Still not sure to jump the hype-train or not. I loved XCOM:EU/EW and still play it from time to time, but the gameplay trailer I've seen before shows only a slight change in actual mechanics and I fear that it's more a game that'll focus on graphics rather than game mechanics...

Its more likely to feel like an expansion rather than a new improved version of the game. I recommend you give it some time for the price to go down. For me though, I'm a big fan and am not looking for new mechanics so much as more of the story so I will be preordering.

The les they change the better.

    Improve - yes

    Change - god no

    ;P

Story, graphics, atmoshpere - thats should be focus, as far as im concerned.

Liked the combat in the first one, but the base building aspects were abysmal and just dragged the whole game down for me. Oh yes, you still have the support of the USA, EU, and China, but since Zimbabwe, Liechtenstein, and Andorra withdrew funding, YOU LOSE. Oh, and timed missions can go suck it too.

I'll probably wait for a sale this time, if I even bother.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

It does sort of look like an expansion, but more like an xpac with a graphical update. That's not a bad thing, but $75 seems a little steep for what looks like a very similar combat and tactical experience.

Just like FO4 and most other new releases I'm going to wait a while until there is a Steam sale.
Yeah, $75 is a bit on the pricey side for me too... and the first game's DLCs were WAY overpriced for the content they gave you, so getting some DLC thrown in with the box isn't enough to sway me this time around, no matter how much I love the game.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

I'm with you here.  I have pretty much decided I won't buy any single player experience for full price anymore.  Not when, less than a year after release, you get deals like Witcher 3 for $30 and Dying Light for $20 on Steam.

Hell, I didn't even pay $60 for The Last of Us on comsole, and it had quite the fun multilayer experience thrown in with an incredible single player story.  No real point in spending that kind of money on video games anymore in my opinion!

I got ESO for 10$ 5 months after launch and WS for 1$ (with bunch of other stuff from humble bundle) like 8? months after release (even if it was down to 15$ very fast after release)

And ill gladly pay full price for a game like Witcher or XCOM...or PoE for that matter.

I don't pre-order anymore on general principle.  But the X-Com 2 game is apparently  not just a rote expansion.  Instead of reacting to the Aliens, you are choosing and setting out on the missions, and the Alien command strategizes based on what you've done.  Character customization is more advanced, as is weapon creation.   There was a quote about X-Com Redone being a road, and X-Com 2 being a more of a wide open area.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
