Just to confirm on this end, we indeed do not plan to continue with in-game messaging for items such as this (though we will still message if the server is going down, for example). We understand this was not appreciated or desired, and will find better ways to message limited Crown Store items that do not interfere with your gameplay experience.
Once again the community let it's feelings be known and ZOS heard them.

I will have to say these guys do actually listen. They may not respond to every little thing but on major issues they usually will.
Although I didnt understand the need for the message anyways. Its on the launcher, no in game message was even needed.
ZOS is a great company for listening to players.
Ever since TU launched I'm lovin my ESO game times!
Nice!
... and very quick.

this is hilarious, i can't believe people made such a big deal about this (actually i can believe it) and they gave in to the whining lol
other mmo's have their item shop buttons permanently plastered on the screen, which ESO does not, which IMO is much much worse than what eso tried here.
oh well, at least people are happy until the next thing pops up they dont approve of, ha!
Yes they do and that's precisely the reason why many people dislike cash shops -- not that they exist but due to annoying in game aggressive marketing.
The ESO announcements were extremely innocuous by comparison to some MMOs that spam the chat whenever someone buys a premium item they're trying to push. Neverwinter was particularly bad about this during the couple of weeks I tried it way back when it first soft launched with their long open beta.
The spotted senche once per day spam wasn't really much of an issue but if you read the posts, some saw it as the beginning of the slippery slope of in-game marketing and wanted to nip it in the bud... looks like ZOS got the message.

Agreed, looks like they went through a few teething problems in the switch away from being a P2P game, but they seem to be getting a handle on things now
Power to the Makers.
screwing the players by broadcasting one line of text per day? i see your point.
i guess mommy was wrong! whining will get your way, at least in the mmo industry.
Since when is expressing one's opinion or saying that you don't like something "whining"?
Probably only if it is actually presented as "whining".
I'm fairly certain that you have strong opinions and would not hesitate to post on a game forum your likes and dislikes. Would that be considered "whining"? Or maybe I'm wrong and you don't do that?
It must always be "ok" for players to express their dislike of something and in my opinion only if they do it in a constructive manner. Even if the game developers have data that shows otherwise and of course chooses not to listen.
Maybe Zenimax realized it was overkill and that sending out e-mails AND having it on the launcher was enough?
Otherwise what we get is no communication between players and developers and I'm fairly certain developers want to know what their players are thinking, even if it is a small demographic.

That's how I feel too. My problem with F2P games and cash shops has always been about pushy advertising and marketing and sleazy coercion through crippled free play.
Neither of those currently exist in ESO and I want to keep it that way.

To that end, I remember when going to the movies meant only sitting through advertisements about movies or movie related offerings (moviephone anyone?)
Now we go and have to sit through car commercials. A friend of mine just writhes in his seat muttering "see, we paid for this privilege!"
I'd rather cut down on in game advertisements as much as possible.

This should have been a No-Brainer! They should not have had those ad messages to begin with. Oh well, good move....
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
They hired a new guy - I forget his name - to be the cash shop lead. I think he's learning on the job
