Don't worry everyone! I voted too! But I'm pretty sure my Top 10 is not even remotely the same as how the list came out... But that's okay! Everyone except me is just wrong.

If Asheron's Call isn't in the top 15 I will choke a baby dwarf.
To me still for pure fun uniqueness and openness, loot design, leveling and char development AC will always be tops.

About 30 of us voted on 100 games so the top (little more than) third of them are the ones we actually pretty much agreed on after compiling the numbers. I'd say it's a pretty broad spectrum of players and preferences and knowledge. It was fun to do and to see how it came out...though you all have to wait to find out. MWAHAHAHA! >:)
30 is compiled of who , as this site seems very biased on its reviews let alone voting for GOAT, really cant take it very seriously as there most likely will be an agenda
You can take it as seriously as any other TOP X list from any other place. Everyone has a personal bias and there is truly no way of ever not having a biased TOP whatever list. Who the 30 are is really immaterial. This is just a fun thing for mmorpg.com to do. It drives up views, comments and user activity, which in turns means better revenue for ad space.

Considering that this is the top 35 games out of 850 listed on MMORPG, I'd say that it's pretty good. Heck, if you're not WOW, GW2, or FFXIV, or any other big name games, it's probably an honor to even make this list. So don't be mad if your favorite game is on this list and it isn't rated any higher than 35.

I would have put W101 nearer the top of the list, partly due to its immense popularity, but mainly due to the surprisingly involved combat mechanics and many well-realised features.

Well, it is obvious what No 1 is going to be... Hellgate: London.

I love POE but its a stretch to class it as an MMO

If someone is talking in general chat in a language you dont understand, chances are they're not talking to you. So chill out and stop bitching about it!

But it will bring in the punters. People love lists, just look on Youtube at the number of "top ten people with the name  Barry"; "top ten times my bicycle was stolen" lists there are.

Has GGG ever called POE an MMO?

Dear god I would love to see the list of worst MMOs. I think reading about how bad the aspects were of those games would be much more entertaining than a top list. Please!

For Satans sake....PoE is no MMO, and GGG didn't WANT to create one, either. D3 took too long, so they created the D2 successor they themselves wanted to play. Turns out it was the better Diablo game.

Cool, played several so far. Fallen Earth would be way higher on my list. When it first launched there was so much unique about it. Had the devs in world talking to everyone. Nearly everyone online was friendly and helpful. Truly the initial times in FE were a magic rarely felt these days in MMOs, at least imho.

FE is/was an amazing game. It easily cracks my top 5 all time.

I didn't realize how difficult it would be to come up with a top 25 until I tried come up with one, with as much bias as humanly possible. I would have loved to have been in on those debates!

There havent even been 35 MMOs worth playing so Vanguard should have been much higher on the list of the 'best' 35 ever made.

    First 5: 1) WOW 2) GW2 3) ESO 4) SWTOR 5) TERA
I think you mean: 1) Everquest 2) WOW 3) UO 4) EVE Online 5) SWTOR Each of these games innovated the genre so imo makes them GOAT mmos. Before you start YES to SWTOR because Bioware took storytelling in MMOs to a whole new level.

EQ should be #1, it is the ONE that started the modern 3d MMO.

FE was always one of those "if only" mmos for me. It had a cool setting and artstyle and some great crafting, but alas rather than going full sandbox they just went themepark without any rides :/

    Wouldn't that be Meridian 59?
