The Secret World: 'Golden Week' Opens with Double Ability Points

Funcom has announced that Golden Week has kicked off in The Secret World. During the week, several interesting items and bonuses are available in the Item Shop. Most notably, however, is the news that players will earn double ability points and will have a chance to hunt down the Guardian of Gaia, a randomly spawning golem that can award players with some awesome in-game items.  Event bags are also part of Golden Week, each packed with great stuff.

Oh, awesome! I have been thinking about playing again for a while, and hunting down "Blingzilla" has always been fun!

    Thanks for the heads up!

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Played for a bit last night was Ok fun...

At least 40 people would rock up to one of those world bosses (but i bet there were many more that i could not see) and the FPS would take a huge dive down to 5-10fps lol.

Even with that it reminds me of how mmorpgs used to be / supposed to be.

I never was a big fan of the "world boss" concept, but I admit it can be fun to participate sometimes. When these golden behemoths walked around last time, there was a Lawbreaker (Shannon's forum cabal) gathering for the event, a bunch of lowbie jumped onto the Kingsmouth one - and got our asses kicked :) Then slowly a smaller mob (not the mob in mmo terms image) of 30-40 folks gathered with torches and pitchforks and shotguns, and melted it into a giant heap of gold bling.

Was fun, loved the attack where everyone's flying into the air and scattering around :) (it's much more "world boss"-y than for example LotRO's Roving Threats, which could be solo by a well-geared lvl100... nobody's soloing Blingzilla, that's for sure)

Man, I forgot this game even existed.  Such a huge ARG and many years of build up for something so.. standard in the MMORPG genre.

Reminds me how FFXIV changed into WoW with its re-release.. and how SWG did the same a decade ago.

    Great, now I'm depressed.

Love how this announcement has no start or end date. What do they think we can just magically guess the dates? I'd love to know so i can plan when to play.

/confused... it's right there in the first paragraph of the announcement... "The event has just started today and will last until the 1st of April." (and "today" was on the 24th, but you can guess that from the week part of "Golden Week")
