I have an nVidia GEForce 660Ti card in 2 of my PCs. My main PC is hooked up to a ViewSonic VX2433wm. If I use the "native" 1920x1080 resolution, my desktop edges are off the screen, cutting about 2/3 of my leftmost icons off and submerging my quicklaunch bar (at the bottom) totally out of view. I use the "resize" function and set my resolution 1842x1036 and the view is fine. It has been this way for the 5 years or so I have had this set up. I just thought my monitor sucked
Yesterday, I took my 2nd PC from the bedroom to hook up as a DVR with my 55" Samsung Plasma 6500 series smart TV. Again, the "native" resolution of 1920x1080 makes the desktop go off screen. I adjusted it to fit, like my desktop PC.
Now, I am wondering if this is my monitors that are not performing as intended, or could it be my nVidia video card because of the same "glitch" on 2 different monitors? Any thoughts?
Thanks

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Not an expert here, but you may try searching for "nvidia scaling overscan/underscan" or "viewsonic vx2433wm overscan/underscan". For example:

I hope this helps.
Can somebody tell me about Large Format Display? Would one of these work as a monitor for PS4 / Xbox One?

Mikeha: I think Large Format Displays are displays designed for businesses. If you want a display with good viewing angles that displays ads for your business 24/7 then Large Format Display is best.
Probably you could use Large Format Display in home and for gaming, but I think a TV might be better option.
Televisions have Overscan/Underscan - it has to do with how older analog CRTs work, and it carried over to some LCD controllers. A lot of monitors are actually rebranded televisions. If you are using HDMI or a DVI/HDMI converter it's especially common.
Ghabbo, the link is someplace I can look further into. That sounds like the problem I am having (I think), but they are talking ATI, not nVidia. I'll poke about Tom's Hardware some more and see what I can find. Thanks
Quiz, yes the BIOS and all is just fine. It is when Windows (7x64) get going that the desktop gets strange.
Bascola, Thanks for that tip! I seem to recall a setting like that when I hooked my Laptop to it for awhile. I'll look into that!
[EDIT]
I just looked into nVidia's control panel and found the "scaling tab"! I turned scaling off and voila! Desktop sits pretty at 1920x1080. Thanks, all
I feel so foolish when it is something simple like this. Now, onto my TV
