Medieval Fantasy MMORPG Are The Best

nerovergilnerovergil Member UncommonPosts: 680
Most people that play MMORPG want to escape reality, like me, i want to go into the world that beautiful.

Unlike Fallout 4 where most of the map is a wasteland, Medieval setting game is better.

The place where you can see the water, jungle, epic castle and travel back to the time when world has no pollution..

away from guns....only bow and arrow, sword and chance to be the hero.

I hate playins scince fiction mmorpg, it has no nature in it, full with steel and robotic stuff....its unrealistic..and no jungle no river....my heart is with the nature...

and i cant play modern setting, because real world has better graphic and i cant escape into another mess

To each their own, I guess. Although, I've seen more than enough high fantasy to choke a horse.

But... sci-fi is unrealistic, while magic and elves are... what?

Agreed I have yet to play anything but a fantasy title ( other than an FPS game ) that captures my imagination like a good high fantasy medieval world.  I agree with you 100%.

Science Fiction isnt just robots and steel, there are many sci fi game out there they have a lot of nature to show, and sci fi isnt that unrealistic, many things that seem sci fi in the past became reality, for me sci fi is the best for mmorpgs.

I prefer a Fantasy setting as well.

The reason i guess is that using modern more know ideals leaves no room for creativity. At least under a Magic realm we can be very creative with ideas.

I disagree. its all about the creative mindset of the developers. Problem is, developments are lead by a few people, so most of the creativity goes out the window because all ideas have to cross that single lead developer/producer to ever see the light of day.

I agree, Fallout series are extremely boring to me. I don't even consider fallout game an RPG, it's a FPS / Action game.

Fallout is far more like Far Cry than a true RPG like Drakensang: The Dark Eye, Divine Divinity or Final Fantasy.

I don't see any mmorpg being mentioned in this thread so i'm disappointed for visiting this thread.

I too believe a Medieval MMO could be loads of fun. Probably the first computer RPG I ever played, Microprose's Darklands, used that theme, and it worked well. As I remember a large part of the European map was represented with its nation and city states - each having a different social character. Magic came in the form of Saint's Blessings (you would visit different abbeys and perform service for them to learn a particular blessing), and the mobs were both historic mythological as well as actual historic.

A MMORPG drawing from all this could present good opportunities for PvP as well as PvE you would think. And have great potential for immersion, too. However I suspect that their are many more cyber punks and players drawn to low fantasy in the world today than there are people interested in history. So..., sigh.

...are you kidding? Did you honestly just say there are more cyberpunk and "low fantasy" MMORPGs than high fantasy?  O.o

I don't even know how to respond to that. You can't possibly be serious. Did you recently arrive from a parallel universe perhaps?

I'd go so far as to say more often than not this site isn't about traditional MMORPGs and now covers all things gaming related.

They might as well add in subforums for sports, gambling and porn games.

Heck add in sections for movies, home improvement and Hollywood entertainment, because people are interested in those too, and would bump up the click rates.

Not really joking....kind of hoping to see the rise of a better site that focuses more heavily on MMORPGs only, anyone know some?

Fantasy has always been the mainstay of MMOs, for some reason SciFi does not quite cut it. Not sure why.

This is the best site for MMOs I know, the others make MMORPG seem reasonable when it comes to hype and fanbois. I know that sounds hard to believe but go check some of them out. :)

Debate, no, but Fallout 4 is not really an RPG.

I will give you this, Fallout 4 is an RPG, in the same way McDonalds says it's a restaurant.

While this is very much just a matter of opinion, I agree. Love the fantasy setting, have never been able to get into the Fallout or Stalker stuff.

Fallout 4 has more rpg mechanics in it than majority of final fantasy games and most jrpgs in general.
