Let's take a second to give some attention to the good parts of games we didn't particularly like. What are some features fairly unique to an MMO you really didn't like?
Tera's combat. I tried to like it for the combat but every other part of gameplay sucked. FFXIV's mount being able to fight with you. Gliding, not flying, in AION.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. 12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
Initial public reaction was astonishing, because is was just sooo much better than the lame Meeting Stones concept they'd embraced for so many years. FINALLY an answer to LFG.
But what it did to the game in the long term was astonishingly negative. It did not take long for the first week's joy to flip to horror, thanks to predictable player behaviors that seemed to surprise the devs.
Gw2 leveling. I don't think I realized just how much I had grown to hate the quest grind until I was finally liberated of it. For the first time in years leveling was actually fun rather than a torturous journey of following exclamation marks doing tasks I couldn't possibly care less about to get exp.

Rappelz pet system. Get rid of the MicroTransaction RNG factors and maybe create a different theme other than binding your pets to a trading card, But the basic structure was one of the most advanced pet systems in any MMO.
I disliked most of SW:TOR but spent a lot of time in warzones. Whilst I initially disliked Huttball, I really grew to love it. Interesting map, interesting rules, good use of team tactics on top of the usual pvp tactics.

Capturable and breedable mounts (dragoturkeys) in Dofus. Mounts that can be ridden in combat (though they are basically equipment, they don't affect anything but your stats). The concept is great, the details of the implementation they chose are really not. They are ridiculously hard to capture, and it's all but useless to capture the wild ones if you can buy any breeding stock from another player. The breeding system is too random, and results in lots of unwanted mounts, driving prices down. Training the mounts by emoting at them so they interact with consumable furniture in their pens is truly terrible, and the profession for making said furniture is also quite bad. (Dofus overall suffers from splitting professions into too many small pieces, of which each avatar can only have approximately 3. All of these professions are grindy, none of them involve much cleverness or creativity, and some of them are basically useless.)
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story. So PM me if you are starting one.
One that popped into my head quickly was that game that tried to use a spinning rolodex to select choice instead of a hotbar.
One my biggest peeves...ANY kind of offline gaming in an online persistent world.
I can't really think of too many unique features because most games are lacking many of the expected features,so not likely they will go above and beyond to add in unique features.Usually if there is a unique feature i would enjoy it unless it is just trying to replace something that just works well already like that game trying to replace the hotbar.
Someone mentioned SWTOR Huttball. To me it is not so much weather the actual idea is ok or not but more so did it belong in the game and imo no as it was not supported in the LORE of the game but more so just an idea to toss in for no reason.
Also i agree the title is a bit off, should just ask what are some unique features we didn't like in games.I could easily name more i liked.

I think the point was to name a feature you did like that came from an MMO you didn't like, so, instead of the usual complaining we get about bad mmos, i think this was supposed to be a more positive thread about redeeming features of games we didn't like.

There really shouldn't be confusion in the title. It is asking for what was a touted feature in a game you were not on board with. For me it was garrisons in the most recent WoW expansion. They were talking those up big time and they ended up being a lot of tedious work for almost nothing.
walking in stations - EvE talk about a half arsed release, shame really the bigger picture was meant to lead to shop fronts, possible in station bounty style hunters etc... but all we get is a crappy static picture and an avatar that walks 4 steps
Or even the teams in industry something that we could use to get discounts on manufacturing etc - They lasted one release before being removed "for lack of use!"
Not sure why people are confused about the topic. People in this thread act like it's impossible for them to like a single feature in a game they overall, didn't like. It's so incomprehensible that they are confused by the question haha. Typical black and white all or nothing culture, no gray area, culture we have going.
I would say I really appreciated the open world housing and some of the farming in Archeage as well as the open world exploration. So there are three things I liked in a game I overall, didn't like.
Yeah people are in here talking about games/features they hated, or saying it's too confusing.
It's actually a really good idea for a topic. Think of a game you didn't like, but had features that you did like.
It's almost unfair to call it a feature, since it was the game's entire goal, but TSW's questing. I loved the questing, and the fact that it wasn't medieval fantasy, but they promised the combat would be different and it really didn't feel like it was. I was still tab-targeting and had a set rotation that could have been macroed.
Tera's combat. I tried to like it for the combat but every other part of gameplay sucked.
I want to agree with this 100%...but at the same time I also found Tera's combat incredibly exhausting during prolonged sessions.
I can understand that. Tbh, I quit at level 20, and soloing BAMs was fun, but it did get a bit strenuous. I can't imagine an entire raid, or you're fifth try on a boss where people's hands are physically exhausted.

Tera Combat was amazing, but I hated everything else. Rift was a good mmo. but the combat animations just killed it for me. GW2 leveling was good, but the end game was boring and pretty isolating.

The thing that kills me about most game's Dungeon Finders is that they don't have the follow-through to protect against asshattery. Blizzard reacted really fast to the problems prevalent in cross-server DF. Other games launch it and ignore all the complaints.

This is definitely one I hadn't considered really. Guild Wars 2 did the leveling experience so well - at least until the lower level zones started drying up. I don't know how they are since the base game went free, but when I last played I had a low-mid level character and could barely even level anymore because the zones were too empty to complete events.

Archeage was one game I so brutally, painfully wanted to like. I remember prior to its release evangelizing it to all my friends that played MMOs. I thought that it was going to be the next great MMO. When it came out, I was still convinced it was going to be great. It didn't take long for my expectations to start dropping lower and lower.

Housing and farming in ArcheAge, but didn't like bots and lack of housing availability. That ruined the whole thing for me.

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.
