Chris Roberts and the Star Citizen team showed off a demo that builds on the Arena Commander module. To best explain it, a video was produced to show multi-crew ships that will house all of the pals of a player's pilot. See what you think and leave us your comments.

Multi-crew ships build on Star Citizen’s Arena Commander module - spawning a small group of players on a space station and leaving them to make their own fun with a craft big enough to house them all.
Players can take the controls, man turrets, and embark on space-walking missions of their own devising.

Will this show be in 3D?
Best SC Video ever. You get to see how salvaging a ship works, combat, shields, huds, turrets... and the lighting.
And FYI... You get more than one PC per account in SC.
But, MMORPG is not that way off.... If you have 8 extra NPCs (not hired crew) they could all man the stations of a multicrew ship.

That was a very 'smart' video, demonstrating a lot of 'smart' game systems.
Always been my dream to crew a ship with my friends. Patience will be rewarded.
Indeed. Was pretty 'smart' for chris to stick to his guns and put together this 'smart' demo. all the
'smart' people in the audience gave positive reaction to what was shown, all of it ingame.
Always confused when people claim Star Citizen is vaporware. It is most obviously not. You can log into Arena Commander and play the thing. You can run around in your hangar and jump the ramps in a buggy. You can climb out of your ship in multiplayer dogfighting and try to kill other players with a handgun. You can use the toilet in a constellation. During the gamescom presentation, they accidently damaged the Retaliator too much for it to make it back to the station to finish the demo.
Not Vaporware.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams
Hmm, didn't see anything about it being actual gameplay. Just it being a multi-crew demo. Which is not the same thing.
*ducks incoming fan-bois filled with anger and hate towards anything that doesn't have a positive SC spin.*
Vaporware is just another of the many overused terms heard on forums by those who are supposedly "in the know". Like sandbox or fanboi.
Next time you see someone use it, just substitute the term, "unfinished game" and then you get the meaning. Whether there is code written or not, they are all simply unfinished games.
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
Have you ever developed software? I doubt very seriously if a few malcontents batching & moaning on a forum motivated any of their software engineers to rush this demo out the door. Last years gamescon demo was just as impressive.
I will say this again, when something is ground breaking it takes TIME to get it right. SC is 'trying' to do what no other game has done before. That doesn't happen over night, or in two years, maybe not in three. But if they can pull it off it we will have a game that could potentially be expanded for years and years and years.
It was alright but most of it didn't wow me like I was hoping for. Non-gushing write up at http://kotaku.com/star-citizen-shows-new-demos-some-cool-some-not-1722787129 that sums it up well.
Any ideas of maximum number of people that can be in a planetside instance?
No need to duck... but none of that video was "created" ? if that makes sense... all that you saw was actually in game footage and mechanics.
Just stop already...
Not sure 100% but when I heard talk, they wanted a lot of people to be able to meet up planetside... but invite only in the hangar (which was confusing to me on the space station in video) and the FPS portion was supposed to be 20v20 or something...
Pretty dang good for something that can't be done and is "vaporware"...there must be some smart people out there having a fit of jealousy!
Gotta say the quantum drive or w/e it's called is looking lots nicer than Elite Dangerous supercruise or hyper jumps!
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
This pressure has been there far longer than that (Smart was simply regurgitating hot point backer issues to garner attention and support for himself) .... as for what you're referring to it lasted about as long as a couple articles... since.. the Media, as well as Smart have been rather silent on the matter.
In short, of course this video was done to show progress, as well as offering up a bone to backers, yet it's still not what many of them are/were after, as that is mostly in regard to pledge related "rewards"as well as extension to the game they paid for and the launch window related to it.... Basically I'd say the two events were unrelated, as this was inevitable...
On top of the above, you don't plan/develop, Con related expos in a few short weeks. Especially when the lead (Roberts) isn't even around through most of that time...Wasn't he in Europe or something?

It reminded me of EVE's warping. Point-to-point as opposed to free-roaming.
I disagree with it being "better" than Elite's, they serve different purposes. Elite's supercruise allows for seeing the scale of a star system as well as adding mechanics which is something you don't get from SC's quantum drive. But SC adds mechanics to its jump point navigation which will be interesting to see.
Please stop trying to talk to me rpmcmurphy, I am not interested at all because no matter what happens with ED you will keep defending them and see no wrong and hear no evil which is perfectly fine if you wish to do this but I feel there's no point in talks with you as you cannot be objective at all in any way when making comments.
I feel it looks way better visually as supercruise is rather bland and hyper jumping is a loading screen with zero variations once you seen the sequence. Btw hyper jumps are point to point too in ED.
Anyways you seem to be following me from one thread to another and it's starting to feel like harassment at this point so I have blocked you.

LOL what the hell?
Sorry I didn't know I wasn't allowed to respond to you on a discussion board where people go to state their opinions about subjects they are interested in.
How can you make a claim that I'm following you when I can just say, well you're the one responding to me...
This is rhetorical by the way, I'm not actually asking you to respond to me in any way.
It IS a demo of AC 2.0 in its current state.
The version we players can play will be uploaded later in the year, after CIG improves on the glitches seen in the video, like avatar animation and jerky movements when shifting zones (looks like a sudden small change in posture when the avatar locks on to a new zone like the interior of a spaceship ).
Have fun
