Ever since I watched The Hunger Games I've been in love. No, not with Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of hero Katniss Everdeen (though she was pretty cool), but rather with the idea The Hunger Games was built upon. Yesterday, I was able to finally have a part of that dream realized, and I cannot stop thinking about it. The developers of Ark: Survival Evolved rounded up a bunch of writers and YouTube personalities and threw us into our own Battle Royale, and it was incredible.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, if you dont have a top of the line, top notch PC with huge amount of ram, we are talking 16+ and top notch graphic card, otherwise you will loose your money, Steam will not refund you the money if you play or try to play the game and you used more than 8 hours of play (including countless hours waiting for download and patches, they are considered play time) BE ADVISED YOU WOULD NOT BE REFUNDED BY STEAM. So buyer be aware dont be a victim. If you dont have a $3000 plus PC dont even try this game.

    Let me correct you...

Do not buy this game if you do not understand what EARLY ACCESS ALPHA means.

This game is still in development. While creating an awesome game, they have not spent a ton of time on optimizing the client performance on DX10. DX12 is their target anyhow. DX12 client will be coming soon. It will not be fully optimized. It will have bugs. It will not run as you would expect a final release product to run because...

It is in EARLY ACCESS ALPHA.

It is up to you to READ about what you buy instead of blindly swiping the Visa and then blaming others for your irresponsibility.

    AMD 3.8GHZ
    Nvidea GTX 760
    8GB of Ram
Textures on Epic, everything else on medium, runs fine for me. While it does need a lot of optimisation (Early Access title, check back next June for official release after optimisation) it doesn't require what you say it does. Your mileage may vary as it's all system dependant, some people with better rigs than me don't seem to have as much luck.

    Yet Another survival game.
Somehow Rust manages to run better than this game.

Ark is quite easily the best survival game I have played.  They are upfront with their patches, constantly adding new dinos and equipment, and the game runs like a dream on my dated PC.(Running on highest btw) Running a GTX 770, 8g ram, AMD 3.5 ghz x4 970.  I understand ARK isn't for everyone, but most definitely worth a go if you like this genre. Although it should be mentioned I play on a private server with guildies.
Played Dayz,Warz,7dtd,Wurm,H1z1,Rust,Stompingland, and Nether. Might of missed a few.  Ark has been more enjoyable than all of them.

Long term playability is severely lacking. I have 500+ hours in it but that is also over 5 or 6 replays on several different types of servers, including stand alone modded. But its the same thing over and over again, and even with constant updating and adding new things to the game it is still the same thing day in and day out. I havent logged in in a long time, even after they added the bigfoot dinos who can gather fibre. Its a game where the 'journey' might be better than the destination but the journey isnt that long and the destination is a dead end. It is a game that almost needs PvP but the way PvP is implemented it is a complete waste to play on a PvP server. Alpha or not isnt an excuse because the design is seriously flawed. Still 10 months away from the supposed "official" release date but I suspect by then the number of people left playing will have dwindled to a bare minimum. Great concept good graphics bad optimization (and they DID optimize it a dozen or more times the first month) just absolutely nothing to do int he game once you have leveled up or played it a few times. Zero variation.

At this point in development, the game is not much different than Minecraft Beta. There is no destination, all of the enjoyment comes from the journey. 100% sandbox at this point in time. If that's good for only "500+" hours so far, seems to me a great bargain.
