^^^^^^ Agreed 70 people is not an mmo, if you are going to play a non mmo like Ark I recommend The Forest or Savage lands, both optimized well and very intense

I play mmorpgs for 15 - 16 years. Before mmos ive played SC1. Before those. My 1st love...my heart was taken by Dark Age of Camelot. After this ive played most of the mmos but only few worth mentioning. Few days ago ive found: ARK SURVIVAL EVOLVED...and my mind = blown. I have never played a survival game so far...but waking up in the morning and seeing my base that ive made along with my friends in the last day pillaged to death by dinos and some pvp players its a feeling i have encountered for ages....I HOPE IT WILL LAST

It has sandbox features...its open world...its a crafting game...with open world pvp (on pvp servers) with no pvp if you want (on pve servers). IT HAS DINOSAURS AND FLYING MOUNTS...
You can gather almost anything that is in the world...you can craft any house you have in mind...you can do almost whatever you want in this.
This game is in Early Access and had the most success in EA history. Over 500.000 copies in 2 weeks. /waitwut ???
Its top 5 games on Twitch for 2 weeks...top 5 on Steam.
The Devs are in permanent contact with players via Reddit www.reddit.com/r/playark and on Steam.
You can take dinosaurs...raid enemies house...loot their villages if you want...loot their corpses...etc.
Take game is medium to hardcore gameplay wise. You make a mistake you die. There are passive Dinos and agressive ones. SOme have poisions some outrun you. If you wander...you die...and lose your items (but oyu can take them back if you want...if you are searching for your bag....and if you dont know where you are....you lose them....because THERE IS NO MINI MAP>....Most of us are roaming and searching and taking notes via Landmarks. At end game you get GPS but Landmarks RULEZZZZZ!!!!.
Did i mention THERE IS A FREAKING T-REX DINO ??? And most of the dinos you know??? Megalodon? Its there tooooo!!!

Whether or not a game is great is based on the subjective opinion of the person who is playing said game. For you to come out and claim that just because you like the game means everyone else will like the game is a prime example of naïveté.

Looks like a great survival game, but I'm so burned out on them. As far as survival games, it looks and feels like every other one. It certainly looks more comprehensive though, but that wasn't enough to grab me. Throwing dinosaurs in also didn't seem to change that feeling, as cool as dino's are. Had this game come out a year or two ago, I feel like it would be a different story.
Like many others I'm also burned out after playing a few of these "survival" games on steam. The genre became over saturated and unfortunately I have no interest funding another one of these games. game of the year? Yeah, your clickbait of a title brought me here. 2015 is looking to be one of the worst years in gaming if this game claims that title.

I noticed the only two hardcore pvp servers had a total of eleven people logged-in between them, while the regular pvp and pve servers were full or nearly full. I thought all the people who wanted the good old hardcore days back, would be there.

Not necessarily a given. Just because it has a hardcore pvp mode, doesn't mean that the particular game appeals for that crowd. Also, I'm a pvp guy and enjoy pvp with consequences, but I don't like some of the extreme types.

They need to do alot to improve performance and bugs.

Looks like a great survival game, but I'm so burned out on them. As far as survival games, it looks and feels like every other one. It certainly looks more comprehensive though, but that wasn't enough to grab me. Throwing dinosaurs in also didn't seem to change that feeling, as cool as dino's are. ARK is getting some good buzz from a few different sources. Gonna have to give this one some serious thought.

I got game also but he is as you said some kid high on.
The Witcher 3 is alot more then ark and you can't compare both games.
Ark is realy fun having great time, but best game NO.
The Witcher 3 best game maybe for me it was awesome 165 hours played.
Ark 15 hours so can't judge yet but seems very nice game.

You say that but how often do you see 1000s of players at one time, they may be there but you never see them. like OP said, tis hes first survival mmo.
Personally not fan of dinos, never like jurasic park.
Watching few ARK gameplay videos, just wierd u need punch trees get wood... use axes/spears to kill dinos? u cant do that in reality.
Game just seems really silly to me.
