MAD MAX is an open world third-person Action RPG from Avalanche Studios, makers of the Just Cause series. Set in the same world as the legendary movies, players take the role of Mad Max in an open world wasteland. The game is about 60% car combat, 40% third person melee and ranged weapon combat, with several skill trees to level up involving driving, your melee prowess, and your ranged weapon usage. Players can completely personalize the Magnum Opus (Max

Seems a bit linear for what I expect from something described as open world. Looks like a solid console style action game.

This is basically the tutorial. Once Chumbucket's base gets blown up (spoilers!) the whole world is open. It plays a lot like Shadow of Mordor. Lots of side missions, but one main story going through it all.

Nevermind me, video stopped after 7 minutes on my iPad. I see I missed a lot, most of the video.

I'll probably stream some on YT later, if not tomorrow. :) M/KB controls work, but the game feels better on the controller.

You know Angry Jim or whatever. I think you should start reviewing games on Youtube and regularly smash your keyboard up, it will increase visits here dramatically.

I could try that. It'd be like Boogie's Francis character. Only worse because people might think I'm serious.

This is my gripe about most, if not all, console type games/controller based movement. Looking at you The Witcher 1, 2 and 3 prior to alternate movement patch. Curious to see if ranged combat "feels" better with this movement style than melee appears to. Do they go first person when you pull up gun sights?

Third person for shotguns, first for sniper. But that said, the combat is almost entirely melee. Idea being that ammo is super scarce.

I'm really loving this game..It is open world to the point where you get a primary mission but you can run off and destroy camps or take out enemy outposts..etc.. If you enjoy Batman style fighting than this will be right up your alley. Since its a WBplay game it seems like all the fighting mechanics are right out of Batman. The car building aspect of this game is super fun with tons of options.. I play with Keyboard mouse which is a little awkward with driving, but overall still works well. I have several friends playing with a controller saying that it works great. I picked up this game as cheap as $19 so there are some good bargains out there.

Unimpressed. More fodder for the console crowd.

For some reason ive never been a MadMax fan - Ive seen all the movies as a kid, I've seen the new movie and its just not my cup of tea. Something about a post nuclear wasteland with nomadic motorized gangs just makes no sense to me.
Same here. I played borderlands 1,2, and Rage when they all came out and i still havent been able to beat them. I want to play Mad Max but there is something in that type of universe that cant hold my attention long enough. I watched one of the old Mad Max movies as a kid too and i liked it but wasnt a big fan. Also, i think this game could have benefited from a drop in drop out coop like borderlands. The game looks too desolate to enjoy alone. Thats just me.

It doesn't look bad, but I generally dislike combat that's similar to the Arkham games. I especially hated Shadow of Mordor. So if this game's story is just as thin, I definitely won't play it. Either way, too busy with Witcher 3 & MGSV anyway.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

Yep, if that's the case steer clear. Combat is a lot like Mordor and Arkham, but somehow less complex and easier. It's fun, but somehow a little flat.

Usually one does say spoiler BEFORE giving the spoiler. Else it is a bit redundant ;). Seems like a fun game though, but waiting for it to lower in price or be on a steam sale. Game will just be as fun next year.
