Yeah WoW's prot warrior felt right to me. Shockwave and shield slam always felt satisfying

Darkfall's melee combat was most immersive in terms of visuals.  Can't really beat first person perspective games like Skyrim for immersive visuals when it comes to melee combat, since the perspective more closely matches what it'd feel like in real life. Both games had lousy combat gameplay though.

Probably WOW for most immersive in terms of gameplay (getting into the flow state.)

Non MMO: The souls games and bloodborne.

MMOs: Blade & Soul, Age of Conan, GW2, and ESO if it didnt have targetting.

I also like traditional tab target but all tab target mmos play the same way so saying which one is better is all about being  responsive, smooth and polished, in that case WoW has the best traditional tab target combat.

You obviously havent played it, the melee combat is pretty neat, if anything its the only good thing you could rescue from that game. Plays like a FPS/Skyrim which is pretty impressive for an mmo, but you just said wow had the best melee combat system (which can be automated with macros, how fun) so you probably just enjoy shitty tab target combat.

    I enjoyed melee in DDO.

Try to stay away from making things personal, both of you have a different opinion, thats not a reason to let the shit hit the fan, certainly not for a future emperor..

and i agree with Picard... Mortal onlines combat has no depth at all from a tactical and strategical pov. But if thats the kind of combat you dig and gets you immersed in a game, so be it, after all its your opinion.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Theres alot of tactics involved and teamwork, but I guess managing cooldowns is more "tactical".  Anyways the thread title did say "most immersive", and Id say first person view is as immersive as you can get...

Hands down, one of the few with multi directional melee combat & combo system in an mmo, all others either fall short into 1 button smashers or the tried & tested tab targeting.

Even Wildstar with its much hyped "leet" skills required is nothing more than a 1 button bore, the telegraph system highlighting when/where you should be eliminates any real skill required.

rofl rofl no.... Age of Conan melee combat is shit and its so bad that what few players still play AoC actually prefer to only play CASTER classes. It is not a combo system - it is whack a mole with the arrow keys... it is repeating an arrow pattern like a fucking moron over and over and over. How the fuk do you think that is "immersive".... dumb dumb dumb

I do agree that Wildstar telegraph combat is boring and annoying shit though.

    Very Immersive Melee:

    TERA(PVP Only)

    Swordsman Online/Age of Wushu(PVP Only)

    Not Immersive Melee:

    WoW

    ESO

    Darkfall

    Wildstar

I honestly thought minecraft melee in PVP was more immersive than the stuff on my bad list.

    Waiting for:

I third that motion!  Chilvary is by far the most immersive melee experience you can have on a PC!!

BAR NONE!!! Now only if it were in a mmo!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvW5h5KqxU4

    Completely BAD ASS!!!

Well it is based on all medieval warfare.  The game includes castle sieges as well.  Defenders/Attackers ect with siege equipment..  The customization and so many tactics to use is unbelievable.

It does have its pve stuff as well. But the good stuff is in multiplayer.  PVE/PVP mixed vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvW5h5KqxU4

Other then mount and blade the most immsersive would have to be star wars, it seems to be the best combat system in a mmorpg without being another korean or oddball mmorpg. However ive yet to play elder scrolls.

It is a shame that Tera wasn't nearly as good at doing this style of combat.

I also liked Cabal 1's combat system prior to where comboing was pushed aside to special attacks.

I agreed with you! I like that style very much.
