In the game's current state I would not rush out and buy it again if I need to repurchase the game.
Pros - Fast Leveling from 1-60 you can do it yourself no need for a service just have fun with it. Lots of players means you will always have people playing the game. Fun items and neat extra things like names of certain NPCs that comical as well as quirky quest names.
Cons (this is a large list) - Lots of players so you will always find stupid people and people who just want to advance themselves without playing the game with others. community is based on people who have not been playing MMOs very long so there is a lot of pop culture in the game. PVP is a joke in this game it singles out a single player in a game that is based on group PVP desgin. Gear is everything in this game and if you do not enjoy the raid style of play after level 60 there is not a lot to do. Even if you want to PVP you will be against better equiped players since they enjoy a different playstyle then crush you on your perfered play style due to gear differences.
Basically, this is the noob MMO if you want a richer more advanced MMO that makes you nostalgic for EQ then the best thing I can tell you is play EQ still a good game.
If PVP is your cup of tea go play DAoC. If you can handle the controls wait for Warhammer Online I think that game is going to be fantasic.
All in all I give WoW a 2/10 for being an EQ clone with minor poorly done DAoC rip offs.
WoW doesn't level grind much, because of quests thankfully, but quests are usually limited to only a few types which becomes repetitive after a bit. Graphics are colorful, a bit for my taste, but it's alright.
After lvl 60 there's not much to do really.
Low replayability imo after lvl 60 (1-3 months). Overall a fun game in the beginning, but becomes boring after lvl 60.
I'm having a blast and I don't normally like fantasy based games.
It is EASILY the best built MMORPG EVER. Bugs are few and far between and there is more quests than you will EVER do in a lifetime.

There's more then enough material easily available to help you decide if WoW fits your playing style. If reading is too difficult, check out the free trial.
I've been playing since the betas and still find the game fun and relaxing. The quests are well designed and written; making your journey to the upper levels one of the better aspects of the game. Also, the WoW is a well polished game with few bugs or client side performance issues.
If you're not into PvP, you have a choice to join a Regular or RP server. You can still enjoy PvP, but it's at your own discretion.
About gear... Gear can help, but by no means will gear make-up for poor tactics. I can't tell you how often I see PvE nooblets standing in one place whacking away with their epic items, only to be owned by players decked out in a few blue items.
I guess I should perpetuate the gear myth; all the more CP for me. ^_^
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
The only problem with WoW is the community. People can either be downright stupid or unnecessarily harsh. Of course, this might only apply for the older servers.
Doesn't mean I fault the game for that, though. Give it a try. The gameplay's just superb. Do a little research on the server types and/or their population or roll a character where your friends are.

In my experience, this seems to vary greatly between servers and even between horde and alliance. I have toons on different servers and noticed a remarkable difference. For some reason horde seems to attract an older players.

????? are you kidding me - the game gets stronger at 60 - you can go for epic stuff or go for PVP epic stuff. IMO the only draw back sometimes is the time it takes to do these things, but the game certainly doesnt get boring at 60 unless your not in a guild that runs the big instances or you dont have much time to spend in Battle grounds.
WoW is from my opinion the best MMORPG made up till this point.. there is still lots of improvement neccesary to have the ultimate best but its totally worth your money and time

Only downside... waiting in line to play. Pick a lower-populated server.

Overall I would say yes it is worth it. There is good and bad much like any other game. The worst is the continuing poor performance, lag and bugs that don't get addressed. Customer service is absolutely terrible. It's what you make of it - find some good folks and have fun exploring and leveling. So much is made of having uber gear and casual players really have no chance in PvP against the hard core players who have the time to run the instances a billion times for that one epic drop. I've made some great friends and that too has value.
Originally posted by Kazanukari i have read everything and i probably will get it, but wats the difference between RP and regular servers?
the idea was that RP you would actually play and talk like the character's - meaning you would talk about in game things and quests like the middle ages or renissance times. But i have tried it and it just doesnt work that way people still talk about real life stuff and dont get into the role playing thing. i would say go with PVP or PVE personally. PVP is tougher sometimes at the lower lvl's but as you get higher lvl its alot of fun. IMO
Well to be honest, for the longest time I didn't want to play WoW cause I heard a lot about an unfriendly community (so you got downright stupid players, kiddies who think they need to act even younger than they are and so on) and one day a friend came over and handed me his friend's key.
If it hadn't been XMas time I would have been down at the stores right away. No seriously though, WoW has quite a bit to offer. A Char-Class for pretty much every taste, a well designed world (yes I like it colorful ) plenty of quests nice gear, fun seasonal events and all in all the community is not as bad as it seems. I mean yes, of course you have some idiots, but tell me one mmorpg that doesn't.
Another thing that I apprecite is the regular maintenace, though on the other hand, for that amount of maintenace the servers lag a bit too much, but it is still in a well playable limit for the most part.
And yes the quests are fun but start repeating after a while. But then again.. in which game don't you have similar quests over and over? If you actually read the quest information, it doesn't matter all that much, imo.
One thing that actually bothered me though, is the time the support team needs to reply and work things out. I mean seriously, Blizzard should be able to afford either more ppl or better quality ppl.. but oh well.
Other than that I can only agree.. try the Free Trial and check it out yourself. It's always the best to make up your own mind.

Man its like nothing you have ever played - its the coolest game i have ever played period. do yourself a favor and buy it - its fantastic.
Regardless of the end game content (which many hate), the leveling 1-60 by itself is the best ever.
Get it.. you wont regret it!

It takes maturity to play the horde Big, ugly.... What do u think people acting like 2yr olds would do?
thats the reason why the horde is more mature
The state of the servers is attrocious at the moment. Lag galore and queues to get online - 40mins plus in some cases.
I wouldn't rush to buy this game, the developer doesn't seem to care about its money paying community.
