They've moved the auth servers for their base domain, but haven't moved the auth servers or the forums from the Sony domain yet, at least not for EQ2.
I like the logo as much as any other company which is to say I don't really care.
Curious why they're moving out of San Diego. I also wonder what the next location would be. If I worked for them my vote would be Seattle. It's a beautiful city.
Maybe to a place with better rent?
That's my guess.
Their current building in San Diego is meant for a much larger workforce than what they have now and while Sony didn't seem to mind (maybe they own the building?), DBG doesn't have any reasons to remains there. They are probably just moving to a smaller building in San Diego, there PR only talk about moving to a new office space, not about moving to another city. I don't understand why everyone is thinking that.
Originally posted by Wraithone I find it interesting that EQN is not in the live stream list. We will have to see what happens.
Its not on the list because they getting ready for the next race. EQN live stream will be back next week Thur with the next race they will be working on, lore for that race and tones of concept art.
Originally posted by BillMurphy What's interesting to me is the note that they're moving their studios. Where? Who knows. But it's probably a big part of why some people left when the change happened, knowing it was coming.
It completely makes sense. San Diego is hella expensive. Hopefully, all this fat trimming will get something done.
I've been to the Daybreak website, not bad. Scary angry eye. Nice. And at least there's an EQN section, hopefully that's not a filler and actual news will be updated there soon.
And the Jedi rebellion has been foiled. The remaining good games will be hunted down and defeated! The attempt on my life has left me scarred... and deformed, but I assure you, my resolve has never been stronger! In order to ensure the security and continuing crappability of our games the $oe will be reorganized into first Galactic Daybreak!. For safe, and security of our gamers.
Only interested in ONE THING as a gamer and that is FINISHED games, not cash shops on unfinished games.
Their marketing and site is wrong because?Well simple, they have a knack for putting advertising RMT way more than their games. When you get an email it is advertising first NOT the game.
Live streams?Well is streaming something new all of a sudden, welcome to the new age DB games lol.I have watched many hours of H1Z1 streams but not really interested in any of their games at this point in time.
Many more IP's and games to come this year,WOW small team studio putting out many games, they must all be triple A finished quality, not a chance in hell.
Bottom line, wake me up the next time DB releases a FINISHED product.I mean we are not even debating type of genre or type of game or pve versus pvp,i am simply talking about a finished product, not too much to ask for right?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
John Smedley keeps on touting that "Daybreak Games" (DBG) is an independent game studio which isn't so... They are owned lock, stock, and barrel by the venture capital firm of "Columbus Nova". There's nothing independent about that, the only independence may be in the direction Mr. John Smedley may be able to take the company. His stock options are attractive, but if he doesn't succeed I'll just cringe to see what happens to DGB overall.
Columbus Nova has final say and Mr. Smedley is beholden to them to hopefully succeed in breaking new ground. I'm just glad at this point that the remnants of SOE is mostly intact although some big talent was shown the door. John Smedley, must have a little over a year to pull this off since this company is his baby. Many founders would have left years ago, but he's stuck his neck out by keeping: 989 Studios, Verant Interactive, SOE, and now Daybreak games succeeding.
Best of luck to the team at Daybreak Games in pleasing your new owners of Columbus Nova.
What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in a meeting where this gets revealed and the artist throws up his hands and yells, "BEHOLD THE EYE OF SATAN!".

Their independence as an Inday studio will last as long as CN likes what they are doing. We will see how long that lasts =-)
This company need to change their branding name and call it Da Break games in my opinion. I get the impression they have been taken over by a Russian consortium when you look and the new website and the way they treating people who post constructive criticism with contempt by deleting post which voice concerns about which direction they are going as a company. For me this company will last as long as their articulate leader Smed. He seems to think by making fancy statements that people will follow. Nope not everyone will fall for your Pied Piper of Hamelin tunes your spewing out all over social media and why would we care where you plan on wasting more money moving somewhere fancy.
If you want to win support you need to start acting like professional outfit and open up to what people want, by cutting customer support or should I say the lack of you will cause more issues. Does not take a brain surgeon to work out that things are not right within there. The total lack of transparency coming from there is unbelievable and they are controlling social media so that nothing negative is being heard, this will not change the way the public see what you are all about and will cause you further problems in the long run. Gamer's are not stupid, they might fall for the odd rip off every now and then but if you get their backs up they wont betide you.
I've supported what was SOE for many years and feel very disappointed with the current direction their management is going and for me the sooner Smed is removed the better IMO then we will not have to put up with his manipulation all over the web.
The logo is fine, but as for them moving, I wouldn't be surprised if it was to Austin. A bunch of companies have been moving to TX. Taxes and Regulations in the other major tech cities have gotten out of control.

This really deserves its own post, but his words are interesting.
He says the age of WoW mmos are over, but then right behind that he admits that casual gaming (the casual gaming philosophy popularized by WoW), is the way of the future.
Cool frickin' story, bro.
He says the age of the WoW mmo's are over and he's probably right. Casual mmo doesn't always equal WoW mmo.
So the age of mmo's that have people running up to quest hubs, running to the gold area on the map and running back (if that) are probably coming to an end.
But creating games for casual players that have bite size game play bits are going to be the way of the future. At least according to him. He may be right. At least for large companies.
