I believe w are,the whole life thing is far too calculated yet incredibly complex to be sheer chance.
Just the planet Earth is crazy when you look at how it all synergizes with itself from the Tropical Rainforest Oxygen to plankton creating oxygen,to heavy water flow at bottom of oceans, artic magnetic field curbing radiation ,the list goes on and on,no way can that all be coincidence.
The sad part about games is that no matter how hard anyone tries you can never recreate a realistic simulation with computer code. The best anyone can do is put tons of rng options into every aspect of game design, but then rng is a a sort of weak way to simulate realism.

Well, Kiyoris, when I was a kid my brother and I had a discussion one Saturday afternoon about "perception".
We pretty much came to the conclusion that when I see the color "green" and point to an example, say a leaf, that he may or may not be seeing the same color that I'm seeing but whatever he is seeing is what he normally associates with "green".
So the world around us is in many ways a personal experience and in the end, that is probably the only thing that matters.
A woman at work was saying that our response to art or to "the joy of children" or any number of things is just chemicals and "such" but I had to remind her that in the end it didn't matter because we still gain something from listening to music, the laughter of children, looking at art and just "living".
So maybe we are some construct but in the end it doesn't matter as long as we have some meaning we can hold on to.
to that point, if you haven't seen it you should watch the movie "The 13th floor".
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I think better question would be; If you were, how would you know that you are? What would inform you as to the reality of your situation? I know it is the same question from another angle. But if you can't find anything that would suggest that it is the case. Then it likely isn't.

I think a computer program could do this, but there are two factors at least I can think of preventing it.
One is that there isn't a computer powerful enough.
Two is that we don't understand how everything works and may never understand it all completely. On a base level the things that make everything up are so tiny. Then you have the need for specific situations for specific things to happen.
I do believe the earth could be chance. If there was an explosion and many different planets and stars were formed from it there is the chance that something could happen on a few of those planets where life as we know it could be supported. Scientists already believe they have located planets that could sustain life for almost an indefinite time. Planets that hover around a white dwarf start that is less powerful than the sun, but the planets are much closer to it. Apparently white dwarfs do not give off the kind of light we see with so the creatures would have to see things in another spectrum.
Of course there are other crazy ideas out there like we are living in a 2D universe that is being translated into 3D. Something complex to do with theories on black wholes and why the universe is expanding so fast instead of slowing down.
It's only BETA. Of course they'll fix it before release. :-)

If we made video games like real life, we would walk around this new virtual world until we found a place where we could play mmorpgs and other online games. We would enter a virtual world within this virtual world but how long would we be able to play without looking for a mmorpg which looked like real life? How long after getting that would it take for us to look for a place where we could play mmorpgs and other online games? ....

Humans are always trying to escape real life. That's how MMOs got created in the first place.
Therefore, either reality is the sad, boring rock-bottom truth it seems to be, or whoever created it needs to be fired (and possibly hanged, shot, drawn, quartered, and barbecued). Either way, screw it, I'm logging into my latest escape.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
Well it's a theory. Seems to me to have the same dangerous attraction as religions ("because we can't prove the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't exist, its existing must be a very real possibility".) Personally I reserve the highest level of skepticism for ideas which define themselves as not being testable. (And nearly as much skepticism for ideas that are the tiniest step back from that extreme, as in this case.)

How do you know it's not provable? There is someone who is trying to do just that, by measuring spacial things and seeing if our reality is built on a 3D grid. I don't recall much more on it, but he's measuring the time it takes for something with a consistent movement to travel in different directions.
A very simply example is to imagine our existence is built on squares so that traveling up/down, or left/right would take less time than traveling diagonally.
Anyone who played UO, a hex based map, knows how running straight up/down, left/right, as opposed to any other direction was visibly faster. Same sort of thing.

Us talking about such things while living on this little pea of a planet.... floating around an insignificant star, which in turn is floating around an insignificant galaxy, which in turn is floating around an insignificant universe, which in turn is floating around who knows what.
