I couldn't vote because I've only played Darkfall, Guild Wars, and WoW. I've free-trialed all of them except Shadowbane, but that was long after they were at their peak.
But the best time I've had in all the games I played or tried is Darkfall.
Of the 10 listed I would say WOW though, you simply can't say there is another mmo greater than wow because it made the genre mainstream, attracted vastly more players/developers than ever were interested before and that it's STILL the market leader beating everything else by a massive margin. Nothing else even comes close to WOW even at its lowest point.
If not for wow most of those games on the list probably would not exist, probably not this site either.
There just isn't any way anyone can say anything other than WOW unless they are a fanboy or something.
Ummm ... where is Lotro? It has been around for 8 years now and deserves some consideration. No, it is not the same game as when they first started; but, is any game in this poll the same as it was when it started?

For me is the best MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, which is the MMO with more endgame content and history. But I do not understand why not on the list to vote OO
Ofc WoW will retain most of the votes since it has the highest population of any mmo. A better evalution would be the best mmo's of its genre. Each person has different tastes though so the phrase "best" is just subjective.
Now things that are proven such as the most influence, most players, best pvp, best crafting, ect would be more reasonable.

Voted WoW for TBC. I really enjoyed it. But I didn't like the direction they took the game after that, so I left.

I didn't vote. I don't have a favorite. I have several favorites and your list is incomplete.
I'm in the same shoes, no favourite here either - that's why I game-hop And yep, the list is incomplete, however with adding MH, ESO and Tera it'd became a perfect list of "games I won't even poke with a stick" That's the point of diversity, everyone has own preferences and taste in games.
Definitely a worthwhile poll, though it's a shame the forum's poll couldn't replicate the methodology of the earlier list, where you submitted your top 5 and they were tallied up based on these weights:
1. 3 points 2. 2.5 points 3. 2 points 4. 1.5 points, and 5. 1 point
Seemed like a pretty interesting way of breaking things down and including each contributor's top 5 rather than only counting their absolute favorite.

What?! I am the only one who voted for shadowbane? You guys are all lame. 0%?!?!?!!? Don't round me down dang it! I am a human being! My life has value!

That would be easy to do -- just have 5 polls -- #1 your fav on the list, #2 your second fav... #5 your fifth fav. With you keeping track of the people you would be able to easily nix anyone who say voted for the same game 5 times.

Sure, that's work but would be clunky. Personally I'd google up a solution online for a polling site that has this option built-in (I'm sure there must be one; and if not I imagine google's own polling system lets you script it in yeah?)

but considering that many people think that the best mmo is WoW dont wonder why devs are still releasing crappy copies of it...
