I watched Episode VII two times now and I love this movie. It has the good old SW feeling. I was a big SWG player and I miss it now more then ever. I hope there will be a company to pick up this idea again.

I've seen SWTFA twice and it had that effect on me too. I just wished there was something good to play that was Star Wars. I almost buckled and bought Battlefront, but my experience in that open beta came back and stalled that idea. It was neat to look at but just didn't have any depth to it, and it's a pvp shooter so there are never any exploration moments or breathers that don't fuck your team.
MMORPG players are often like Hobbits: They don't like Adventures
If you want to play a Star Wars based MMO, what do you play? SWTOR...

Why? Because of lightsabers? I definitely don't get a Star Wars feel when I play SWTOR.
I would say because of the force powers, lightsabers, Jedi, and all the other stuff they have from the SWs universe.

Have faith in the Force Luke. One day they will come up with SWG 2 and we shall all rejoice! *wishful thinking I know**
Not going to happen, SWG never was the huge success needed for someone to bother getting the rights for it. But there will sooner or later be a new massive SW game, hopefully a MMORPG even though a MMOFPS is likelier. So we can hope that one is good and will learn the lessons from the earlier SW games.
Personally I would want a SW MMO that actually feels like the movies and while SWG did have good crafting it just didn't do that for me. TOR have possibly the feel of Clone wars but that doesn't work for me either.
With a MMOFPS I wouldn't mind a future VR game that would simulate space battles, that would actually be a pretty easy use of VR tech and piloting a X-wing or tie during the battle of Yavin might not be MMORPG like but with 100s of other players it would be massive and fun anyways and you could easily get a good SW feeling in it, something that is harder in MMORPGs. Getting the group dynamics good to get combat that looks and feels like the one they have in the movies is no easy task when people aren't flying.
SPOILERS: Am I the only one who thought they could have done better with SW VII?
I think Kylo Ren was revealed and unmasked too early. Should have been one of the last scenes, or better yet, in the next film. Vader was popular because of the mystery that surrounded him. Kylo Ren has no mystery anymore.
Secondly Kylo is a bit too "Angsty", although I think the Actor and his acting is very good. Just not the right part for him maybe... idk. It takes away from the fear you had of Kylo at the beginning as he demonstrated some rather powerful and creepy sith/dark side powers. The interrogation scenes were intense!
The emperor was creepy though, well done.
No epic ground battles...
Han solo death was perfect, they set it up for him to make an amazing recovery akin to Gandalf in LotR or Obi-Wan. At the very least they proved Kylo Ren is scarier than he looks, I guess.
The Tie-fighter breakout scene screamed Star Wars to me. First half of the movie was a 10/10, the second half was like a 7/10.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
I've been missing SWG since the NGE. SWTOR is not a replacement. Where's the depth? Why would anyone want to waste a Star Wars MMO opportunity on a silly themepark? We could have gotten KOTOR 3, an awesome moba-style Star Wars game to substitute for SWTOR's awful raiding experience, and a proper SWG replacement that actually made you feel like you were living a life in the Star Wars universe and not one of a million "brave hero jedi knights saving the galaxy!!!!!" All of them would have been less costly to produce and all would have offered players so much more than what we got.

I think most of us agree that Bioware blew off a lot of money on weird stuff, voice overs do add something in a game but there is a limit which they just get annoying after you pass.
Then again am I not sure I want to just live in the SW universe as much as get the awesome feeling I get from the movies (something TOR fails with), I don't have to play the main hero or villain at all but I still want the feeling that I am in the movie. And they did try with living in the universe and they tried with "you are the hero" so I think it is time to go for getting as close to the movies as possible instead.

It did feel a little rushed, and how she developed her Jedi powers that rivaled Rens so quickly was a bit much. So what happens next? She gets trained by Luke? She senses the good in Ren and flips him to the light side and together they defeat the Emperor? The special effects were great though.

I had a different reaction to watching the force unleashed. It brought me back to the original trilogy. If I had to point point why I'd say the story is far more simple as it revolves more around action than politics, it has less cheesy dialogue (IMO), and the time for the music is a lot better. Having only a few Jedi's and Sith around makes things more interesting as well. I'm glad that there are moments when a cheesy line or scream could have been added, but instead they chose to just focus on the characters faces while they stood their in silence and music played in the background. Sometimes less is more or at least it is for me.
I can't say it made me want to play SWG. I was never a big fan of the game. Star Wars always seemed like a game destined for single player as it always focused on a main character that was one of the few rare Jedi in the galaxy. Star Trek seems like a universe that would be perfect for a sandbox.

Turbine tried it with Lotro they failed.
The greatest IPs ever and no one can make a decent MMO out of them because they all want to follow an MMO script instead of just releasing a game and letting the story unfold around you. While Turbine did do the main story fairly well early on they also got stupid the past few years. Their design wasnt bad (having it instanced and mostly solo) but they stopped capturing the REAL story and wanted ot put their turbine twist on it.
Make Middle Earth, make the Star Wars universe and let people just explore it and be in it. If they want to try phasing whatever, once you do something that changes due to the main stories youre phased past it. WoW did that pretty well but everyone tried to improve on it and they failed.
If they and people are worried about playing with others in a different phase have people grouped join the earlier phase. Seems pretty simple to me. Especially if thee arent themepark on the rails quest hubs everywhere. Phasing shouldnt be all that extreme, unless of course its Alderaan and it has been destroyed (spoiler alert for anyone who has lived under a rock the past 40 years).

Not everyone likes sandbox, you know, and "better" and "worse" are subjective.
