Seems like WoW dropped to have only 6 million more subscriptions than the second mmo with most subscriptions in the market. The end is nigh.

My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

No end game for casual player, raiding to get BEST pve gear is for hardcore players.

pvp... i dont even go there lol.

    Only way make me to return WoW is;

Add unlimit character progress, just like D3 and ESO have.

New server game modes, some type Dayz clone styles etc and player made WoW servers (give build tools to players). build totally difrend world of wow.

Raid gear should be cosmetic only, casual and hardcore player gear stats difrend is huge.

World pvp need be like ESO has.

Add third faction in game, every race can join it.

ps. dont bother argue with me:)

The strange thing is that WoD is certainly one of the best xPac since TBC.

Lack of new content will kill a game fast.  Also, homogenizing of classes and any new "features" like archaeology take all the fun out of the game.  Instead of making it more immersive and deep it's gotten shallower and shallower.

My girlfriend and I started playing again. Fresh characters and no guild experience perk give us one hell of ride. Once we sit, we can't get up. :D It's so much fun and enjoyable. We can't find that in any game.

Thought I'd resub, the idea of the naval yard was intriguing. Now after a week I'm sat there again remembering why I stopped. More fool me.

Love to hate wow my self. But all of you people are jokes pulling numbers out of your asseS. Even is wow dropped to 5 million or even 3 million it would still be the most dominate mmorpg in history and still be considered a successful game. A drop to pre patch numbers just tells me there is a large dedicated group of people.

Still have the box with the gold sticker on it saying now over 1.1 mil subs

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

To me it just proves what i have been saying for years.Gamer's tend to struggle to let go of a game even if they know it is boring to them because they have already invested lots of time into the game.It also points to the idea that many keep coming back for each expansion then realize again a mistake but again had so much time invested they keep coming back.

I would say it also shows that many likely just come back rush through the ease of content and only those that think raiding is a good enough reason ,even if the only reason to continue playing.

    Personally i don't game like that,i see something i don't like,i quit,i see a shallow game design i quit before investing time.

Wow was a game i knew nothing about, heck i did not know much about Blizzard at the time but i do follow ALL gaming and never thought anything of Blizzard products.None the less i tried Wow as i try most games of note and immediately thought  it was a very weak game.I happen to try EQ2 first as it came out a week or so earlier so when i tried Wow it was very apparent the two games were identical. However not knowing anything about fanbois following nor even caring,i just play what game i think is best.I had no idea Wow would succeed, imo EQ2 was far superior even with bugs.

Point is that it sure caught me by surprise that WOw continued to grow in numbers,i was actually shocked,i thought crazy.I happen to be in EB games one day, soon after launch,a pile of kids  lined up buying WOW.The clerk asked the kids "Wow fans eh"they replied that they were buying the game because their friends and people at school bought it.I thought lol so the majority are just buying it to follow the gravy train and that is how the snowball effect happens.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I'm still subscribed, but I rarely play. Pretty sure that after I've had my fill of Tanaan Jungle I'll wait until the next expansion. My interest in WoW is cyclical.

    Exactly same feelings.

In the old days i was playing WoW daily and every 12-18 months i was taking a break for 1-2 months to play or try some other mmo's.

Now i m playing daily other mmo's (WildStar & ESO right now) and every 12-18 months (basically in every new xpac) i m returning in WoW for 1-2 months and that's it.

I dont care if its me or WoW but i cant stay more than 1-2 months max. I think 10 years are way too much. I would even be happy and play a game with the same features and style as WoW, but sadly not WoW itself anymore. 12k+ Raptr WoW hours played are too many...

All Time Favorites: EQ1, WoW, EvE, GW1
    Playing Now: WoW, ESO, GW2

WoD was fun for a while, as usual, i made a return just like in it's 4 previous expansions, and it lasted me a good 3 months, before i finally quit again,

Raid wasn't as hard like back in the days of BT, even with WoD, i killed Heroic Black Hand 2 weeks after BRF was out, so basically there's nothing else for me to do

i will be returning with Gold for subbing, for the new raid content, then most likely quit again after the last boss is down

    So What Now?

Same here.  I'm a few expansions behind so I have much content to see and do before I move on to something else.  I will get a good year of solid gameplay this tine around.  This is my third revist to WoW.

    Hah!

    I love it!

I wonder how many "SEE WOW IS DYING!??!" posts we'll see in this thread... I've got about a week and a half left on my sub, bought 30 days with in game gold, and I'm enjoying leveling up a Horde character through Draenor - but with Destiny: HoW coming in a few weeks and then ESO on XB1 in June... lots competing for my play time.

One of that 3 million exodus is me.  I'm guessing, like me, some of the people who left did so because PVP flat out sucks and the guy dev'ing PVP is a condescending, arrogant jackass.

What is all of this hoopla about crashing and burning?  My lord, this game has been out for more than ten years and still has multiple millions of subscribers.  Decline is inevitable as games age, people get tired and want something with a fresh new coat of paint, yet WoW continues to decline at a far slower over-all rate than any MMO in history.  I'd say that it continues to prove that the "formula" is more than viable by today's standards.  The problem is in the development houses that keep putting out sub-par, if not outright crappy games and expecting a free ride on the MMO train.  Blizzard continues to earn their keep, can't say nearly as much about other development houses who have exhibited all kinds of laziness, greed and stupidity.

Garrisons are pathetic compared to Wildstar/RiFT and others which was my main reason for checking out the expansion.

I too cancelled my subscription, utter disappointment.

  • PepeqPepeq Member UncommonPosts: 1,977
LOL, don't they always lose 3 million subs as soon as the expansion is no longer new?  I think they've consistently lost that many subs all the way back to WotLK.  Thing is, they aren't likely to lose much more between now and the next expansion... this is pretty much their operating numbers 6-7 million.  Now if they lost 5 million subs... that would be a little telling... but they lost the expected about of subs, nothing more.
  • TameronTameron Member UncommonPosts: 4

I cancelled my subscription a couple of months ago, because my wallet does not allow it right now and there are other MMO's for which I don't have to pay to play. I am not hating on WoW, I think it gets better and better each year, but I want something fresh and innovative.

Garrisons in WoW feel like one of those mobile games where you log in, do some stuff and log out. Rinse and repeat the next day. That got me tired really fast, because I am more of a casual gamer playing on the evenings after work. The problem is, that garrisons became such an important part of the gameplay that I started to realize I spent more time just managing my garrison, professions and trade skills rather that jumping straight into action.

WoW is still my favourite MMO, because I love the characters, I love the world and I love the lore. This is what keeps me getting back.

I find it amusing that they can lose more players than what any other game has active, and still have more active players than all other MMOs combined.

Rolled into town one day, saw a panda dancing on a mailbox, while heavy-clad warriors were hosting pokemon battles.

    Yeah right.

    Ok, bye.

No not really, from WoTLK to MoP they went from 10 to 6 - 7 mill. This time they lost that many in 3 months. It may have went up and down in that time period, but nothing major or we would have heard about it straight way like we did when WoD it 10 mill.

I think it kind of shows that WoW can easily hit that 10 mill mark, if they hit the nail on the head. They had the content and the ideas with the Xpac (some :P), but the execution was just so far off. One problem is the gating, it's seems to gotten 10x more worse this time round. I felt i was waiting around than playing a game. As a hardcore player your get it done in an hour then you find yourself jumping about for 10 min and as a casual it turns into chore you have to do each day.

The one bit of content , out side raids, which is amazing and was done right was the Brawlers guild. The content in there is so engaging, it offers challenge and you can play as long as you like. I felt if they expand on this and added elements of this to the world, the game would easily hit 10 mil again...well there is more they could do xD

These guys have the money, so it kind of confuses me. Why do they need to gate everything and make it so bare minimum? they should have the funds to make things interesting and keep up with the content consumption. FFXIV or even Wildstar has less players, but seems to be doing it fine.

    Meh, i don't know
