Crafting Questions on the Classic Server plus a few other questions from a noob

vtravivtravi Member UncommonPosts: 400
I just started playing this game for the first and am loving it. With crafting I have a few questions

1. In the tooltip I see 4 question marks and when I craft one of the items one of the ? fills to show what was made. Does this mean that item can be made in to 4 different items with different stats? I have made serveral copies of things and they all have the same stats unless I crit something.

2. Is there a way to find out the items stats before you make an item?

3.How do Crits work? It seems random to me. Is there anything I can do to help crit an item other than the normal crafting?

Also some non crafting questions

4.Anyway to have your HP's show on your HP Bar. I have gone to the options and just see a percentage option.

5.Why are other players names different colors? What do they mean?

I think that is it. If I have more questions I will add them to this thread

also I am a level 12 outfitter and my main class is Fury. Fury wears Leather but all the leather items I can make up to level 12 doesnt have wisdom on it. Should I keep going outfitter?

At one time YES your craft could be different with the first slot always just a return on your fuel if you fail the craft.
However now you only want to aim for the full version as the other 3 slots just return your i think it is fuel, lmao i don't even know because i never fail a craft.Anyhow it is either your fuel or rare that gets returned if you fail.

I should tell you some helpful hints when starting out.

There is a crafting timeline quests. You really should head to Halas and do these asap.I am not positive on exact level needed if any ,i am pretty sure i started them before the rated 15 level of the quest.

These offer RARE harvest rewards,so you can craft your own rares. My memory is shotty lol but i think you can buy the 1-10 advanced recipe books from npc, then 11-20 you may need to buy from the auction house.Prices seem to be rising fast as the server begins to age.

These quests will continue on in Butcherblock Bay"level 20+ questline once that expansion enters the game/server.

If you start sooner than the level 15,you will get level 15 recipes from the quest that allows you to level even faster albeit the crafting will be tougher.

If you are totally new to the whole thing, the 3 left boxes are what you want to aim for MOST of the time.Just spam 123 until you have to meet a required reaction, reason is those first three build upon the durability of your craft. After you get the hang of it ,you can try spamming buttons 456 for faster progress. What i do is build about 2 bars with Durability 123 buttons, then when it calls for a particular reaction i use  the 456 buttons, hitting the proper one first of course.

If you start game in Frostfang sea then your all set,if starting from say an Evil town then you have to head to Nektulos Forest run left to the beach and take the globe to thundering steppes. From there head right/north on map to goto Antonica, then take Griffin bird to docks, from there a bell should take you to Frostfang sea, docks right below town.

Btw if from Evil town you will be running back n forth a lot from crafting area back outside to whiteside lodge just outside of town.

Your question about stats on crafts.....

Criticals on crafting are random luck, but you aid your cause by hitting the correct button when the process asks for a reactive response from you.So you might be spamming buttons 123 123 then all of a sudden you may need to use button 2 first to react to the picture shown. It is possible to get a real critical that gives your player i think a 5 minute bonus buff that improves your crafting chances even more, you will see it via a sort of flashing blue gas ring that surrounds your player.

Crafting is basically setup  the same on all crafts..SO if a Leather crafter, you will eventually see your WIS gear somewhere in that level 10-19 range, then again in the next tier from 20-29 and so on every tier offers a new upgrade. You will see the item you want in the same place each tier so if your item is a recipe book 5 it will be 15 then 25 then 35,same for your Hexx Dolls ,the one you want might be 14 then 24 then 34.

So if you want leather to craft for your Fury you will choose to be an Outfitter until level 20 then you  can choose from the NPC to become a Tailor who can craft bags and Hex Dolls ,leather and Cloth armor.

I should add that there are OTHER crafting books besides the NQ and Advanced volumes. You can google for some more answers to your crafting needs. An example is there are loot drop recipes pertaining to DFC Deathfist Citadel, grandmaster recipe books as well and other books as well.

Really no need to use 1 2 3 durability stuff until the durability bar starts to fall.  I always use 6 to make the craft as fast as possible, this increases progress the most.  Have never had a fail either, doing it this way.
