Niantic has broken away from Google and its inaugural real world, multiplayer game, Ingress. Taking many of the lessons learned from the development of Ingress and entering into a partnership with Nintendo, Niantic is now working to bring Pokemon into the real world with its new mobile title Pokemon Go. Players will be tasked with finding Pokemon in the world and sending them off to do battle.

    Aww cool! My kids played the originals and we watched the TV show. Had a version for Gameboy but screen was too small. Hope this comes to larger screened tablets! Wonder how they'll generate revenue though? Cash shop? If so what would be in it?

    i do not think this is possible in some country ( especially in the ghetto places, i am not sure if this will work as they advertised it

    what a cool idea.  The best way to make it work would be to simplify it substantially.  I thought ingress was interesting but I couldn't get into it.

    Interesting to see them convert the Ingress systems over. My kids play Ingress with me, look like our hobby might have to convert to Pokemon.

    I was cringing but at the same I WAN'T I WAN'T I WAN'T!!!!

    Just fantasized myself commuting on the train, and then realising someone else has the game via the features that will alert you, and having some "epic" battles on the way to work ... and later on randomly challenging people on the train to battle.
