i been playing since beta and been active for about 90% since release and honestly this argument over the combat system is funny. The combat system isnt really deep nor is it fancy infact id say mediocre compared to other action mmos like neverwinter and guild wars 2. But what makes ESOs combat engaging is the build diversity you can do with it compared to other games in the genre. You of course will have your cookie cutter super strong builds for each class but you still also have other builds you can do as well. Also late game active blocking is your bread and butter in pvp though in pve you just use your stuns and knockdowns for pve no real need to active block most of the content.
Havent returned, thinking about it. But.... Cant find any info on what has changed since june last year.
Is the questing still "follow that road " design?
Is questing still the only way to level?
what is max level now, 50 or 60?
How is it with grouping, is it possible to group up with friends and adventure together?
I want to play an archer with bow like in Skyrim, is that possible now?
When you have too many questions, it is obvious you will not enjoy this game.
For me I really enjoy my time here, it is a vast improvement than before. They are bugs here and there, occasional CTDs but I am sure they'll fix them later.
edit: "like in skyrim", yeah the game is not for you, better stick to skyrim.

the questing system is still follow that road though pretty involved compared to most other questing hub games imo
You can level by grinding or questing its your choice though you will miss out on tons of skill points along the way if you do not quest as it nets skill points for main story of each zone and also your main story quest. You can also level in pvp though even going to the 1-49 battleground is not recommended until later on 20s or above when you flashed out some of your builds.
max is level 50 still but once at 50 you go from vet level 1 thru 14 and there is a alternative achievement system in place called the champion system that is 3600 champion points to spend in trees
Bow is viable in both pve and pvp though its not going to have the range that skyrim had or the aim and shoot. Its auto arrow to target but has some decent dps.

i owned skyrim and have 100s of hours in it but never liked vanilla skyrim I instead used a ton of survival and sandbox mods to make it much more realistic but with that said I wouldnt go into ESO expecting anything at all like skyrim other than locations and lore etc. Play it like a mmorpg and its a very good solid game. But if you play it with the pre-determination its skyrim online your going to hate it. There are some things similar like the crafting and the familiar out in the middle of no where quest givers running up or the small dungeons and delves with there own lore and stories. But other than that and stealing, murder etc its a mmorpg with a lot of phasing and story driven. I like the pvp better than warhammer online had and it has a similar pvp to dark age of camelot.

I have the Imperial Edition and played for 2 months. The Vet ranks was the biggest issue för me and all the bugs. Bankbug Im looking at you. I do love Elder scrolls, so I will give it a last try.
You find it great there because a lot of them agree with you and their broken forum registration system is keeping a lot of other paying customers off of those forums, so you're mostly getting the opinion of early adopters there, not the newer players coming in who may have different opinions after just starting the game rather recently.
Funny reading about all the people that dislike the game. I have been playing it since release and am FAR from being bored. I spend way to much time in it like any game I enjoy. The haters really need to mention a game they like better so we can see where they are really coming from. Also I'm sure there isn't one yet. PTW Archeage I hear good and bad. I didn't make it past 10 minutes so I can't really say. Anyways, back to ESO, I see tons of people playing and each month more pour in. You can tell by visiting the noobie towns or any bank. Of your going to talk bad about a game others like please try to let us know what game out there that you like better otherwise go troll elsewhere, thx and have a nice day. : )
Something is not right i have all heavy armor, purple rank 1 ,fighting rank 1 mobs getting hit like im naked it's as if armor is not working in game?.
I have same setup as before should not be having problems doing same skill rotations as well.
have you repaired your gear ? lol but seriously even in vet ranks you shouldnt be getting eat alive in heavy armor. I run 5 medium 2 heavy and it takes 3 mobs at once to even bring me to have to heal. The new armor system in 1.6 made the game especially in vet ranks pretty much faceroll now. Its super easy to level in vet areas now.
I came back a day before patch 1.6 and was impressed with the work that they put into that - (and the size of the patch).
I really felt there were vast improvements made.
Yesterday I played after PvP changes to siege damage, etc. Great improvements to the flow of the PvP.
Zerg play will always be a viable tactic, and sometimes zerg is fun, but ESO is doing a good job of tweaking and adding to the mix so that flanking and skirmish are viable ways to affect the Alliance war. (and are great fun).
So mainly enjoying min/maxing my Imperial Templar, but also enjoying crafting, stealing sh*t, looking for leet gear, PvP and vet dungeons. The road to get there, through their quests, is relatively painless imo. Some quests are entertaining, some are fantastic, but at least 1/2 feel like a big chore right out the gate. Which is a shame as they're better than the majority of quests I've had to do in other games.
I think the best quest line I've done was the Inquisitor in SWTOR. That kept me playing straight to the end, unfortunately, after that I found the PvP to be cartoony button mashing. Uninstall. Guild Wars 2? Some great quests, some great PvP, but felt that to be same.
ESO? I've heard the same button-mashing critique leveled at it. Meh. If it's not your flavor of crack I can see that. All have action bars, and shooty pew pew magic, limited melee animations per character. However, the depth of character creation/combos, the switching between action bars, the way the environment is a factor, resource mgmt for movement/defense vs offense, champion points, robust siege, repairable bases...I just think ESO PvP is better.
I think that's where ESO is starting to shine, at least for me. The combat improvements: animations, sounds, shaking, movement - the differences in feel between armors , weapons and magic - feels like they carry some weight. I have redone my character at least five times since beta, and each time I find out a little something more to improve my game. And tomorrow, if I want to do that, I just have to pay the price and I can try something else out. Fun.
I think ESO needs to continue developing ways to let the player's create the content and the fun. The world is gorgeous, but you only see it once sprinting thru to get to endgame. I hope that zeni can continue to make money and keep going down the path to improvement.

There are a handful of obsessives who stalk forums like these. I do find it amusing to see people who clearly don't understand the game or the combat system going on and on about the "superiority" of games with banks of hotkeys; complaining that you don't level up fast enough; and so on. For crissakes, just go back to WoW. Seriously - if you want that game, why demand that other games play in exactly the same way?
More to the point, why write dozens of posts trashing a game that you don't like? Move on already.
I took a few months break, but I liked it before, I just like it more now. I liked it at release because despite the gold spam, the bots, and the bugs, I was expecting all of that at release from the dozens of other MMOs I played at release. The combat feels much more weighty now, I love the dye system, the justice system does make the game feel more immersive, the bots and spam are gone, some great mods have made for me the UI perfect, the game feels much more polished now, and with my new Falcon Northwest Titax X Tiki on the way I won't have anymore huge FPS drops because Zenimax has no clue over why my dual 580Ms are having issues since update 5. Champion System was a big plus. Animations are much better. Love my new Senche Tiger :-). Grouping seems to have improved. Many dungeons feel more interesting since they enlarged so many. So for me, I love the game.
Now things that I wish would improve:
1) Anchors that mean something and aren't all the same or so static.
2) World bosses that make the world feel more dangerous when roaming around.
3) Much more solo post 50 content for those who do not like the design of forcing your Breton to fight other Brentons which is to me ridiculous. I can't imagine in Vanilla WOW getting to 80 and then taking my Human Mage into Orgrimmar. Bad bad design, but I've come to accept it and will enjoy it for what it is.
4) More role playing aspects. Lord of the Rings Online still feels a bit better in the RPG side things to do department. I miss the concerts people would do in the Shire :-) hehe.
5) Just a more dynamic feel to the world..less feel of going left to right or down to up on the maps.
Anyway, game to me is at least an 85 out of 100 now and I expect it to improve further once they get the console stuff out of the way in June.

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing. PS3

lol, yeah, i didnt see any hate, ZOS invited those people to try the game. So your quarel is with ZOS, not the people.
Nah. It's more like seeing people who try something out without making any attempt to understand how it works; they then go and just write simply uninformed things about the game. For example, a limited number of abilities at any given time is a deliberate design choice - and there are people in this thread complaining that the game lacks dozens of rows of hotkeys. Anyone who did the slightest research on the game would have known that this was a basic feature. We see people who want a game to be exactly like another game come here and bitterly complain about the fact that it was, well, different. God forbid that there be any actual innovation in MMO games!
And we also see people who spend a lot of time attacking games that they don't play, or that they stopped playing many months ago. I get burned out on games too; I don't spend my time crusading against them after I'm done.

There are plenty of us who see it as some of the fans that have already poisoned the ESO community long ago and continue to do so. You can see in how they take anything said negative about the game as a direct personal attack against them, then respond to the posters of the those comments in a negative personal tone. This is a discussion forum that is going to discuss all aspects of the game to include the negatives, positives, and any thing in between. Maybe there is a forum somewhere on the internet that only discusses the positives of ESO and either deletes or locks the negative posts. This isn't that forum though, sorry.
Lack of subscription did not make it less boring. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
No but fixing all the bugs, implementing alternate advancement systems, promoting group play as well as solo play and fixing the weightiness and visceral feel of the combat sure as hell did.
ESO is one of the best games I've ever played since the 1.6 patch, I let my subscription expire but if they start offering really cool stuff in the crown store I'll gladly renew for the extra 1500 crowns per month.
