[Column] Project Gorgon: Bringing Back the Old Magic

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

At one point or another, most of us have had that "back in my day" moment. You don't have to go far to find forum threads bursting with nostalgia for a simpler, more enchanting time for online games. Well good news everyone, amidst the sad news of declining World of Warcraft subscription numbers and other omens that MMORPG doomsday prophets inevitably point to, we are finally getting a little sliver of that old magic back. It's name is Project: Gorgon.

Here's a title that is really grabbing my attention. I can't seem to pull the trigger on it for some reason and give it a shot, but it's really starting to intrigue me.

It's free no trigger pulling needed. It's small to download and easy to install you can be playing in 5 minutes on a bad connection :).

I recommend playing this.  I've spent some time in PG, and it's good fun.  I'm looking forward to progress on the game.  Even thought it looks a bit dated, we know that isn't the core of gameplay.  Something about this game feels honest.

I'm going to check this one out. I like to support indie projects, but I'm really skeptical about this. When I hear "old school", I hear generic Fantasy Game with poor immersion and heavy grind. There's a reason they don't make most MMOs the way they used to. Most people don't want to go out into a field and kill the same 5 monsters over and over again for an hour to grind up their levels.

So, I'm going into this one with lowered expectations.

I'm just too impressed with the game! That and I like how they are doing their KS in small scales that are easily achievable and the fact that in doing so they are meeting their goals within days of being set,  Plus now we have Dwarves!! =D

There definitely is a lot of "doingit right" going on with this team and this Kickstarter. Very happy for the team and its backers. Looks like they'll get something really cool out of this!

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

Is there open world pvp in this game? Or any pvp for that matter?

To me the game is just OK......It has some cool elements, but others just dont feel right...The whole cow, spider, wolf, etc wore me out....The graphics are very year 2000ish and I jsut dont know if its going to fly in year 2015 as a b2p game......I played it for free for a couple years and I have no interest in buying it.
