I am sorry. but when i read " The Top 7 MMOs of 2015.... so far." And you look at SWTOR:TFE

thats when i lose it. The game is not even out yet... how can it be TOP so far?

And i am sorry, you spend more time on telling how great the intro looks... then the game it self?

You can as well put EQ:next on this list... i know.. its not out yet... but ohh boy it sure looks nice!

and what about WoW... it have 7 mil subs right now. and its not a top 7? But wildstar is?

  • Jens008Jens008 Member CommonPosts: 16

I play wildstar every day. Raid 3 times a week. Never played a game as much fun as this, and I played pretty much all MMOs. People who say "no-one plays it" have not logged in for some time. The population is on the rise dramatically and that is even BEFORE its F2P. Our guild has a constant influx of new players who need help with attunement and gearing and we soon setting up a second raid team. We are also the smallest and least accomplished guild on our server.

When someone says something about a game that isnt true, i automatically assume you are just another bored hater, or ignorant.

Because WoW is dogshit. You can't judge a game based on how many players it has, that just shows its popularity. First to market games or games as popular as WoW will always have more players, just because they are more well know, not because they are better. If you compared Wildstar and WoW equally (Imagine they were released at the same time, and judge them on merits alone), Then Wildstar is a masterclass above WoW. Just because 7 million morons wanna play a kids game, doesnt make the game better. It just makes it more popular. And just like music, the most popular stuff is the worst, because it appeals to stupid people who are 90% of the population.

Too bad Adblock Plus doesn't pick up on the BS and delete the ones that are advertisements.  It'd be funny to see this list reduced to two or three games.

What a load of bullshit you speak. Ask any Dev team if they could sell dogshit to 7millon people or deal with numpties like you I guarantee they would take the dog shit route all day long. Now you may think the game is dog shit but 7 million people disagree with you. I would place a bet that there are many in that group who would make you look thick.

And Justin Beiber sells hundreds of millions of records. Not because he is better than everyone else; because there are WAAAAY better singers, but because he is the most popular and recieves the most publicity. Some of his fans are smart, most of them will just be the ignorant masses of teenage girls with no clue.

All I'm saying is, judging something by how popular it is, is not a reflection of how good it is, because most people are stupid. To quote George Carlin "Look at how stupid the average person is, and then realise that half of them are even stupider than that".

The simple fact is, WoW was a legend, first to market, and massive publicity and popularity. Hell I played it for 5 years straight, I was one of the sheep!  - But if it was released tomorrow, it would flop. Because on merits alone, is is an infeirior quality game.

    No hating, just educated opinions.

    just....wow... dude.

Justin Beiber.. is made for small girls to like! Why? coz there is ALOT of small girls, and they have money. IF you were a small girl, you would like him as well. JB is good for teenage girls. They are not "morons" or "dont know better" But they just LIKE him. If U dont like him, does not mean he makes crapy musik. I dont like him... but i am not fighting it, coz I know why he is so popular.

WoW is made for a fanbase, and there is 7 mil of them. and they think wow is GREAT game! Once again, just coz u dont like it, does not make you a better person, or a smarter one....

Wildstar is made for another fanbase... dont know how many they are.. around 500.000? maby? and they think its a GREAT game! I played it... and did not like it. but I am not gona sit here, and tell that 500.000 Wildstart fans are morons.

I dont think wildstar is GREAT game... or NEW game.. or made somthing new to MMO. All i know, it looks like wow... and it is made by some one who also made wow back then. For me its just a wow clone, with new way to fight. we can call it, a GW2 and WOW mash up game. nothing new og great about it.

And what education do you have to call it a " Educated opinions"?

Ugh, no wonder I'm depressed when it comes to MMOs.  This is a dark time it appears, a dark time.  I'm not playing ANY of those games on the list, although I will take a stab at SWTOR later in the year for the expansion but I'm not expecting much as to me, story isn't SWTOR's problem, it's the lack of open worlds and other deep aspects.

I am currently playing GW2, Rift, EQ2, tiny bit of Skyforge while waiting on some nice additions coming from the kickstarter world, but boy oh boy nothing else looks good and nothing "new" seems to be coming down the road from the typical triple AAA companies.  /sigh

  • orbitxoorbitxo Member RarePosts: 1,956

nice to see 3 games i currently play:

WIldstar -for raid content, and graphic style. this would had been my main mmo IF they actually had better pve content updates, and stop with their quality of life changes- but iam sure they ahve a very small dev group by now.

SWTOR- for character story- and space combat missions. they have a solid lore going on here and as a post eveonline player i enjoy the combat space missions- although ive heard they have no plans to add anymore atm- lets see how long this mmo will hold my attention.

ESO- for solid pvp.when the urge to play a fantasy mmo, this is it.  although when total war's:-warhammer  is released, this may change.

What would you pick that's better? These are the seven best MMOs of 2015 and there's little room for debate.

    My list would be:

WoW, 7 million players like it, so that's a default. New expansion released.

    FFXIV, great turnaround.

ESO, Expanded console release and B2p

Skyforge, a lot of players are liking the beta, population will probably increase a lot after launch.

GW2, hype on first expansion and first new class, current classes getting new skills and weapons.

SWTOR, hype on focus towards personal story arc and more solo friendly content.

Marvel Heros, made a good come back after rough start, constant new hero releases.

that list just goes to show how badly mmo's suck these days. that said, ESO is by far #1 out of the newer mmo's IMO
  • BluddwolfBluddwolf Member UncommonPosts: 355
Isn't SWTOR an expansion, and not a true 2015 MMO release?  If this were a Top 10, would Pathfinder Online have made the list?

Played: E&B, SWG, Eve, WoW, COH, WAR, POTBS, AOC, LOTRO, AUTO.A, AO, FE, TR, WWII, MWO, TSW, SWTOR, GW2, NWO, WoP, RUST, LIF, SOA, MORTAL, DFUW, AA, TF, PFO, ALBO, and many many others....

  • RoinRoin Member RarePosts: 3,444

    For me it would be:

    Black Desert Online

    Moonlight Blade Online

    Skyforge

Wildstar (Yes I know people hated it, but I thought it was great)

Final Fantasy XIV ARR (Expansion just made it more epic)

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

Well,  I would have to disagree, a bit.  People that don't understand the concept of an MMO is just a tiny fraction of the problem with MMOs.  In my opinion, consoles killed the MMO genre.  Needy MMO Hobos, have wreaked havoc on MMOs. People who don't want to read, and want to be handed quest and gear have ruined the MMO genre, When good games have to go Free to Play because its too hard or the combat is different, same, clone, cant use my console controller, can use my console controller, outdated or whatever, is a shame for both the MMO community and the developers that are trying to make a buck.

Long gone are the days of corpse runs, looting players stuff, great crafting and other "difficulties" from epic games like Everquest and Galaxies and Dark Age of Camelot. Because the community has changed over the years, most expecting an MMO to be the same as a console RPG.  The MMO community should have known back when Smedley and one of his Devs asked the Galaxies folks, " You mean its fun to sit in a camp and listen to the sounds around you?"  Cant remember the exact quote, but its close.  Recently I've given The Repopulation a try, I'm hoping it gets out of beta in my lifetime. Until then I'm still playing around in old Norath and Kingsmouth ( I like hard puzzles )....  This is just my opinion, and everyone knows about opinions, like As@#$^% we all have them.....

A top 7 list because no one could think of anything that could be shoe horned in to make it a top ten.

Only three new games out of the seven listed and not one of them an MMORPG.

Oh boo hoo, people may enjoy a different kind of MMO than you. Are there MMO aspects to TOR - yes. You can do group content, you can raid, you can interact with people in the world. They've just embraced the idea of not forcing people to group to play the game. If the game was so terrible there wouldn't be so many people playing it. Suck it up and go play your style of MMO, choice is a good thing.

I think you are right, it has not been the best year, I am not sure i would have put in early access games or games that have been re-released but i guess if you did not put those in, what would you have put in?

Blur Studios made the CGIs for SWTOR (And TESCO and a number of other games)

This is their animation reel, they are way too talented for their own good and I love their work

    This^

Along with 2014, 2013, 2012 ....... 2005  errm! I'm seeing a pattern here.  When was the last great virtual world sandbox released?  Since WoW we have had nothing but linear themeparks.  All the sandbox attempts have been under funded indy games that couldn't cut it.
