    My option is not there

I liked the PVE server's from WoW.

You had the option to open world PVP if you flagged yourself.

    Here is the truth....

PVP and PVE players do not go together and they never will no matter what anyone thinks. Those who think they like both or feel as if they "know" they like both don't know anything. They are just confused. MMORPGS should cater to one or the other and not both at the same time. A PURE PVP MMORPG or a PURE PVE MMORPG. I'm a PVP Player...have been one since had a taste of my first MMORPG over 10 years ago. I have only settled...and dealt with the PVE aspects of MMORPGs but I've always HATED them...

Fortunately for you PVP players....I'm around....I'll make an MMORPG just for us. Just give me some years. Then we can all finally have the fun we deserve.

Oh.....and I'm not talking about those players who cry when a group kills them...or those who think "I'm a high level with super equipment NO one can beat me ahahahahaha..." no....nor those who want to do "mission and pure race based battles etc...."...none of that soft PVP crap. just the hardcore PVP players...who just like the chaos and violence of it all in an open world where they love  that they can die anytime, anywhere and will lose all that is on them IF the one that killed them wanted their sh1t. . .Safe nowhere....no safe dude with a shop in town...while he's sleeping in his bed irl.

I disagree with you completely. Without PvE there is no conflict and politics. Fighting over resources or prime experience spots gives rise to some of the best conflict.

PvE and PvP players are needed for an open MMO to work. Economics, progression and politics are a key ingredient to meaningful PvP.
I understand why you disagree with me completely. It's because You are either a PVE person or confused. It's alright really...as I already typed earlier. PVP and PVE player do not go together...and the confused ones just fk everything else up...thinking we can have both. We can't....there is a line between us...and there should be...

I'm not confused in the least. You're just a breed of the new age gamers who can't handle the MMOs of old.

If you don't understand the role PvE plays in a open PvP game then you're a PK virgin.

I said you were either....a PVE person OR Confused...I see you chose your path for yourself: The Confused. I understand the role PVE plays in an open world PVP game and it is sh1t. It's not acceptable...it just something that you end up accepting because you've got no choice. If you think an Open World  PVP MMORPG needs PVE to be great then your imagination is severely lacking....cutting out PVE would finally move PVP to the place it should be...alone..separate from PVE. So us PVP people can finally fight it out and conquer until insanity.

I have nothing against PVE...it should just leave PVP alone so PVP can spread its wings and fly.

and PK virgin...? Well you're a...uh...You're a stupid confused pig face.

The truth is, if you are a pure pvp player then why play mmorpg's? Why not play one of the thousands of moba's or fps's on the market. Pve will always be the go too play style in mmorpg's imo.

Some like to PVP, some like to PVE, some like to PVP and PVE, all three of these styles exist pick and enjoy your poison.

Some of the best PVP I've ever experienced came from getting in the way of a rival's PVE.

And the last thing I am is confused.

The truth is....I'm a pure pvp player who actually isn't playing  mmorpgs atm...I couldn't stomach the PVE anymore. I've been waiting for a pvp mmorpg to break it's chains...to remove itself from PVE. I'm starting to believe that I may have to take matters into my own hands.

Oh, and I did try MOBA's not my thing really. FPS though, now I've played lots of those.

Either PvE only or PvP with consequences in the open world.  I like Darkfall but they failed to implement some consequences and a proper alignment system.  Alignment systems are very tricky though.

Add open world limited questing to the poll.  Ultimately I just want a game with risk vs reward, tactical combat and no linear required questing.  I shouldn't aoe spam and kill mobs at once with no tactics.

You sound far more confused as you make the mistake of not realizing many of us have seen them coexisting rather well.

Coexisting...it's not about coexisting....it's about what is preferred over something else...
In mmorpgs there are those who prefer PVE over PVP and those who prefer PVP over PVE.

What people are confused about is that there are PVE players who PVP but they are not PVP players...Their main focus is PVE...It's just that simple.

They should no longer be blended they should be separated...a choice must be made. It would make things more interesting/more fun imo. I hate having people on my friends list who just want to quest and level all day and want to pvp me...when they see that I'm lower than them or my gear sucks and I won't beat them like I did when we were the same level and similar gear....

In a pure PVP mmorpg world...it would be great...the leveling gone...the classes gone...all skill based...How good are you using your character to kill this other character..or escape those characters....ahhh would be so much fun.

Back in the 2000s I made a very successful persistent world in Neverwinter Nights called "World of Torr". I had a very good system where crimes like pickpocketing and murder we're part of the game and handled by the legal system. You would earn demerits "if witnessed" that faded over time. You can get arrested and stand trial and other players can influence the NPC decisions.

But here's the thing, if you were bad enough and choose to, the court can EXILE you. You became a "bad guy" and many of the monster camps now became neutral to you with quests and etc. You would now actually gain XP for killing other players but the difference was that normal players on death lost a few items and small amount of XP, as an Exile you dropped EVERYTHING and lost a huge chunk of XP. There were no guards to protect them from other Exiles either.  They were essentially play a hardcore PvP mode of the game now, but the "good" players were not and almost didn't mind getting killed.

I had Player killers and non player killers in the same game and BOTH HAVING FUN TOGETHER. They were incorporated into the game itself as they should be.

You're what we call a carebear. You can't handle real PvP.

PvPing when up to weeks worth of XP is on the line changes things. PvPing with your gear on the line, changes things. Exploiting economies to get an edge is a skill. Using deception and ruthlessness can be considered skills. Using unfair means to garner an edge is in fact a skill. Efficiently grinding your XP back, is a skill.

People like you are one trick ponies, your style of "PvP" gets boring quick.

You...don't even know what a carebear is...go look up the definition..(you're a joke btw). I've already experienced  everything you've described...I'm a PVPr...I don't care about losing XP upon death....gear loss...who cares...I've PKd people and lost ALL of my gear multiple times in mmorpgs...Have even been kicked out of clans due to being told to stop with the PVP. It's no big deal lol. And the skills you are mentioning are boring, pathetic sh1tty skills lol. "Efficiently grinding your XP back" LMAO.

You and the guy that +1 you, jc234 have no imagination if you think only that which you've played is all that there is...I'm done, can't help the helpless. They don't know what they don't know. XD

Yo @FaunNoe I never said that which you've played is all that there is. Do you even know what I meant by "There is NO ends to a mean"?

If you're going to gate and set boundaries for players to endlessly kill each other with a means of simply killing each other, you belong in the psych ward my friend.

*EDIT. I'll have you know my imaginations through the roof, go experience trance like states and mind altering substances, then come back to me :)

*EDIT 2. @FaunNoe you know what, I think you trolling. Did you ever consider that you're NOT THE ONE who knows all and sees all? Fkn messiah complex hard.

I think the general concensous across all play styles of mmo is that we are tired of corperate heads pandering to demographic that doesn't even like mmos and never was the intended audience(Casuals). I'm not saying this implies Korean level grinding, but dumbed down gameplay that started with the WoW era of mmos.

A 60/40 split, seems a little high for PvP but makes sense considering the site. Though I prefer choosing when and where to PvP (so not OWPvP) I would not assume that's what the general MMO community wants. I voted that way because when you look at the populations in titles where PvP isn't the sole purpose that's what you see. From my experience it's about a 35/65 split.

On the other hand, titles that only feature PvP are popular because you're getting what you expect. One often gets confused with the other though.

I hope at some point there will be a title that can embrace both "worlds" because the world itself is large enough for it. I think in order to accomplish this and give due diligence to both styles the progression and itemization would have to be completely separate. Why have them be in he same title? Well a developer can always come up with creative ways to make the successes of one side benefit the other. Would also create a larger sense of community.

This is where the MMO community comes together to discuss how great EQ1, UO, and SWG were.

A far more accurate analogy would be: This would be like going to a nursing home to do a poll on smartphones.

Pretty sure most of us play MMOs.

And no, WoW was not the first to seperate PvP and PvE. Actually, I kinda liked how Ultima Online did it. There were various locations throughout the game (large continent-type areas). Some were PvP, some were not. Don't wanna be ganked? Don't go to Felucca.

I want a well designed MMO with a challenge and a enough content that I can happily play it for years.

If it is PvP or not, well ideally it would have PvP, too, but it needs to be fair and sportive. There would be safe zones and a playerkiller mechanism, and there would be actual mass PvP events in the actual, non-instanced game world (not separate "Battlegrounds") in which guilds and guild alliances would fight each other over ressources.

Either way I'm not interested in a pure PvP games like Guild Wars (1, never tried 2). If a game doesnt have satisfying PvE, I'm not interested.

Lastly, PVP should not ever ever be a gear grind.  It should be a skill based contest between players and the goal of PVP should be territorial conquest with clearly defined winners and losers.

PVP gear stratifies the PVP player base and turns the highly skilled players with the best gear into gods which drives other players away.
And that is what highly skilled PvP players want, to separate themselves from the other low level PvPers.  They don't see gear grind as an obstacle, only the first step to their final goal.  Those driven away are not PvPers.  They are the definition of poser, one who wants the glory but at none of the cost, risk, or effort.
Grinding gear = pay to win. They grind because has no life. They paid because rich. These cancer need to go.

What we need is gw2 spvp format in world vs world . same lvl, same equipment, just skills. 100vs 100

The only PvP I ever enjoyed was OW flagged. Less to do with me, more to do with the other guy. If he took the time to flag, he knew what he was signing up for. There was no ambiguity about ruining someones gaming experience.

I truly enjoy the option to OW grind as well. As much as we complain about the kill ten boars quests, I look for them at the repeatable level in games. It's the closest I see to OW grind.
