no, that is not solving the problem because there is no problem to solve.. for me. He asked for peoples' opinion, that is mine.

A lot of games solved this problem by letting players join multiple guilds.  Kinda hard to be lonely being a member of 5, 200 to 300 person guilds.

Based on some of the few responses it's pretty clear people make their own decision for themselves to SOLO or PARTICIPATE and in engaging in a social MMO environment.

Examples have been given in past Threads how we all have the same options to socialize with others in the virtual world.

One of the most common feature in any MMO is a Chat Window!

Do developers need to include a FaceTime, Skype, or ooVoo feature?

Basically, it's a phone app that helps you make friends in any game you're playing by matching you with people (kind of like Tinder but for making friends) based on similarity in interests, time zone, level of your character, etc.

I'm hoping it will solve the problem that many MMOs today have, where you enter the game and feel like there's people running around but nobody stops to talk and party together, and you just run through one quest to another.

Anyway, any input is appreciated! I want to do this project but I know it'll only be successful if a large number of people use the app, so I made a poll:

Please don't be discourage by the NOs! There is nothing wrong with providing folks with more options. I think it's a great idea. I personally wouldn't use it.

Making the app might be a good idea though (if nothing else then becuase if it became popular most games would add the feature).

I wont use it though, mostly becuase I hate smartphones.

Lonely MMO Experiences......having an outgoing personality can change that? If you have one and others dont then you keep trying I'm pretty sure. Can't blame companies because people dont want to play together if they dont have to. And even if content forces you to play with others (like dungeon finders etc) it doesn't mean people will talk. Its like people want companies to go out and match you with people and then force you talk to each other....Do it yourself, shesh. Too much hand-holding in the world

I don't think this is needed at all honestly. MMOs in my experience all have some version of solo-player-friendly content and if people want to play that way then let them. I'm sure your intent is to generally make it easier for people to find likeminded players to enjoy their gaming time with but I don't think this is the way to do it.

not , the mmorpg itself needs to fix that , not an app from a 3th party

No I don't actually...yer saying (I think)  A list of apps/mods already in use? That I would never use either....

Acting like the mods are better than the app mentioned makes no sense. The app at least are gaming wide and not limited to one MMO.

    Unconfuse me...please...

I'm sorry does every game have a MOD? OP wasn't talking about creating a MOD! He suggesting an APP!

I never said that MODS would be better than an APP!

I did how ever encourage him/her to create more OPTIONS!

See up there, I even highlighted green bold bigger text for you! Less confusing, unless you need a MOD that flashes big neon lights telling you so.

I'm suggesting an APP with a list of games for multiple platforms!

Is there a MOD or APP that caters to more than one game or multiple with various playstyles?

The bigger problem i feel is that devs feel the need to take as much Muiltiplayer stuff out of a MMO making it into single player games the best they can with added dunguen and raids. This is where the problem mostly lies imo.
  • aeinstudiosaeinstudios Member Posts: 4

It seems like currently, about 30% of people would use this app based on votes. However, almost every commenter voted no... not sure how to analyze this lol. Thank you everyone for your input though. I will keep all your concerns in mind as I further develop my ideas.

nah .. that is the selling point ... in fact, it is not uncommon that "soloable" is on ads of MMOs. It may be a "problem" for you ... but certainly not for me.

Great idea for gamers(Not just mmorpgs). But gamers in general.  Would be a nice app.  That said,  some of us belong to gaming groups.  Like the group I belong to http://nightsongentertainment.com/ .  For the gamers that do not belong to a group I see a big benefit with such a app.  For those of us that belong to a clan, group or corp.  We often use Teamspeak, Ventrilo or one of the other 3rd party real time voice chat programs.

I believe there is a market for the app you want to create.

    Good Luck with it!!

My concern would be my information being sold to strangers as others have mentioned.  Also i dont really consider this a problem in games. I understand this topic is frequent on these forums but I dont completely understand it.  Ive been playing for years and go back and forth between grouping and being social and playing solo for whatever reason. It is as simple as talking to strangers and joining a social guild when I want to group. Never understood people who claim they need to be "forced to group" .  I read this as "Im really anti-social and want the game to force me to get together with other people."  I never seem to have a problem grouping with people if I want.

I've heard of phones they came in shortly after plumbing.  I wont be any good for this pole.  Last time I had a phone that worked it was a rotary.
