Until recently, I thought all people shared the same definition of what is considered an Exploit in a video game, but that view was challenged recently from my experience playing some MMOs lately.
I figured an Exploit was the use of something that wasnt intended to be used in that way by the development, especially when there is an advantage to be gained from it.
But I have noticed that people seem to defend an exploit, if said exploit requires a certain level of skill to use, as I been told.
So even if it wasnt intended design, people who use it ,have advantage over people that dont, simply because you time a certain button press to do this exploit, it should be acceptable?
where do you stand in this?

aka Exploit is something unintended and alot of games have it or had it.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

We don't have to define it. We don't need to agree on it. If the publisher says "That's an exploit"
Guess what?..............
LOL, I just noticed DMK's post.....Same idea.
I agree. Whatever the devs say is an exploit.

I agree. Unintended reaction to input due to development error, utilized by players for advantage and/or unintended functionality.

Someone steals from you, should the person who steals get to define what is stealing? NO. If someone has to ask if "action x" is exploiting, either he is exploiting or asking a stupid question.
A list isn't needed in most cases imo. That being said, I have asked for game companies to have their bug database public. It puts pressure on the devs to clean up exploits.
Lets be honest, as long as the money is rolling in, they don't have a priority to deal with exploits unless it is really extreme. Most players love using exploits as many of them will say it is something the devs allowed. If they get questioned about the exploit they will ask "what is an exploit?". They might even ask for a list of exploits.
It it all part of the little bs games the gamers pull.

An exploit is an exploit. But I guess the intended reaction is just to make a post and get an answer....
