Diablo 3: Remember the Horadric Cube from D2? Get Ready!

Longtime Diablo players will well-remember the Horadric Cube from Diablo 2, a rather cool way to craft items. In the next Diablo 3 patch, a new version, Kanai's Cube, will make its way into the game that will show some significant improvements over its predecessor.

In Patch 2.3.0, players will be able to discover this powerful ancient relic and utilize its incredible potential, including the ability to break down Legendary items and equip their special effects as passive skills, convert crafting materials from one type to another, and so much more.

But the cube's addition isn't all that will see big changes to the way that Diablo 3 is played. Check out some of the other features incoming:

  • New Zone: Ruins of Sescheron that will bring new enemies to the bestiary and new Barbarian lore.

  • Crafting Updated to streamline the process and allow players to collect max-level materials along the journey to 70.

  • Adventure mode will have three additional levels: Torment VIII, IX and X and act-specific crafting materials

  • Rift of Trials removed

  • Season Journey: A visual way to check characters' progress through Seasonal play.

  • Combat changes: Reducing elite monster crowd control, adjusted experience and Rift progress that makes killing elites worthwhile.

The update is scheduled to be added to the PTR in the very near future.

Yea know, I bought D3 when it first came out. Haven't played it since. I guess the auction house is gone now? Is RoS required to play? Perhaps I should fire that up. I need a game that I can play without sound as I have a movie in or something.

Eh well, I threw away my watch with Roman numerals on it in MCMXCIX and the sand dial in MCMLXXXIX. So I'm a little rusty. Sheesh. ;)

Wow surprised they actually did something I suggested. (Legendary skill equipping)

No matter how much stuff they will try to copy from D2 they won't capture the magic - they've got the fundamentals wrong, namely stat and skill systems, and itemization. And I'm not even going into art design or cringeworthy story/dialogues.
