I just bit the bullet. Bought the EVGA GTX 980ti 06G-P4-4992-KR
My question is do you think it will be held back by my current rig?
It will be replacing my EVGA GTX570
My current system is all older but was great in it's prime.
2500K intel CPU
MSI ATX motherboard that is overclocking to 3292MHz with the turbo button
8 GIgs of 1600 Ripjaws for ram
1 TB Hard Drive Western Digital Black.
Obviously there are SSDs that outperform my hard drive and I was possibly looking into that...maybe the Samsung EVO line for OS and main games.
Oh...I am a gamer. that is my primary PC use. I don't do spread sheets CAD or anything else. My Case is Cosmos 1000 and I am looking to possibly get into mini ITX with a newer RAVEN case or possibly another case that allows for 600W or higher PSU. CUrrently have a Thermaltake 600W ATX PSU which works till I switch cases. GPU seems to be biggest expense for me though and mine is starting to show it's age.
I opted for the 1 day shipping so should be installing my new GPU on 6-9-2015....oh the I will have.

This is hilarious, you have almost exactly the same rig as i do, i just have a 2700k, but i also bought the exact same card and its arriving tommorow as well!
To answer your question, no... and yes. Could you get better framerates with a new CPU, etc? Yes. Is it enough to warrant the upgrade? No. Is your system going to hold back the card, no. Not by any significant amt.

I am blown away. Feels like A completely new PC. I was having troubles keeping up with friends and croaking to all sorts of environment due to low frames and scaled back settings. Now all settings cranked to max and very fluid gameplay. This card should last another 3 to 4 years. Exiciting times. Also the green LED reminds me of something from sci if movie. Very happy with my purchase. Hope you enjoy yours as well
