[Preview] Warhammer 40.000: Eternal Crusade: Early Access Coming This Summer!

Let's do a quick rundown of what we learned at E3 when it comes to Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade... Early Access is coming, and sooner rather than later, the game engine has been determined and revealed, and while no dates have been established yet, Eternal Crusade will be coming to Xbone and PS4. There are also new screenies and a new trailer coming, but those things are less exciting than the big three, which we will now look at a little closer.

    It looks like a Space marine mod.   If it's going to be another console PC port I'll pass.  That over the shoulder view is crap.  Games Workshop corporate needs to be put up against a wall and shot.  For the Emperor.

    Over the shoulder is great for me I cannot play FPS headache nausea so this is awesome.

    I agree to all of that.  Sadly they were always trying to make it console accessible.  Getting access to all weapons all the time as quickly as possible is big "pick up and play" console favorite.

     But this game has always been about expanding Space Marine to a Planetside 2 environment.  Space Marine was a console port to the max and Planetside 2 has received criticism for having to ignore PC in order to push a console agenda..  what bad could possibly come from this for PC players... :(

    Honestly, this doesn't look good. It's certainly one of the worst looking UE4 games to date, and it doesn't even seem smooth from that video.

    It looks sad.. but most of all it sounds sad.. Please hire some real men voice actors  to yell "For Glory, for the Emperor. I cringed every time  when the guy used the word brothers. Because all I could imagine was some  geek with some birth control glasses wearing skinny jeans sipping on his green tea.. Zero goose bumps here.. Zero Testosterone ... Stay away from the Soy.. Lift some Kettle Bells, get off the Yoga.. Please I love this IP don't screw it up.

    Don't worry about the voice acting, because you know what WILL be said by REAL players is nothing like what you heard on the video. It'll be more like...

    The game is awesome! Also if you want to buy a founder pack you get to vote for the 5th space marine chapter to be in the game. Also if you use my code EC-8IFFAW1YAZAWJ we both get 4k points to buy skins!

    What i want the most out of this game is community and replayability.  If this game gets bashed and is dead within a month they'll just further stain the warhammer name.

    Darn. Ive been looking forward to living in the W40K world for a very long time... but this... its Battlefield with a 40K spacemarine skin. I dont want that. I want to feel I am in a universe where war is everywhere, with thousands of planets populated by the enemies of humanity, where I can explore and feel danger at every turn, not a death match where a kid is shouting "run run run, ok, grab the flag, good game team".

    Oh well.

    So who else is excited for Planetside 2 with Warhammer 40k skins? I know I definitely am! I mean what else would I want in a Warhammer 40k MMO? Socialization? Of course not! I want to drop down to a 32 player map and play assault! A sense of accomplishment by leveling up, getting abilities and gear? Hell no! I want to "level up" and unlock gear that I can use on the next 32 player map! Storyline? Pffft...if I wanted that I'd just go read Warhammer 40k novels.

    same here, I always prefer Full on Third Person or Over the Shoulder rather than First Person. I dont have any immersion at all by playing a floating weapon, but thats just me.

     

    As for this game, i'll keep an eye for release. I have zero hype for it and what gameplay videos they have shown haven't tickled my fancy, just the third person perspective. But if its good at launch ill totally play it.

    Thirded, 3rd person for me, thanks. I'm not sure if I want JUST pvp, it would be nice to have pve elements too. Not particularly excited for the idea of a warhammer 40k planetside. i would like to kick back and enjoy a storyline, nomsain?

    on the livestream is a lot darker too much darker.

    I'm not sure the technology exists for an MMO that would TRULY do the WH40k galaxy justice.  The previous post that I've quoted below is a good example of what a true 40k fan would want from a 40k MMO, and that's probably just not gonna happen.

     

    That said, an MMO restricted to a hive city might work. A hive city alone, fluff-wise, would be bigger than most MMO worlds today.

    Funniest thing I had read all day!  I was enjoying some dinner, and only by sheer luck was I in-between mouthfuls of food when I saw it...
