Not an mmo but given the capabilities of the engine I wonder whether there might be "companion games" in the future. They have the artwork and in Dragon Age say they have a control system.
There's a reason I still have Battlefield 2 installed on all of my computers and have spent a shamefully large amount of hours playing it. It's the same reason I am unlikely to ever install this game. I love the shit out of the DICE approach to designing shooters which they no longer practice. Conversely, I've never had much lasting interest in the Activision approach to shooters. Various CoDs are not games that I'll ever put over 3000 hours into and perhaps that's a high bar but it's also a testament to how right DICE got it, once upon a time. Even if I was into Activisions style of shooters, I'd probably get it direct from the source as I imagine they'll do it better. So thanks for the warning, Bill.
I must say though, that I do respect EA's recent announcement that they'll not be adding microtransactions to this game. I had thought that war was over and consumers had lost. Hopefully they do very well with Battlefront and don't regret their decision to not put more fees into a full box-price game. Now if they'll only drop season passes so we can stop needing to buy the same game twice. Frankly, they haven't been good enough to justify that.
I thought everyone called em at-ats? XD
While the game does look good, I have the feeling it's not interesting enough to play, coming from a guy who has been spending most of his time playing Dirty Bomb recently.
I think we're going to have to disagree on these competitive games doing progression being a good thing. I *really* miss the days where every new map/level load started everyone on a level playing field. Unlocks and progression will make this game less friendly to new people starting off in 6 months.

I still have BF2 installed, although I haven't played it in awhile, it is still my favorite multiplayer shooter by a WIFE margin. BF2 was the last "real" Battlefield game AFAIC, well 2142 shared BF2's design philosophy and engine, so would make an argument that was the last of the "good" Battlefield games but it wasn't as enjoyable to play as BF2.
Anyway...I am most definitely going to be getting Battlefront, I think this game looks amazing and if it's as much fun to play as Battlefront 2 was (hopefully minus the bugs and instability that plagued that game) then I will be logging hundreds of hours into it. The best thing about playing Battlefront 2, imho, was playing as the Hero's. There was never a great system implemented to decide who got to spawn in as the Hero and idk if this will get that right either, but when you do get to spawn in as Darth Vader, Yoda, Grevious or any of the other insanely powerful characters in the Star Wars universe it is just too much fun. Whether you're flipping around as Yoda, slicing off heads with the flick of a tiny green wrist, or twirling Grevious's 4 lightsabers and running through a crowd of troops mowing them all down as you go, it just doesn't get much better than that...
I just really can not decide if I want to pick this up for PC or my PS4. I consider myself a PC gamer, and prefer mouse + keyboard by far over a gamepad, but lately my son monopolizes my PC playing Minecraft with his friends for hours and hours. It's also hard to deny the amazing experience sitting on my couch playing on my 70" tv in full HD w/ surround sound makes. I think I will pick this up on PS4 at first, and if I REALLY am into it I will probably pick it up on PC (since my tv time is limited b/c my wife monopolizes the TV w/ Stupid Housewives of Cincinnati).
Watched some beta on twitch.tv. Looks nice and fun but also just like any other shooter, this time in the star wars universe. Don't know but I think 60 Euros (70 for deluxe) is a little too much.
The fact that they are limiting sniper rifles in this game gives me hope that it will be fun. Ever since Dice made snipeing one of the easyest things to do in battlefield it really ruined the experience for myself and my friends who use to love BF games. because BF use to be about capping points and squad play ( not sniper camping all game ).
Im looking forward to trying the open beta, because i wont ever buy another EA game without beta testing it first.
The mapping looks good because there is a lot of nooks and crannies although i see nobody using any tactics more just some run n gun.
Personally i don't like any sort of ctf idea,i only like DM because there is no RACE you simply play with tactics/cunning.
The graphics, some getting over anxious here, they are basically one simple rock texture, nothing special at all.It is not a game breaker for me although added colors and map identities offer a better understanding of the map.As well a GOOD map needs strategic locations such as health packs or whatever.
IDK about the actual weapon versatility in this game,i basically see one weapon used but overall it looks ok for pvp,not great but ok :P

When you pilot an AT-AT, your on rails. And don't expect to just run out and jump into an X-Wing. Not gonna happen. You will be forced into the trenches to unlock your ability to pilot one. Then you get shot down/crash and repeat the process. There are going to be huge amounts of people who will be severely disappointed in this game. Basically a re-skinned BF4 with new maps.
I am a huge star wars fan but I will not buy it,its just maps and shooting.
destiny is not great but if they made star wars battle front like that I would have bought it!
I am disssapointed they are leaving out alot of content and making certain things powerups for the sake of helping noobs(which doesnt belong in an fps). I do however like all the different game modes and the graphics. I wish the vehicles weren't tied to power-ups either and I hope there is ground to space combat and awesome bases like the imperial destroyer in SW:BF2.
Really hope it isnt as shallow as they made it out to be though.

That is my biggest issue with Sniping in most shooter games. You gave people a one shot one kill weapon, then make it dead easy to aim/shoot. The most common downside is re-load time which big deal when you are by design far out of the action. Imo no one has gotten sniping right yet.
My 2nd issue with Sniping is that it slows down what is usually a really fast paced match, what I feel arena/lobby shooters should be. Anyway, enough of my rant here, but I am glad to see what EA has done with sniping here.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
I also have to mention, I really like the no iron-sights. You can use L trigger to zoom in, but it offers no more chance to hit than just shooting from the hip would (except with the sniper card). It's really refreshing to get away from that Call of Duty paradigm and go back in time to a day when you could just point and shoot.
