Other than  that, this game is pretty fun.  :)

Hmm... haven't crashed once. I'm charmed I guess.

PS... if you have an nVidia GPU, they released a new Witcher 352.86 driver yesterday.

hmmm, I wanted to see if this was true and opened the inventory as well as the crafting but didn't get any crashes.

The only thing I couldn't test is whether you crashed "after" you actually crafted anything.

    Specific crashes:

During a quest where I was following a dog to help a guy find his brother, I opened inventory and I CTD'd.  This happened twice in a row.

Then I CTD'd during a tutorial before you go and find the griffin.

Then I CTD'd, twice, after equipping new items at a blacksmith.

I already installed the Nvidia update. Before I installed it, I CTD'd during the intro gameplay.  It could just be my pc setup, but whatever the case, the CTDs for me are inventory/crafting based.

single player games are boring in most cases and mmo`s are just bad these days!

i played a little bit and skipped all the dialogue but I realise I will have to go slowly through everything and try and get involved into the game,i hope it happens.

its not just fighting like the souls games, its a story and you are the hero.

the witcher 2 started mush better than this game.

I could have dawn loaded it for free, but I bought it to be in the right.

I will try and get into single player games again cause there are so view good co-op games.

Graphics are very nice, story seems cool what little I have seen of it. However think game will be waste of money for me as I am finding the controls with mouse and keyboard really floaty and basically awful. I love great combat in my games and while this may be good on a controller I am now seeing why all the early access reviews and game play vids were only allowed to use a controller. I expected much better and definitely did not expect to be hoodwinked like this.

I crashed once after the first cutscene and you get to move at the first time however i lowered my graphic settings a bit and now i haven't crashed even once.

SKYRIM  WAS the best rpg ( heavily modded) I ever played

THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT is flat out better in almost every way...no if and or but's

This game is the magic I have been missing in game playing for sooooooo long.

I'm going slow.....exploring every area to make this last as long as possible

(I'm an mmog player who has found another way to game and have fun)

I agree with the above even though I loved Skyrim. Skyrim unmodded has nothing on this game out of the box. My only gripe with the Witcher games is the classless system and lack of races to chose from.

Could this be a contender for game of the year? Absofreakinlutely.

I've run into some glitchy things here or there but as I've mentioned elsewhere this really feels like a labor of love. The combat is much better than the last two. I actually like the combat in this one. but it's straight forward. dodge, move aside, block, attack lightly or heavily. That pretty much works for me. On top of that being the use of the magic and things like bombs.

oh come now we all know what some of the "greatest games of all time are"

    Tetris

    PacMan

    Half Life

    Doom

    Quake

    StarCraft

    Halo

    Mass Effect 2

    Diablo

    etc...

Monumental games that have earned their place and withstood the test of time

To put a newly released game in this list is just silly, there are many great games out there but to be worthy of "greateast game of all time" title is way premature at this point.

    You completely missed the point.

First off, there are people who don't like every game you listed. So how can any game be said to be greatest of all time?I personally could never get through Diablo (got very tedious) never got into Halo or Starcraft and actually never finished Half Life as I didn't really find it that engaging.

I have no problem saying those games are good because they have stood the test of time for many.

And secondly, and more important, if you actually read what I wrote you would see my comment on that statement you wrote was "hyperbole". Hyperbole.

Sorry I disagree on many levels, starting with the beginning. A true rpg (imho) allows you to create "your" own character, not play something predetermined by the developers. Right now there are thousands of Geralts being played and this to me is a flawed desgin. Don't get me wrong at all, the game is good, but it is nothing like Skyrim where it allows your imagination to go unchallenged. The ability to mod a game is endless, and currently Skyrim rules supreme in that area.

I don't really agree with that.

A true role play game should allow a person to make decisions based upon what is available and based off what the world gives them.

Taking the role of Geralt just gives a "spine" to the character and it's up to the player to add the flavor.

I mean, do you think every actor out there says "oh, I can't play hamlet becuase it's been done thousands of times"? No. They put their spin on it.

There is this idea (at least from what I'm seeing) that "role playrers" shoudl be able to do whatever the heck they want. And while I'm all for that there is something to be said about being given a situation, backstory, character and then saying "ok, now it's up to you ... GO!"

Not every improv play or performance is a free for all with no structure. I've attended many where the story was plotted out but it was up to the actors to get to the plot points in their way.

I see no difference in the Witcher series or any game where you are given a character but get to play him or her the way you want.

Same could be said about you when you had your months of crusade against people bashing ArcheAge, let us not forget that. I think Witcher 3 is amazing and if people think it's the greatest game ever, let them have their opinion... It's not harming you and it actually proving to be quite true :)

Well, let's put it this way, from what I can see in the Witcher you can actually make decisions that have different outcomes. There's really not a lot of that in any Elder Scrolls game.

Keep in mind I've played Morrowind and Oblivion for over 2 years each and I'm still playing skyrim. And modding it. I'm a huge fan.

What the elder scrolls games allow is for a sort of "canvas" which allows for one's imagination to run freely. because there aren't a lot of strictures put on your character you can sort of "roam around" and do what you want.

In the witcher you can "act" as you want. You can play him as a bastard or a saint. You can do that in the elder scrolls games.

You can do that in Baldur's gate.

The only difference is that you take up the mantle of a specific person. How you play him is up to you, given the limitations of the game design but that can be said of any game as there's only so much time and money to create these things.

Well I was comparing the two games. I agree that The Witcher is an rpg, but Skyrim has a better foundation for it (imo). I disagree with your last sentence though. /shrug

Well, like I said in my first post above where I was comparing the two, Skyrim is as you know moddable which allows way more freedom. The Civil War in Skyrim allows many decisions with many outcomes and there are countless mods that allow this as well. Skyrim is virtually a game without end and the replayability because of choices of races and classes is much better than what the Witcher has to offer.

Imagine if an mmorpg was released with one character for thousands of people to play. WoW with 7 million Geralts! Sorry, I know it is extreme, but my main point is I want to create my own Character as an extension of myself, not what Blizzard would have picked.

    Well, that's hyperbole.

But then again what is the greatest game of all time? That's going to be different for everyone and there's not one game I can name that doesn't have issues here and there.

The greatest song, the greatest piece of art, the greatest taste... All are pretty much in the eye of the beholder. Most of the games you listed I can't stand and never could, One question though... how is Mass Effect monumental in a world where the Witcher 3 is not? It's raising the bar in a few areas in terms of open world design, it's got great story telling, good combat mechanics, etc... Most open world games do not possess all of those qualities in one title.
