Not that many play this game, but I thought I would warn the few that do. Also this isn't a rant,I honestly don't care, I considered my 150 gone a week after I bought it, and they announced no single player so no mods, and the online is peer to peer, with people all over the world. I was bored so I put up a couple of posts on various fourms about selling my premium beta account. I never did get any response from any one. I doubt I would of even sold it, I just wanted to really see how popular the game was. The fourms were steam, and I believe star citizen. Anyways, they banned my account. So just for any one thinking of trying to buy a premium beta account, be warn they will ban it.

Now it is a rant lol. I guess the company must be doing pretty bad, wanting to ban any one selling a all expansions account. To bad there dedication to the game wasent as diligent as to finding people selling that. As I said though it doesn't really bother me they banned my account. It would be equivalent to some one banning me from using their garbage vacuum clearer that had no belt, and smoked in use. Good luck to those still supporting this game, I seriously doubt they will support you much longer haha. Considering the game is a useless mess of super cruise docking, and bad combat. With no hope of mods like x3, or huge money expansions like eve. Instead of fixing all that, and adding a expansion, to say I dono maybe some space station creation, where you have meaningful PvP. Nah they decided to go for a money grab on a Xbox.considering every one who backed him was not a x box player, and the majority liked a high quality PC setup, he is a serious bad word haha.

You tried to sell your account on steam and this game is on steam isn't it ?

  • KyleranKyleran Member LegendaryPosts: 43,975

Almost all MMO's prohibit account selling for real money, this one sounds no different.

Doesn't matter if other didn't get caught, you broke the agreement you accepted, so being banned isn't unreasonable.

    Sour grapes me thinks.

Yea, that's not how it works. Most developers will outright ban your account if you are caught trying to sell it. Don't let your agenda obfuscate common game rules.

Granted, gaming companies want it to be illegal, because it cuts into their so called potential profits, but lets be honest. Most people who buy used games because they can't afford the new box price will have no problem moving to pirated versions. In regards to places such as G2A which was caught with their pants down, or at least the customers who bought The Elder Scrolls Online from them have had their accounts banned. However, G2A is a very bad company, since the reason so many of their products are low prices was because they were bought with stolen credit cards or what have you.

It's all still a very confusing mess about who is legally able to do what. It was a huge battle back in the day when console gaming industry went after places like Gamestop. I haven't sold any console games recently, but I'm pretty sure you can still sell to Gamestop. The only reason laws were being created to stop it or regulate it was because drug addicts were selling stolen games as a means to supply their habits, much like stolen jewelry to a pawn shop.

By the way, for those of you who have ever sold a game at Gamestop. In case you didn't know, but all that information you write on the receipt is actually sent to a database used by law enforcement. I'm sure legal customers could care less, but I know some people like to keep their private information, private.

While you can't really pirate online computer games, like you can console or offline single player games. It's still going to come down to paid product, regardless of an end user agreement. Perhaps lawmakers should understand that most online games have additional forms of revenue and that even some games are free to play, which only proves that this avenue of financial gain is negligible and should be viewed as a customer right or choice in regards to resales of previously owned games. The other alternative is for gaming companies to offer at least a partial refund based of how long the product was used perhaps.

Even in the world of home owners, where the American government has made it quite clear that while you have a title of property ownership, that you really don't own it. The government has every right to take back your land if needed, BUT they must offer a fair price for said property. That is something gaming companies don't currently offer, which they should, if they want 3rd party sales to be eliminated.

Reselling a game is legal as far as I know, but account resales are a different matter, and I'm not aware of any ruling saying that a company can't restrict you from selling them and almost all MMOs will enforce this restriction.

As for your home, property, you never own it, if you fail to pay the real estate taxes they will take your home for the price of the tax bill, leaving you to deal with the mortgage company.

Whether it's illegal or not doesn't matter. Being a troll isn't illegal, either, but companies can still ban you for it.

Read the license agreement, then you will understand why this has resulted in a ban.

Section 5 - Intellectual Property Rights, Bullet 5.1.

Pretty much all online games have this clause or similar and have had for years.

Basically the rights in game and all in-game assets are licensed, not sold to you, and are always property of Frontier, you don't actually own anything, hence you cannot legally sell anything.

Who would have thought that trying to sell a MMO account would end up with a ban and a disgruntled player posting a rant on a forum?

The only difference is that you don't post 5000 lines about how innocent you are and how evil the MMO company is.

Apparently you guys can't read. I told you I could care less if I got banned, I think the game is garbage, and thought of the money lost a long time ago. The only thing that makes me angry is they lied and made no single player, so no more. They also made it peer to peer. You guys just like defending your games I guess. BTW steam didn't ban my account, they did. I never did get game companies like this one, you know your dealing with a shit company when a , within 12 hours of buying it they refuse to refund your money.

Again banning me from this game is like banning me from using 480p. There are seriously better quialty then this terrible game. The mods of x 3 are better than the whole game. But hey, if it wasn't for elite and dangerous and there terrible handling of their garbage random generated super cruise docking click trade game. I never would of found x 3. Enjoy your projection screen 480 p game, I'll enjoy my 4k 70 inch game.

You have no one to blame but yourself for your situation, OP. This isn't some shady business practice, you clearly violated the TOS and got banned for it. And when you stop to consider that Frontier has to operate under EU Consumer Protection laws, good luck convincing anyone that you were banned unfairly.

I think your are mistaken. There is a single player in this game, and it was there since the beta. They only removed the Off-line mode. It got some players dissapointed, but had no real effect at the end.

You're quite correct, it had little effect on revenue in the end.

That's mainly because FD waited until 3 months before launch to announce that they had decided "it was better for the game play" if they totally removed the offline option. By then, it was much too late for a serious backlash and refund options were limited.

It was the most blatant bait-and-switch in recent gaming history, lol.

Indeed, which as they have it, they didn't even check who put the information down. The account was never sold, nor was it transferred to any one. As you put it though, no other game company will ban your game account perm for typing random things on the internet about selling something, only if you actually do.  Guess the Brits cant tell the different between a act, and words. Not to mention the fact they have no proof the account holder even said anything. It is just a terrible company, with 0 hope of becoming anything.
