I clean installed the enterprise edition last night and it went pretty well, I had been using the preview builds in vm for a while so I kinda knew what to expect.

As for the OS itself, its stable but bugs do take residence. Like all "rolling OS's" I've tried.
For example, The task bar/button is set to my middle monitor but when you click it the menu appears on the far left monitor no-ware near the actual button lol.

I have not seen any improvement in fps on games if anything I've seen a degradation but i'm chalking that up to AMD drivers for WinX.

Also having installed the enterprise evaluation I don't have to deal with all the cortana and universal apps bullshit, so thats nice.

    >I installed win10

    >Kept everything so i didnt have to reinstall everything again

    >manually removed nvidia drivers, installed new one

    >opened services.msc and stopped all the pointless windows "features & services"

    >Ram usage is lower along with the amount of threads being used

    >11/10 would install again

I have no idea how people are having so many issues with W10. I upgraded by forcing it with the media tool on the 29th and haven't looked back since. I'm using W10 Home and am really enjoying it. All of my games play better and the new features with W10 are really nice. I've also had no issues at all setting it up and post-upgrade. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, but I am really enjoying W10, even this early on.

Umm.....no. I've worked in IT for the last 17 years and Windows 10 has been great so far. Easiest upgrade ever, and trust me I've done a lot.

The more I play with this, the snazzier it is.  Just like I got Chrometana.  That app is awesome.  Makes Cortana's searches show up in Google. (no more Bing)

Love it.  Now that I've got all my games installed, it's pretty sleak.  I'm not saying I'm a Win10 master by any means but I like what they've done.

And I REALLY like the updates to the Start Menu.  My ONLY gripe with it is there isn't a my computer i can right click to Manage.  I have to go File Explorer, then right click.  Otherwise, everything is close to my fingers.

And the lazy fat guy in me uses the search web/windows bar to skip even having to click.  Type a couple of letters and I get the program I'm looking for about 95% of the time with no digging.

Well you beat my time.. I lasted about 2 hours, decided I couldn't deal with all the clutter and went back to 8.1 (with classic shell). I'll probably upgrade eventually, but from everything I'm hearing it probably won't be before July 28 2016.

Been running windows 10 on my gaming rig for about 6 months... no real dramas except for the stuff that popped up during the testing phase / insider releases for me at least it all seems to have cleared up.

No Crashes, nothing weird happening after i stopped automatic driver installs, it's a dream OS to be honest.

installed it on my laptop couple of days ago, same thing.. runs amazing... it's faster, more light weight, performs better, looks better, just in general an amazing OS.

    Also for specs..

    i7 4790k / 2 x Sapphire R9 290x / 2 x Samsung EVO 850 500GB SSD / Asus Sabertooth x97

and i've had no driver issues, but then again i learned how to automatically disable windows driver updates for my video card a few revisions back.

    Not to mention AVG lel...

AVG is literally a piece of **** in general these days... it's nothing like what it's used to be it's turned into commercial bloatware crap... it's not even a recommended antivirus these days, there is better free options available... BUT that being said, windows defender is more light weight, uses less resources, less obtrusive and does everything you need

Bullshit. Windows 7 are for old grumpy cats who don't like change. See what I did there? I love windows 10 and I am definitely not lazy and not into PCs.there is no reason to use windows 7 over 10, 10 is better in every way. Of course if you are grumpy cat that doesn't like change... Let me guess you stayed on xp for years right?

I tried Eso and had 10-20 fps more on average. But then I don't have a shitty amd :D

thats incorrect and a silly statement to make

on my crossfire 290x gaming rig, i've seen a 20 - 30% performance increase across a tonne of games

his problems have nothing todo with AMD.. his problems are exactly what you're saying about not liking change and 30 minutes? clearly he gave the OS a chance and tried to configure it... the fact of the matter is, it has everything windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 has, but on steroids.. you're right about one thing... it's better in every aspect.

Did a clean install. Have tried everything I can think of. It works when I use the test button, but wont start automatically...

I installed Win X a couple of days ago, argued with it for over 12 hours and then rolled back to 8.1

The first problem was the OS refusing to use the latest Win X compatible drivers from Nvidia, instead forcing the basic windows video drivers on me and absolutely refusing to install the correct ones.  This despite me installing them before the upgrade so that they were already there.  I got that sorted without too much trouble and the sound packed in.  The only way to get the sound to work was to go into device manager, uninstall the soundcard and restart the system.  You can imagine how annoying that was everytime I restarted my PC.  There is a thread on the Microsoft forums about the sound issues that is now stretching to more than sixty pages, covers many different devices and configurations and includes various fixes and work arounds that work for some but not for others.  These sound issues have apparently been a part of the new OS for about six months so you can decide for yourselves why MS hasn't fixed them before release.

MS usually work closely with 3rd party providers to ensure maximum compatibility with a new OS.  I don't see how they could have worked closely with the likes of Creative Labs when the latter doesn't have any Win X drivers ready for their products.  For the older soundcards like X-Fi etc. users will have to wait until about October for those drivers to surface, unforeseen problems not withstanding.

The next thing I noticed was that Hitman Pro was flagging increasing numbers of the new OS files as suspicious, as was AVG.  They are now happy as Win 8.1 has made a return.

Lastly was the BSOD with a security kernel failure ( this is also driver related ) that convinced me that Win X is far from ready for release and needs about another 6 months in the oven.  The piss poor driver compatibilities of this new OS are astounding.

From what I saw Win X has the potential to be an excellent OS but for gods sake wait a few months before trying it.

Yeah... 0 hassles must be the norm based on your large sample of 1 lol.

Well, I don't live in the US. And yeah, 0 hassle. Because I didn't buy cheap hardware. MS isn't responsible for all the weird things hardware brands do to reduce the costs (ie not testing enough there products and drivers before releasing them).

Stop blaming Microsoft for all of the prblems of the world.

I made sure to compare the performance going to the same places in the game and with roughly the same amount of people in a fight.

My ignorant non-tech savvy conclusion is that windows 10 helped loosen up the bottleneck on my processor (possibly), no hardware change was made going from win 7 to win 10 and both are 64 bits version.

Here are some of my hardware specs for those who would be wondering :

    Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93Ghz

    RAM : 16 GB @ 1600 MHz

    Video card : GeForce GTX 760  1280GB Gddr5 vram

    Hard drive: 1TB SATA

Also none of my games crashed so far, I tried Everquest 1 and 2 , APB reloaded, Dirty Bomb, Firefall, Hearthstone, WoW, Heroes of the storm , Landmark, Marvel Heroes, Magic Duels, Skyforge, Trove.

I hope this will help a little bit.

Don't know why you had such problems with Win 7 for Planetside2, just using an old amd phenom I, at 2.6ghz with a 660 GTX, I was getting good results on high settings and still keeping a good 45 - 60 fps even in the most intense fights, while admittedly thats when it drops down to about 45 fps, now that i've upgraded to a 4.7ghz cpu, it rarely drops at all, with your system you should have been able to romp it without any framerate issues at all so If you were only able to get medium settings with the gear you have, it sounds like installing Win 10 fixed an issue with your setup, whether it was chipset or driver issues etc. no idea, but whatever it was, it wasn't an OS issue.image

    So what is your alternative?

Hug onto W7 for a year till they stop updates?

Hug onto W8? The OS the users sayeveryone loves and that it is a good OS but figures say it is the worst ever and almost put MS into Tier 2 software producers?

    XP: no more updates

    Windows 95? 98(SE)? ME? NT? 3.1? DOS?

    Apple's MAC OS? loooool

Linux? "DirectX+Linux= kabooooom!" and major headaches trying to get each AAA game to run decently to play.

I dont like the Store, online/could calendar and cloud mail, so I disabled that. Bing is crap if you are outside the US so that's disabled. MS does not support voice in my language unless I switch my OS to English so meeeeh, Cortana disabled. I keep the good things from W10 and combine it with the good things in W7. Everything else is just disabled or unused and buried within the system.

And with that the system runs fast, stable and is not hogging memory.

Support for Win 7 will be going on for years, even if its just security updates, which is something that also happens with Win 8 btw, i think the biggest problem is with Win 10 in its current state, at the moment there are a lot of issues with it, for me at least, i'd rather wait it out and see how things go and what they manage to fix, and even if that means i have to wait over a year before Win 10 is in what i consider to be a usable state, then so be it, i don't care, because i'd rather pay than risk my system on an as yet unproven Operating System. Apprently it is a all or nothing experience. I have just upgraded all my computers in my company with W10, no issues.

Personally with my own PC's at my office at home and my private machines, no issues.

But I guess some upgrades havent been handled well. Personally I am always for a clean install instead of upgrading over a used OS, but this time I have to compliment MS with it.

You sir are simply showing your ignorance while I merely related my experience with the new OS.  You should know that with the wealth of configuration options and mixtures of hardware available for the modern PC that different people will have different experiences and unfortunately mine was bad.  Far from hating MS I stated that Win X had the potential to be a great OS but I would still advise people to wait a few months before upgrading, especially if their current OS works fine.

From what I saw Win X has the potential to be an excellent OS but for gods sake wait a few months before trying it.

maybe cause u dont know anything about how to install it loool. sorry to burst your bubble kiddo Win 10 went smooth and no problems, Drivers, browsers etc no problems
