Echo of Soul, an upcoming Korean MMO developed by Nvius and published by Aeria Games. The good news is that if you’re looking for a unique, engaging, and exciting MMO to dump dozens or even hundreds of hours into, there are lots of options out there to pick from. The bad news is that Echo of Souls is not one of them. As several of us pointed out in impressions pieces from the Closed Beta, it’s not really a good game, but it’s not really a bad game either. It’s just kind of... there.

Well you just said the difference.
"Name one game that isn't generic in some way?" This game is generic in all ways.
Well some positives I heard is that you can level pretty quickly through PvP. Also I mentioned before dungeons runs I heard are fun since its dps/tank/dps support so no healers
could improved too bad the game is from KR and they call the shots and game is old , was released like 5 yers ago on KR ?
You level pretty quickly through whatever means. As I understand it, it will take about 2-3 days of playtime to hit level cap. PvE is slightly faster, but PvP is still fast.
As for dungeon runs, here is a video of a 20 man raid boss that was downed the other day in CBT -
There is 0 mechanics to that fight. He literally just stands there, auto attacks, and occasionally does a small aoe move in melee. From videos I've watched of other boss fights, this is about the norm.
Echo of soul started beta last week, aside from cabal 2 there are zero other MMOs to discuss.
What else would you like them to write about, as this is an MMO news site, echo of the soul is an mmo, and this article is indeed news.
Did someone force you to click this link? Is that way you are so angry?

This game was made by aeria, what did you actually expect from a company that produces terrible p2w games? This game by no means represents the genre.

2 new servers added today from high demand and we are not even in open beta yet but it needs to improve.

Yep, Desertt has it: frankly, there are only 3 new MMOs releasing in the next few months. Cabal 2, EoS and Skyforge. We've done a lot of SF, and Cabal 2 and EoS are new betas. Cut us slack, we have to cover the games we're given.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Let see ,
4) No More Gender-Locking
5 character (2 guys 3 girls ) and 10 classes is pretty good custom if 1 character can play 10 classes then we can have 50 type of custom character
Sadly they don't do so.
Everyone is spot on. It is very generic. But thats not necessarily a terrible thing right now. All the new MMOs over the last couple years have all been generic with a "gimmic". Tera tried to do "true action combat" that turned many people off, GW2 went questless which drove people away. SWTOR thought people would like a richer storyline, but that just made the game single-player. Even Skyforge is trying something new, but the lobby based gameplay will ensure most people wont even try it. Everyone is trying to find that "niche" idea that brings people in but in the end all it does is turn the majority of people off.
EoS is truly generic. There is no gimmick, there is no niche filler, its just a tried and true system. Now, it wont be a mainstay in my library. There really isnt anything to add to longevity, but with all the new MMOs trying and failing with gimmicks, its a nice distraction to just play something old and familiar. Maybe in a couple months when Im maxed level and bored with 3 or 4 characters/classes there will be something new on the horizon. Maybe even word on an EQNext alpha/beta this fall, anything to pull me away. But right now, bland works. I can honestly say I am enjoying EoS alot more than Skyforge, and ever since I got the beta for EoS, I stopped logging into SF.
The graphics on this are a bit dated. It's somewhere in between the visuals of Archeage/ESO. Its dated like Archeage, kind of an eyesore like ESO. When Aion first came to the U.S. the graphics weren't fully up to date, but the game still looked good. This game is a bit hard to look at.
Its because these games don't make it to the U.S. until like 1-3 years after they have been released in Asia. But buy that time, there are better looking games out there.
Quite frankly I think BTRayaL is off their rocker and possibly a bit mentally unstable as that response was completely uncalled for and made absolutely no sense. I thought it was overall a pretty fair review. I think you could have included some more details about the game itself, but I had the same initial impression as you. As others have mentioned generic is not necessarily a fault when you want something tried, true, and familiar; however this game DEFINITELY needs a graphic overhaul; a high resolution package option at least. Also it never hurts to say we should improve something I have no idea why people get defensive. I'm sorry if something you liked in the past was "ruined" by a change or update, but if we had no change or innovation where would we be?
Furthermore, and to back up my previous point - I care about coverage on new MMOs, and if I didn't I wouldn't still be here 7 years later. Thank you for your review.

I pretty much agree on all points but we should not be overly critical of just this game because imo almost every game is identical to this.
I do not agree that other games are shaking anything up,it is still the same design i see every game,HAND HOLDING ,linear questing, simple combat, smallish models, meaningless structures/backdrop graphics, super cheesy player movement and reasons to give xp etc etc.
What this game does that i see almost if not every game do is litter movement areas with mobs so you have to fight.I realize these games are just meaningless kill /bot type games but still there should be some reason or thought into why mobs are there in the first place.ECO systems and reasoning are two areas i never see in a mmorpg and should be the FIRST ideas that go into designing one of these games.
The ideas i do see different or adding other ideas are always poor choices so although there are some slight differences in other games, nothing has caught my eye to say oh ya that game over there is much better ,i need to play it,instead i always come away feeling the same as i did about this game.
We won't see game design change for quite some time, every dev is trying to cut corners on development, for every + i see as many - it has not been a fun ride looking for a new game with longevity.
BTW i totally disagree on WOW aging well,it never looked good to me from day 1 but yes over time it has added some decent to good textures and on GW2,it does a lot of things wrong with RP'ing, like jump puzzles are not rp gaming, map completions are not rp gaming, well maybe if you joined to be a cartographer but even then the game doesn't have cartographer as a skill. There is a lot of content added in games that just do not belong there and if they do you should not be getting xp for them unless that experience is going towards an actual rp'ing skill.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
My thoughts on what I've personally seen from this game is that it was developed by people who have absolutely no imgination whatsoever. Generic is a decent word to describe it. Generic, lazy, uninspired. Truth be told there is no reason MMORPG.com should continue writing columns and dropping headline stories about this game. On to the next, please.
It's actually not as bad as I expected and not as generic. Better then ArcheAge and Tera XD
