Meh.  I suppose this is news for the niche crowd.  It assumes Albion is shooting for that 400k niche base.  In which case that would leave Eve with a zero player base.  *golf claps*

meh, putting my money for the founder's pack of this game was the biggest mistake i have ever made for funding, was in 3 previous alpha and i really hated it, too bad i cant have my money back :S

    So What Now?

The game has been great the past few alphas, it does need work but it is coming along nicely. I'm not a fan of EVE's system, and the player base for EVE is in general pretty atrocious so hopefully they don't follow along, but it is always good to see a new Dev with previous experience.

Don't worry, this is the guy who gave us "space aids", so we won't miss him that much.

This comment like all the others about EvE is so unfounded its so untrue....

In fact the so called atrocious eve players have (as of last week) raised $70,000 US, today another $5-6000 has been donated in forms of auctions for the relief fund of Nepal Earthquake.

now that might not raise much in teh big scheme of things, but this is a game that pretty atroicious players..,

Howe about this one then, a players parent has died leaving the family broke unable to pay funeral costs in the US ,so people have been donating enough money to cover the funeral costs and a  bit extra for the family. this wasn't a one off hte other year a US military guy was killed in the bombing of the US embassy in libya (search vile Rate Eve),  the players got together and raised $127,000 for his wife and kids.

Why ?? Because eve has atrocious players..

The fact is it has become almost a truth that EVEYRONE who plays eve is a criminal, and yet by studies done on the playerbase in eve it has roughly 40% of the player work in engineering and a high percentage are (ex)miiltary

I woudl suggest before people bitch about EvE and its so called bad player base the read this paper

     http://www.tbuckner.com/Rumor.htm

Aptly titled "A THEORY OF RUMOR TRANSMISSION"

Do rumours become more or less accurate as they are passed on!"

Because for all i read (mostly on this forum) about how the player base in eve is evil blah blah blah, its nothing but a bitch about the ingame mechanics that has some how transposed onto real life and the real life actions of players not in game mechanics... Hey i got ganked in wow does that mean they are all real life gang members,

Further to back my fact if you see my post form the other day from a respected reported for the guardian newspaper you will see he points to how friendly people are at the fanfest etc,

So until i can see some proof that the player base in eve is evil then i will continue to fight the cause... quite appropriate for a CCP game (crowd control productions)

Yes we have a few bad eggs but in a game of 100,000 or so players then you are going to get them. but as of writing this i only know of 3 players who have taken their eve persona out of hte game and into real life...

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

This game will die on the vine mainly because the devs are clueless how to build a pvp ruleset.  If you are going to build a pvp game, you had better make sure it will attract more than a few hard core players.

EVE community represents the world community pretty much, everything you find in EVE, you can encounter IRL.
