A couple weeks ago I wrote about some of the best MMOs we've had in 2015 so far. That list included stuff like new releases, games that saw big improvements, and some of the most promising ones to keep your eye on for the next half of 2015. This list, on the other hand, is going to focus on the exact opposite.

The article should have said "World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor" rather than just "World of Warcraft". The context of the article makes it clear it was mainly talking about the expansion. And rightfully so. The Garrisons were hotly anticipated as was the rest of the expansion and it ended up just being TERRIBLY boring and SHORT.
As a giant WoW fanboy of 9 years, I agree with it being disappointing.
I'll be there to buy the next ticket and ride the rides, but it was hard to take the expansion seriously with the whole AU theme. I'm just hoping it leads to more legion fun times.
I probably would have stuck around but I'll admit the ogre raid was just trash, imo. I really should hop back on and try out the new raid.

I disagree with WoW, i think the reason is because i dont play every month so when i do play i have a blast.
I know nothing about pathfinder so i cant comment on that one. I agree with the rest, but it pains me to agree with Cabal 2 because i loved Cabal 1 and this time around they failed from every angle except the combat which i really liked.
The legendary quest "grind" really killed it for me. I fell behind and I just never thought I could catch up. And there's lore in them there quests.

So far most of the indie MMO's are not looking that good. Pathfinder is only one of a long list of indie games charging for the privilege of playing their very mediocre game.
As to Wow, there is no challenge in the game whatsoever. Well the only challenge is if you want to do high level instances where people yell at you for not doing something right at some indeterminate moment.
I had fun once, it was terrible.

Love Minecraft. And check out my Youtube channel OhCanadaGamer
Try a MUD today at http://www.mudconnect.com/This site should be shut down for what they said about warlods of draenor....read their reviews , first impressions etc....now it is magically of the worst releases lol.
I am not a wow fanboi but for fck sakes atleast be consistent in your paid media hyping "journalism"
I came into this article thinking WoW has to be at the top of the list and what do you know it was. If only Bliz had followed through with the promise of a return to the games routes and not given us a glorified Facebook game like garrisons.
The problem is we're not talking about the hype driven initial reviews or first impressions. Yes, WoD got good reviews when it first came out and garrisons were new, but it's not being judging on first impressions.
The expansion is over. The last major patch is in and they're done with it so we can now judge it as a whole, and the whole is very very lacking for WoD.
Well, how about thinking twice, before you give the next lackluster WOW expansion the obligate 9,0 rating?
That doesnt only concern mmorpg.com, but every other magazine that gave the trainwreck "Diablo3 ver1.0" those enormous ratings and praised WOD, despite being the worst expansion this once beautiful game ever saw.
Hodor!
Aside from wow, not a single one of these games had any chance of being even mediocre. A trash gaming being trash isn't a disappointment.
Do you mean would it have been better? Personally I love the garrisons, they beat standing in front of the Stormwind/Orgrimmar banks and give me something else to do. What really makes people look foolish is when they say they like the expansion except for the garrisons. Simple fix is just not do the garrisons and go back to standing in front of the bank.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
People spent 10 years shouting "we want housing!" and then they finally get the best instanced housing system any MMO has ever done and they start complaining about the housing being too involved and grindy... just goes to show, never trust what people say they want.

I tend to think of it more like: We spent 10 years asking for player housing and instead got a mobile game made by people who are not particularly good at mobile games.
No, what we need is new genres. Right now we have loads of fantasy games, a few sci-fi, , some superhero games, a pirate MMO or 2 and a couple of zombie games. And TSW.
The possibilities for MMOs are almost countless. For one thing would a "Red dead" western MMO be really sweet. A musketeer MMO would also be amazing. Low fantasy is another possibility ala Game of thrones (AoC kinda pretended to be low fantasy but a third of the classes uses magic so they miss the point) that could be very successful.
I could see a CIV like crafting MMOs as well. And a MMO set in Europe 1066 for that matter. OR Cyberpunk. Maybe something with a little Hungergames/Divergence style.
You really are right that there are far too many high fantasy MMOs and too little of the rest right now, we do loose many potential players because of it but Sci-fi is the second largest setting right now. What we really need is to look on what cathegories of movies people enjoy and at least take some inspiration from that for new settings.
The garrisons are not player housing. They are a mechanic that is tied in to the entire expansion. It killed professions and a big part of the economy.
If I came back to WoW I could not even start the Tanaan questline because none of my toons have a level 3 garrison. Sure, it was my choice not to invest in a level 3 but why should I? I hate the garrison. It is a glorified facebook game. Your followers have more exciting adventures than you do in Dreanor.
If Blizz made true player housing or even guild halls were you could decorate, show trophies for guild achievements and just hang out with guildies it would have been far better.
When an entire expansion runs through the garrison what you get is the majority of the player base despising them.
yes i think they relied too much on the garrisons.. i kind of like how they work but they should not be the main focus of the expansion.. it should have been more a place to spend your downtime in.
