I dont know how long in will take. Since im a student i get everything in two days with the Prime free trial for students.
With that said, i would not buy something that is not in stock. If Amazon is out of stock, i go to Newegg or somewhere else. I buy online because its convenient, but if i have to wait for them to restock then i just go somewhere else or go in person. Thats just me. I dont see the point in buying out of stock merchandise.
When literally everywhere is sold out (that isnt trying to price gouge), its called getting in line.

No, but AMD can say 'we always intended to launch Fury/Fiji at E3' cause look at the news cycle right now. All everyone's talking about is how 980TI is good or why AMD isn't denying the claim they changed their minds at the last minute and why AMD would do such a thing.
Either AMD has an incompetent marketing team (which could be true) or the claim has some truth to it.
This isn't to say 'Fury/Fiji' is good or bad. All I'm saying is that indication points to AMD having a 'not as up to par as 980TI'.
Actually, looking at their previous releases, AMD always launched the model first and let their partner's launch their version later (OC'ed or watercooled or whatever). This is the first time when it'll be done together which is why the story has legs.
Last I checked, Iphone5C came out a year after Iphone5. Now, I am not a big fan of Apple but even I accept their engineering department probably didn't take a year to put something like that together and the launch was probably dictated by their marketing team.
There have been many different and contradictory rumors about the Fiji launch date. When there are contradictory rumors, some of them obviously have to be false. That whichever rumor you liked ended up being wrong doesn't mean that AMD changed their mind.
AMD has sometimes launched a reference card first and other times partners' custom boards have been available at launch day. The main factor there is how long before the launch date board partners could start designing and building their own boards. That requires at minimum knowing some very intricate details of how the chip will behave. At some point, you really need engineering samples, too.
All right, I'll concede that some variants could have launched sooner and are held off for marketing reasons if the variants you're talking about are different color versions of the same thing as before. It's kind of like saying AMD could have launched a Radeon R9 270X sooner, since it's basically a rebranded Radeon HD 7870. But that's not at all the same as saying Apple could have launched the first part with an Apple A6 six months sooner and just sat on it for reasons of marketing.
Of course i have to wait for amazon to get it in stock, but they'll ship it as soon as it comes in...
Anyone wanna take bets on how many weeks before i get it?
I wouldn't have done that. I'd generally advise against buying things that are out of stock in hopes that you'll get it once it comes in stock. That can make you end up waiting weeks. Or months. Or quite a while and then the order gets canceled.
Even in your case, when you probably would have bought a GTX 980 Ti regardless of how good Fiji is, I'd have at least waited for a card to be in stock before buying it. There's also a significant chance that Fiji will be competitive enough to force price drops on the GTX 980 Ti to compete.
Well i wasn't in a rush, but i checked today and they actually had the EVGA one in stock, so i cancelled the order on the other and submitted it on that. So, guess should be here sometime next week.
That's much closer to what I would have recommended: buy the one that shows up in stock. Anyway, enjoy your new card.
Congrats on the purchase! I was tempted to order now, but I'm going to wait on the Gigabyte G1. I think AMD is going to be hurting with the early reports saying it's not even as fast as the 980 Ti... they will surely optimize and get better, but I think AMD done f-ed themselves this time around.
Or just a 35 years old working adult with a decent income working his ass off every day to get his money and not someone living in his parent's basement playing video games all day long...
Lol.
Why is it always the basement, though? Are you an even lesser human being if you live subterranean in your parents home than if you lived on the ground level, or better yet, the alluring second floor?
It's like the "rose coloured glasses" cliche; it's so old and played out. Time for some new material.

It's just the "cliché"
It just amuses me when people say "omg you're rich" as soon as someone is able to afford something nice, it's not like the guy just bought a multi-million dollars car, it's just a graphic card.
As a teenager, I worked my ass off to be able to buy my first computers. I wasn't rich, I just worked for it. Seems to be a lost concept nowadays, in this "hand it all to me for free" world...
All kidding aside I agree with you 100%. Lost concept indeed.

That was a little harsh. It's not like that was an insult and a 980ti is a rich card. There are a lot of hard working people that can't afford to splurge on high end card like that.
It's a question of priorities. If a $650 video card is the thing you want to buy most in life beyond cheap versions of the basic things necessary for survival, most American adults could afford to buy one just fine. And you could say the same of thousands of other things that cost several hundred dollars. Usually, "I can't afford that" really means something to the effect of, "there are 50 other things that are a higher priority for me and I don't have enough money to buy all of them".
I'm not saying that a $650 video card should or shouldn't be a high priority. And, of course, I'm excluding the genuinely poor people who mostly live in poorer parts of the world. I'm only saying that whether you can afford a particular item depends more on your priorities than your income.
Originally posted by blueturtle13 How good is the 970? I do not have $500+ to spend on a card but $300+ maybe.
I purchased the msi 970 4k gaming card, and I have to say I am extremely pleased with it. I can play witcher 2 on ultra with minor , occasional fps slowdown that doesn't bother me much, along with an i5 4690k and 16gb ddr3 on a hero VI board. It is well worth the purchase. Did a lot of research on that card and decided to go with it, because the cost vs performance was just right compared to the 960 and 980.
I was considering getting a second one to pair with the one I have...But I might wait a few months and save up for the new 980ti card. I'll wait and see, though.
The video card is great. A little louder than i expected, but def not loud. First thing i did was run a stress test for about 10 minutes just to make sure i got no artifacting, that went fine. Then i loaded up TW3 and it promptly crashed to desktop in ~30 seconds. That 30 seconds was AMAZING, perfectly smooth, finally got to really see the benefits of the gsync monitor. So, loaded it up again after crash, and it crashed again to desktop after about 2 min.
So, did some research, discovered it was likely Precision X causing the problem, turned it off, played for about 5 minutes, no crash, then went on to some other stuff (i havent been in the mood for witcher too much).
Havent had any crashed or problems of any kind in any other game. Overall i'm happy with it.
Oh, and apparently i have an AX750 PSU lol, i thought it was a 650 for some reason (shows you how often i get inside my case).

I just bought one yesterday from Newegg. I had to pay an extra $20, but they actually had it in stock, so I'll get it tomorrow. ^^ In my opinion, it's worth it to pay a tiny bit extra (if it's WAY more, then no) to get it now rather than months. You still get charged for the purchase, right? I'm not sure if Amazon charges you up front or only once they have it ready to ship.
Either way, I was able to buy it through Newegg and used a free service to get free 2 day shipping. :P The 2 day shipping would've cost me $20, and not having to pay for any shipping also saved me money.
I bought the EVGA 980 Ti Superclocked + Acx 2.0 fan with Backplate. It's an early bday present I bought for myself, haha.
Now I'll just sell my 970 Superclocked, and recoup some of the cost of this new bad boy.
Hindsight is 20/20 but looking at the benchmarks coming out, it does look like AMD got sidewiped by NVIDIA at this event. It also pretty much confirms AMD pulled the Fury announcement at the last minute.
Anyone that said the above before the rumormill went into over drive is someone who I'm following in the next announcement.

Gratz it's a great card. I used AMD cards twice and I swore I will never do it again, son still loves them thou. Maybe i dropped him once to many when he was young.
LOL living in basement comment , it use to be family was important and living together was never a big deal. Now our society is going down hill fast and think living with family is bad.

Thanks man, ive been real happy with it.
As far as the basement dweller comment, i don't think its the fact that they live with family that is bad, its that generally people who live in their parent's basement as adults that aren't college students usually are societal failures, have dead end jobs, etc.
That being said, there's always extenuating circumstances, its not ALWAYS the case that someone is just a lazy slacker or too dumb, etc etc. But, thats the general impetus behind the insult (at least in my understanding).

Sad thing is, most of the current games cant even use the card to its fullest.
You guys buy your 980ti.. I want twin turbos.. everyone has their thing.
Lets see your Battle Stations /r/battlestations
Battle Station
Well i *had* twin turbos when i had my S4, but, i wanted bigger ones... you wanna talk about $$$.
Try buying a Stage 3 kit for a B5 S4 and have it installed. You could basically buy a relatively new used honda for the same amt haha.
