H1Z1 - Is It Populated?

FuryVFuryV Member UncommonPosts: 515

I'm looking for a new game, and just came across H1Z1 which looks really interesting.  I was just wondering how the population is though (in EU).  Also, I guess it's not really "on rails" so to speak, so I'll have to make my own decisions/choices in game right?

What do people actually do in the game & what is the goal(s)?  Is it all about surviving and gathering resources, weapons, food etc?

Does it have a subscription fee?

And finally, I noticed it's in early access.  When is the game due out fully?  I'm guessing at that point a lot will change, but if there's people playing right now and it's populated it'd be cool to check out.

you can easily run into too many people, and then not see any one for 30 mins.  You can be the old man of the mountain away from every thing and be some what safe, or you can attack the police station where you are going to run into some one 90% of the time.

On a PvP server most people are going to KoS everyone, which kinda sucks but it is the name of the game.  If you are looking to shoot people just go to town and there you go, if you are looking to avoid people then stay out of town and hit the little camp sites and such that litter the land.

What is the difference between H1Z1 and DayZ?  Just wondering which would be the better game to get.  Which am I more likely to run into other people?

I never played DayZ so I can't really answer that, but one of the big things that I know about is the size of the team making the game.  H1Z1 has a much bigger dev team to push things out at a much faster pace.  If a game like Rust had their resources it would be a complete game and a blast by now.

DayZ you are better off playing the original Mod and the plenty of advanced mods. Bigger player base, much more stable and polished.

Unless you like a berry gathering and crossbow simulator you might want to skip H1Z1. It is a bad Alpha, come back in a year if it is still around then.

The H1Z1 game itself imho sucks, but the battle royales are fun.

Especially with the poison gas creeping up on you, love it.

This is how devs make sales on cheap products,EVERY game looks interesting on paper.

SOE has invested NOTHING into THE GAME.As is only the Battle Royal mode is popular and is the target of SOE to make it's money. The population has dropped a lot,i saw peaks in Twitch around 40k at one time, now i never see more than 7k.They have put little effort into the game since it's launch, however it is funny that i see many think they have put effort into the game.It tells me many don't have a clue about game design, not that it matters if you are truly having fun.

Problem is those same people that said it was fun are no longer playing the game,it really seems obvious that gamer's just buy every new game and play it as long as it remains popular then leave the game after only 1-2 months.

The game  is 5 months since a pay to play release and they have added a identical model, still no female model. They have added no new vehicles,a copy bow model a copy gun model.

Here is the jest of playing BR mod.Enter a campsite or house, hope to find an Assault Rifle and ammo, hope to find a vehicle and ride around avoiding the green gas. That is IT,wait it out until the safe zone is so small you are forced to fight others that have survived.rinse repeat no real game here, just a mod that really offers little game play.

This was sold as a ZOMBIE game...guess how many Zombies you see in BR.....NONE!!

Dont' get this man. Just get State of Decay. It has no online but tstill better than H1. H1 focuses around crate drops a lot. Everybody I know that USE to play stopped pretty fast.

actually i play in and out of h1z1 and yes initally it was pick berry and make bow.

however, that has since changed and guns are much easier to find and you can pick up bullets reasonably easy and break them down and remake into ammo  for the right weapon you make.

also starvation and dehydration has slowed down signifcantly and you can find food and drink easily.

basically when i make a new toon i now just run to my "special" spots for weapons and ammo and food.it takes about 15-20 mins to run there and i never die from thirst or starvation and along the way pick up enough food and drink for reserves .

The Imperium, The largest group in EVE invaded H1Z1 last weekend. I am sure that helped the population.

    Something Awful this way comes.

Not sure where you are getting your info but h1 doesn't revolve around crate drops at all. I've clocked around 250 hours gameplay with several friends and none of us have ever felt the need to get an air drop, also I've never seen one in the game.

To the OP, I used to play DayZ but it gets old quickly because there's no permanence to your character. On H1Z1 you can get creative with base building and start to store items there so that when you die it's not fully starting from scratch. Do note that bases aren't 100% secure though and can be broken into by other players.

These days I'm more comfortable with the game so I build bases around Pleasant Valley (The main city) and like to PvP alot but when I first started I was too scared so me and friends built a huge base on  a mountain and did supply runs to campsites and small settlements.

IMO a very fun game and well worth the £15. I'm on 250 hours with no signs of stopping and I've only just started playing Battle Royale mode which is very addictive

agreed .yet more out dated info.daybreak games has made changes in line with player request and its a good game now.

i saw an air drop  once at launch.since then its a waste of money and time.you get better stuff in less then 1 hour then an air drop easily.

i even forgot they existed till it was mentioned now!

I think he was referring to the original launch. And at launch, to be honest, air drops were coming in for me every few minutes. I was stealing quite a lot until I realized that it was paid content
