We live in a day and age where digital media in the format of video games has become a normal activity. However it wasn't that long ago that a gamer was considered a basement dweller. Now that games have gone more mainstream, we still have those games with a stigma attached to them. Often heard on these forums is how World of Warcraft is in EasyMode, or Archeage is pay to win. Some people White Knight their games, and some denounce yet continue to play. What I would like to see is what games we still play that are a guilty pleasure. And by this I mean is.. are there any games that you play that still hold an element of fun for you that many other people just cannot seem to find.
TLDR: What game do YOU play that would be considered by most to be a "bad" game? Do you hide that you play it? And what is it about the game that draws you to it? What is a favorite feature for you.
I will start. I play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic even though I hate cash shops. I play this game because it is not a fantasy mmo.. and because I truly love storytelling in a Star Wars universe. My favorite feature would be the adaptable equipment. Being able to modify and upgrade gear as you level like that is pretty cool.
So lets here your answers! Please I ask that no judgement happens here.... who cares if someone else enjoys Hello Kitty Online. Maybe someone will answer something related to it and we might all go check it out.

Ha ha, well...
Firefall: The combat and art really appeal to me and I love the builds you can make with the battle frames and the story is awesome. I really love the crafting and the world events keep me logging in. I have supported and played this game since 2010.
Starmade: I can build my own ships, design my own weapons, ships, stations, torpedoes, mines...fight space pirates and explore the galaxy. Being able to make anything things that you flew around the bed when you were 5 appeals greatly to me. Unrivalled creativity match with ruthless combat. oh yeah.
Champions Online: Played since beta. The most creative power system I have ever played with matched by the best costume system I have ever played with. Nuff said.
I don't let the opinion of the crowds get in the way of my fun.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy.

Yes! My son really likes that game, so we play it together often. The world events and even the thumper gathering makes for some fun times, especially when playing with guildies/family.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Uh...I play this with my son! We play together, part of dad's fps training program that began with UT when he was 7. I promised him I'd level up my nighthawk while he's at camp even though I really hate snipers.

Makes me wish I had a son...I thought that game was real fun when I tested it.
Hate to be that guy, but Star Wars IS fantasy. It's just set in a futuristic setting. That said, I too had fun w/ SWTOR for a time. It's mostly the character restrictions that prevent me from playing it atm.
I don't know if this counts, but I play GW2. Lots of people love to hate on that game, but there are also a good number of people who enjoy it, so I'm not sure exactly where that puts the game for topics such as this. That said, what draws me to that game are the amount of things it does differently, the skill-oriented gameplay, and the limit on gear grind. It still amazes me how many people overlook / discount the amount of content / things the game has to offer. That said, I also admit that there are aspects of the game that are pretty bad, some even facepalm worthy (zaitan fight ie).
Personally I think the amount of stigma placed on games over the 'my game beats your game' mentallity is pretty dumb. There's nothing wrong with liking a flawed (or even a bad) game. The bigger problem is the amount of people who don't seem to understand when they're playing one of those. There are numerous games from other genres I love, but I also acknowledge their flaws, and understand why other games probably shouldn't repeat them.
Careful there....you know where you are treading :P
Lol, indeed I do. Don't worry, I have no intention of starting a debate on the subject. The facts are there, people can look it up for themselves ;p
How can it be futuristic if it happened a long, long time ago in a galaxy far far away?
Oh no you di'int!
:P
The Repopulation.
Its buggy and clunky and buggy and even clunkier. But I can play an entertainer and by the power vested in me from The Rock, I shall bring it! By hopping from rest area to rest area while levelling up my toons dancing and story telling skills.
This is where I should put a giant acsii of the peoples eyebrow but its way too big.
