Info from their Kickstarter page below.

"Good day to you.

After a nice half-day in the sun we're now back in the office working on the game. Welcome to the campaign to all of you who joined us yesterday - we're now getting really close to 400 backers. Thanks for that!

Today: Dev Stream (Combat Abilities)

As announced yesterday, Sebi and I will spend this evening developing stuff for you while streaming this to our Twitch channel. We're going to focus on creating new combat abilities for Sunday's sneak preview. Here is the list of abilities we have slated for implementation - let's see how many we can finish tonight. The stream starts at 6 PM UTC / 8 PM CEST / 2 PM EDT / 11 AM PDT. We'll probably run for at least four hours. See you in chat!"

lol .. another KS project begging for money right off that topic about the scam?

A target of 56k? What can it fund? A Lexus for the developer?

    Haha, you have a point.

nariusseldon, as a fan of this project, I happily direct you to the video on the Das Tal website and Kickstarter page. I took the liberty of transcribing a couple of quotes for you. The game already exists in a playable, yet unfinished, state. However, if you are biased against developers using Kickstarter as a means to obtain funding for games, then I will not attempt to sway you. There is always risk involved when funding a work in progress, and not everyone is willing to take the risk.

"We need our artists to sit down and focus on creating assets. So, for that reason, all of the funds from this Kickstarter will be going directly into our artists pockets." - David Wells @ 4:39

"And you're not only funding the game. With your Kickstarter contribution, you prove to our existing investors that Das Tal is both an awesome game and a viable business venture. They will match your funds and we will have a full budget needed to get the game released." Alexander Zacherl @ 4:49

Yes i am. I don't like people selling wishful thinking no matter what they say. You can quote as much as you want ... but none of those statements has any legal power, as opposed to a contract, or better yet, a product that I can play.

In fact, don't you think people will say anything to make a buck?

    nariusseldon,

I believe there are people who will say anything to obtain money, and I believe crowdfunding is an accessible means for those people to do so. However, I still choose to take the risk when I see a project of interest, knowing that I may not receive what I was promised. It may be naive of me, especially from the perspective of those who have risked and lost, but I don't think it's fair to label all of the projects as scams. I do respect your opinion and thoughts on the matter. If nothing else, I hope you do believe that statement :)

I think I got off topic from the intent of the original post. The main purpose was to give the information out to anyone who might be interested in viewing the Twitch stream about the game. I did also provide the link to the Kickstarter page as well, for additional information about the game. But I think maybe the conversation about Kickstarter, and it's use for developing games in particular, would be better suited to a new thread (or existing thread).
