Get out before the stock takes a nose dive. I can't see any other reason to cash in now, unless they expect the price of stocks to take a tumble.
Doubtful; Nexon probably decided to use the money tied up in NCSoft for something else.
The impression one got was that the "significant synergies" Nexon reference was the merger of the two companies - under Nexon's leadership. Synergies: management / organisational / locational and even product streamlining with better leverage when purchasing / distributing stuff etc.
With, again the impression one got, NCSoft resisting Nexon's overtures their options were limited: hostile takeover; silent partner; walk away. They have chosen the latter option and will now seek a higher return elsewhere, maybe funding other games or whatever.
I agree and have also given you an "insightful".

Another possibility is that NCSoft established a "poison pill" strategy to prevent Nexon from taking over. NCSoft's business model for GW has been well-received by both the players and industry. A lot of subscription-based systems have gone to GW's model after losing subs. I think that within a few years, that WoW might actually follow.
Who has gone to the GW2 model? Most go to the LOTRO/SWTOR model. I'd say the GW2 model failed financially
the immediate sale of all its shares
why immediate?? as far as i know usually they negotiate these stuff(behind close doors) and it will take time....if company is doing ok and shareholder wants to sell it for any reason they try to find the best buyer and wont sell if fast...but then again it says" the immediate sale of all its shares" that smell fishy to me.
also funny, aion even though this last update makes the game looks like its incomplete never had any big update over the installer but last week they changed how you log into the game, possible getting started for the blade and soul and with the nexon out of any way in getting in the way maybe finally we will get more games here
Seems most of you don't realize that NCsoft is a Korean company. They used to be the blizzard of Korea, now they are being choked out by tencent. Company is dying, guild wars alone can't keep it afloat.
So here's the thing.. From what i'ver read, Nexon was aiming at hostile takeover. Now that Wildstar is profitable, those prospects are dashed. Guild wars 2 is not even their highest grossing game...
You people that think gw2 and Wildstar are important to NCsoft are so cute.
NCsoft's future is dependent almost entirely on Lineage Eternal being successful. Nexon giving up it's takeover bid indicates that they think Lineage Eternal is going to be very successful.

While I agree with you to a point, I must say that Lineage 1 is in no danger of loosing its spot as top grosser..

I'm no necessarily saying Lineage Eternal will surpass Lineage 1 just that I was under the impression that Lineage 1 wasn't taking in enough on it's own to fend off a Nexon takeover.

If the GW2 model failed financially, you would have seen layoffs at ArenaNet en mass by now. You would not have seen 40 content patches and an expansion releasing in a week. (These things cost money, ya know) ESO, TSW, Destiny, and the upcoming Black Desert Online (in the West) are all B2P games.
I'm pretty sure the Nexon thing killed City of Heroes, so maybe, just maybe, it'll come back...
Maybe that's why NCsoft resisted selling the property to Missing Worlds Entertainment.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
