Arguably one of the most discouraging videos I think I have ever seen. The keyboard courage no-life gankers have certainly sealed the deal for me (and possibly sealed the fate of the game as well). Not going to touch this mess with a ten foot pole. I hope all of the like-minded pvp players go here and stay here.
Looks great for Pre alpha release, Wish I could log into PU to try it. Getting kicked, dropped , crashes. Spending more time looking at LOADING GAME screens than actually playing in the game. BUT it is pre alpha, non-optimized in any way. Also limiting the number of people in the universe instance at present. Never version in testing now. Here is hoping for the future.
WoW I was super excited for this game but seeing all the PKing I'm not sure this is the game for me any more. It sucks that I bought 3 ships right now. At this point in the game this is defiantly not a game I like or want to play. I logged into the game and got killed every were I went . I have not even figured out how to fly my ship every well. The motion blur is horrible in game. I just hope they add some none PVP areas or add a none pvp server just so I can enjoy the game. I stopped playing the Alpha right now because it out of control.

Think EVE mega server so really only 1 server if they can get it working. There is supposed to be a pvp slider to make yourself carebear but will see if and when it gets put in
Both is my understanding. I am sure someone can give the latest position but back in 2013 CR wanted people to be able to go off into lawless - PvP - areas with the danger that that entailed with the prospect of gaining cool rewards. However people who wanted to be safe would be able to do so, amass the same sort of wealth but it would probably take longer.
Seems they are purposely using very little color to keep polygon count down.
Seriously the hud and cockpit area is super boring, that could be pulled off in a game 20 years ago.
The design seems almost identical to Eve ,i figured it to be nothing more than Eve 2.0.You can also expect ALL stations to be camped all the time.
I have no idea how they purpose to make the game realistic if players ships are destroyed as fast as melting ice in 100 degree weather.I do know that this type of design encourages players to spend lots of money in hopes they find their perfect ship and why imo ships should be the LAST thing that is sold with real life money, they should be earned in game, utilizing plans and tools to building and fitting a ship in your Hangar along with needing mechanics and material handlers etc etc.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Nope. Usually Stanton is a heavily policed system. But in the current Alpha, the NPC police ships have not yet been activated. CIG does want multiplayer ship and FPS PvP being tested, that is what that Security Station is all about. You can take other (PvE) missions too. Those take place in other areas.
(As an outsider) It will be interesting to see what happens when the Goon Squad invaders show up to make life miserable for everyone. They will find every exploit feasible at every level. And save the best for when the game goes live.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
I'm curious about something. I understand ppl need to buy a ship for their characters and some of them are way up there in price. Ok, say the game launches and someone who has never heard of Star Citizen wants to play it (maybe a new pc gamer that has moved on from console games). From what I hear these ships are only available to people who pre-purchase them in order to support the crowdfunding project. So when the game does come out. What position will new players be in?? I mean if the game can't get new players or new players feel like it just isn't worth it. The game is dead.

You can get ANY ship and equipment in game with in game money only after launch day. There are no "exclusive-only-for-real-world-cash" ships. Its one of the design principles of Star Citizen. Its not like "World of Tanks" or similar games with some tanks only available for real world cash only.
We have some rough estimates of how long it will take in SC to get a ship (based on Chris Roberts info):
5-7 hours of gameplay (non hardcore, non 100 % missions-for-money) for a starter ship 20-30 h for a single pilot fighter 60
h for a multiplayer ship like the Constellation (or 15 h each for every
crewman in the 4 player Connie) --> The Connie was an example
described by Chris Roberts and was used to estimate the rest. 50 h each for every crewman in a 25 player Javelin capital ship.
If you do hardcore gameplay for maximized profit i personally guess you can divide the numbers by half.
There is one exception - the carrier. This one has special mechanics ... first you have to find a derelict one drifting in Vanduul space. Then you have to repair it and escort it back through alien invested space. Then you have to fight off the human (player) predators. It will be a multi-guild operation.
Advice to new players: join a guild ("organisation") - its fun and your mates will help you.
As this is a game dominated by NPC vs PC (90:10) a new player will always be able to find a niche. There is no way an old established player guild "can dominate the server" and make life hell for new players.

Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
Also moderately disappointing, I was hoping to see Ripper kill some SC fans and make them rage.

How EXACTLY that works, well buy it and find out. Eventually...
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.

Ripper ma boi, bring back that old intro you had. The one with the Grim reaper coming out the guys mouth. I loved that one.
Will start adding that intro again after the New Year just for you homie! Happy Holidays bro!

That sounds....awesome!
Even once that's polished, it looks craptastically boring. Like eye-watering levels of boredom.
Really hoping it gets a strong RP community and support from the devs, it has potential.
For now I bide my time lol.
Looks nice never would say it doesn't but it clearly needs a LOT of work to even get to a good alpha state.
