This will ruffle some feathers. The staff at MMORPG.com, from President Craig McGregor and CTO Ben Krueger, to our wonderful list of reviewers, columnists, and community managers, all the way down to your humble and lowly Managing Editor (me) have voted. We took the top player-rated games from our Game List, including those that have been closed after launch, and we ranked them.

    There aren't 35 good mmorpgs in the history of the genre. So they have to put bad ones on the list to round out out.

    man i would have Warhammer much close to the top 10. that game was so much fun with my goblin shaman. real too bad it fell apart so fast. end content was pretty lame, and even pvp got kind of ridiculous at high levels with insane amount of knock backs, stuns, and aoe damage. i remember getting to tier 3 pvp getting chained stunned/knocked/nuked endlessly until i pretty much gave up on the game. still, lower level pvp and pve was some of the funnest i've ever had.

    23.) Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning gone too soon= lost my hopes on mmos longevities. thank goodness 'warhammer 40k: inquisitor' is right around the corner!

    Wildstar at 19 is completely wrong and makes me go hmmn. Obviously some younger people got their say on that one. It truly doesn't belong in the greatest category. Seriously it couldn't even sustain a subscription model and is probably going to fail at the free to play model as well. Tera at 25 was weird to me since it has the most engaging combat system, and should be 19 all day over Wildstar.The rest of the list is OK and I could somewhat live with.

    Did you skip over the part at the top that says this is based on votes by mmorpg staff? So yes this is all opinion. Useless article? I don't think so since it lets us see what the staff really like(d)

    WAR wasn't gone soon enough. Jeff Hickman and Paul Barnett saw to that. I will never touch any product associated with them ever again.

    LOTRO did a lot of justice to the IP and the PvE gameplay was dammed good. I still have screenshots from that game and the story was excellent. It still has a core following to this day. It deserves a spot on the list.

    Darkfall deserves to be there. Sure it was buggy, sure it was a mess, but I'd be lying if I didn't say it was a complete blast for the time it was around. I'm surprised Runescape isn't in the top 10.

    Another example of MMORPG.com being not aligned with reality. LOTRO is still going and though didn't produce what many wanted being it cloned the WOW model, has been more than successful enough over the last 8 years. It was one of the only games I was able to play for more than 8+ months revisiting it several times over the last few years as it had a very good RPG community. The FTP did save it, but it seems to be doing quite well. Also, if you look at the overall success of SWTOR which has been out a lot longer than Wildstar and see the plunge Wildstar took in a very short period of time, how they could put Wildstar higher up is nothing more than a pat on the back to Bill who overhyped that game and its artistic look from the beginning and is now sobbing over how horrible it ended up to be.
