paid Trion with real money for Patron or for anything else at any time in the past "by midnight last night", [including] APEX bought with real money, but NOT APEX bought via auction house):
Cyanfin mount
Starlight Glider Customization
7 day passes to Library Floors
5 bound Worker's Comp (500 labor)
2 bound vocation tonics
30 bound Golden Library Index
10 bound Tyrenos Index
10 xp potion
1 of each lucky point (Sun, Moon, Star)
1 of each archeum essence (Sun, Moon, Star)

What do you think of Trion's move? Does it help, hurt, change nothing? Let us know in the comments.

I remember when this was going to revolutionize the mmorpg genre.
For some reason, only crazies get into betas and spout this nonsense, then the rest of us have to deal with the letdown.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

How is this 'making good'?
They're giving away in-game items, most of which are going to inactive accounts. These were items that were already available in game prior to this charade so it's not like doing any of this cost them a dime.
In return, they're getting publicity from every MMO site on the net despite having the WORST launch (can we even call it a launch?) in MMO history. This isn't 'making good', this is fleecing MMO sites for free advertising.
I'd be shocked if the whole thing wasn't planned.
Dividing the playerbase is just a bad idea. Without the free players being able to access content, the paying players usually don't have enough people to do the content they want, so they leave, and it creates a sense of elitism in the community. When paying players treat free players like crap, the free players are less likely to stick around, which leads to less free players turning into paying players, which means even less players for paying players to play with, so more paying players leave... repeat until the game shuts down due to lack of funds.
Why the hell would someone buy 600 of anything to get a dolphin? You gotta be kidding...right?
I left AA when they had the big crash during the new island with castles fiasco. They never made good!
To make good they need to buy me some cool stuff in TESO.

Thought Trion was going to announce P2P server.
Guess not.
You are a bit off in the facts. Trion supposedly never stated the following:
"Paying Patrons (paid Trion with real money for Patron or for anything else at any time in the past "by midnight last night", [including] APEX bought with real money, but NOT APEX bought via auction house):"
This was posted on reddit by a non-Trion employee and spread here on these forums by a white knight. The reddit poster paraphrased a bit. Apparently Trion never stated the part about paying money ANYTIME in the past. The message on their official forum reads:
"All active paying accounts may claim the following items:
• 1 Cyanfin"
and
"*To be considered active, an account must have logged in at least once in the last 30 days prior to 11:59 PM GMT (4:59 PM PDT) on 3/19/2015."

No where did TRION say that anyone who paid real money in the past would get a dolphin mount. The actual wording is not very specific but my opinion is that Trion only gave the mount to those who paid real money in the last 30 days. I paid for patron for the first 5 months and I logged in during the time frame but I did not receive the mount and neither did any of my friends who have left the game.
I sure wish Trion would learn to communicate clearly. If their internal communication was better, they would not have had this issue in the first place.
If they did, I'd go back and play in a heartbeat.
Remember when game controversies revolved around things like gameplay elements?
Now it's about who got what free stuff versus who got what in their paid downloadable content packs.
This industry is pathetic and is dead.
Trion gets the "Best of the Worst" award....congrats!
Stop angering the white knight with facts. It will only result in him starting new threads with his usual made up stuff in response
Let's party like it is 1863!
I must have misunderstood something. People are buying 600 or so boxes , maybe more, to get a dolphin?
Have to rethink what cash grab means, I can play the game, if I did play with out playing a dime, mmo drop expansions and lock content and level is a cash grab.
